Sharpstick - GJ was still in California last I knew. He got tired of arguing his points and although he never admitted it, I think he decided even he couldn't defend Obama anymore. He was actually pretty sharp and when he debated, he was (mostly) courteous, thoughtful, and tried to be logical even when his logic was flawed. I had the privilege of listening to him and Tennbow debate in person not too long before Tennbow passed. He did a good job and admitted he got owned that night. ;)

Bad, I completely agree that there is no room for belittling people here. It makes no sense. I don't understand why folks act the way they do, but I think as bowhunters we must hold ourselves to a higher standard and it is incumbent upon us to show people how to act. I consider us throw backs. Honorable, honest and hopefully always striving towards the highest character. By showing respect to others, including those we don't agree with, I believe we set the tone for who fits and who does not. But I'm old. As Yoda would say: "too old." We won't all agree on these things, and I'm probably the odd man out as JTV, Whitey (BTW, just saw the "boner arrow" comment-you clever dog) and itshot have pointed out. I won't chime in again on it-you guys know my opinion by now which is to take the high road and lead by example.

I know of no group where someone could show up and almost immediately start calling the members of the group racists, morons, etc, all while proclaiming his intellectual superiority without providing a bit of useful information, and be welcomed. Nor should there be.

Yes. Humor is universal. Lobbing insults and being sophomoric is the center piece of my relationship with all my friends. It's why we are so close after 40 years. Atheist wrote this on another thread. If he gets his feelings hurt when people slam him for pushing his beliefs when he knows the majority of people here are Christians. Then offering an apology to him is unnecessary. That said, he is free to post here as anyone else, it's not our website. I'll respond by telling him the truth. Some people don't like being told the truth, but it's all we have when we post here.

There was that one but also one where as Fauxdoc (Dockeating) he tried to pass of a "live hunt"; the problem was he used pictures of "his hunting location" that were easily traced to a hunting article/magazine or such.
After that he soon scampered nervously away from that false registration.
Hey, as Randy pointed out it's obvious what the intentions are when these people pop up out of nowhere and start attacking obvious targets; you can recognize the idiocy and refuse to validate it (IGNORE) or you can think you're dealing with it, either by lobbing mortars of your own or trying to pick apart their arguments.
The lobbing mortars only brings you down to their level and it's pointless to engage in a point-by-point dissection because that presumes that they're interested in an honest debate; they're not-they're merely interested in seeing how many people's skins they can get under; nothing more, nothing less.
Silence is the best and strongest rebuke for these trolls and allows you to maintain your standards and your dignity.

All our host has required is that we arrive here via an honest introduction; those who consistently refuse to comply with the most basic precept of an honest conversation have no standing with which to proclaim either outrage over treatment (though, as I alluded to above, respectful discourse is the decorum that all should strive to maintain) or a "right" to give voice to anything at anytime on this forum.

I don't think any of us needs to see full names, emails or any other forms of ID; I do feel though that the person or persons who handle user registrations should have that type of data that is solely in their purview and solely to verify that each new registrant is a legitimate contributor.
I also would like to see, and know it's possible to have a unique identifier system that would prevent banned posters from resurfacing days later with a fresh, fake registration. I think that would protect privacy as you correctly point to while maintaining registration integrity.
As I mentioned above, and as echoed by Whitey's "no one owns this site", we're all guests here; each enjoying the privilege that the site owner is gracious enough to bestow. From time to time he has openly opined about the future of the CF and whether it should be kept alive or not.
He might be weighing that prospect now; lord knows there's ample reason for it just on this thread alone.....
