Too many news shows around here with the homeless jumping in late model vehicles and going home after their "workday".

Doesn't suck at all to be me, you go ahead and give some money to his gofundme if you feel I accused him fraudulently.....

Happy Thanksgiving!

Pig, Acts of compassion and generosity do not go unrewarded, although reward, is the last thing expected in the hearts of those that give. Many who give of themselves will refuse material rewards, embarrassed and humiliated by such. "He is a good man", That simple and most powerful phrase could fill volumes of one's most envied character. You are a good man.

Johnny Bobbitt, the homeless veteran who gained worldwide attention when he used his last $20 to fill up the gas tank of a stranded motorist, reportedly took legal action Tuesday against the couple that raised $400,000 for him on GoFundMe.

A lawyer for Bobbitt filed a lawsuit seeking an injunction to stop Mark D’Amico and Kate McClure — the motorist he helped — from using any leftover money from the fundraising campaign, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Bobbitt told the Inquirer earlier that he can't use the $200,000 left out of the $400,000 that donors raised on GoFundMe, and he no longer has a camper or a car.

Bobbitt alleged in the injunction that McClure and D’Amico committed fraud and considered the GoFundMe account “as their personal piggy bank.”

McClure and D’Amico did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the legal action, the paper reported.

McClure told the paper in an earlier interview that they did all they could to help Bobbitt.

The couple and Bobbitt once had a warm relationship. In an earlier interview with the Inquirer, D'Amico said he controls the money and will start dispensing it when Bobbitt gets a job and stops using drugs.

"Giving him all that money, it's never going to happen. I'll burn it in front of him," he said, adding that giving an "addict" the money would be like "giving him a loaded gun."

Bobbitt admitted to the paper that the couple once gave him $25,000 and he gave some of it to relatives and friends, and spent some of it on drugs.

Bobbitt raised suspicions over how McClure, a receptionist, is now driving a new BMW. The couple said the car was paid from their own money.

GoFundMe said earlier it will work to ensure Bobbitt "receives the help he deserves and that the donors' intentions are honored."

Why would people give to a homeless addict to the tune of 400k. I would think 50k would have gotten him on his feet. Heck just the publicity probably could have landed him a paying job if he wanted one. SMH

The story was back in the news recently, so I'm guessing gflight didn't care so much that he had an alarm set to go back and check. Nothing clear cut one way or the other from what I read, but probably some wrong on both sides. LOL Link, you in the dark ages or what? People give to BS GoFundMe garbage all the time, but they won't help their neighbor in need.

"You clearly don't understand what it means to give. Not surprising. You don't understand much at all."

I donate intelligently you donate through emotion and that is fine. I feel you are just throwing money away but its yours to throw. Case in point.

I always recommend researching through charity watching organizations and donating locally so you don't wind up benefiting poorly run charities and scammers.

Since you understand the meaning of giving so well.....

Please visit the link and donate to an organization that takes no fee at all and selects diabetes research grants in partnership with the American Diabetes Association to help those suffering from that dreadful disease. GoFundMe charges a 2.9 percent payment processing fee plus 30 cents per donation to cover credit card processing. They used to also charge a platform fee but discontinued that fee last December.

Goes right back to the hearts of all the people that gave. The three are losers, there’s no way around it. Are you gonna let these knuckleheads, or any others for that matter, harden your hearts to the point where you miss the honest one. I’d rather give a dozen “homeless” a handout and they use it for a bottle than miss the one that’s hungry. Have a heart man. It’s just money. We can make some more tomorrow:)

From: gflight

You bleeding heart liberals who support illegal immigration because there may just be one honest hungry one amaze me. Shouldn't you be wearing pink hats and protesting Trump. Here is a story for you.......

"I bought a bird feeder. I hung it on my back porch and filled it with birdseed. What a beauty of a bird feeder it was, as I filled it lovingly with seed. Within a week we had hundreds of birds taking advantage of the continuous flow of free and easily accessible food.

But then the birds started building nests in the boards of the patio, above the table, and next to the barbecue. Then came the poop! It was everywhere, on the patio tile, the chairs, the table…everywhere!

Then some of the birds turned mean. They would dive bomb me and try to peck me even though I had fed them out of my own pocket. The other birds were boisterous and loud. They sat on the feeder and squawked and screamed at all hours of the day and night and demanded that I fill it when it got low on food.

After a while, I couldn’t even sit on my own back porch anymore. So I took down the bird feeder and in three days the birds were gone. I cleaned up their mess and took down the many nests they had built all over the patio.

Soon, the back yard was like it used to be…quiet, serene and no one demanding their rights to a free meal."

The fact is, most of us want to be generous. I gave money to a lady called "Crazy Shirley" who walked up and down the streets daily, for years calling to her "lost" dogs. She set up shop in the woods not 1/4 mile from my house.

I wondered how she survived some of the brutal winters here - I'm in AZ, but up in the mountains, and I can tell you we get some sub-zero nights here. Well Crazy Shirley had many churches reach out to her, some good people opened their homes to her. She rides around on a bike with a "kid carrier" on back with her dogs and writes signs about how she just needs dog food for her only family - being the dogs.

Well, not a huge surprise, she's been eating the dogs she uses to get donations. She's flatly rejected any type of real help offered her, and has even been spotted using her donations to gamble at a local casino.

Now, there's a guy or gal with a sign at every entrance to Walmart or Lowe's or Home Depot in the area. I actually watched a guy in front of Safeway holding a sign all day, get into his Chevy Suburban and drive off after a long day of sign holding.

Similarly, in Payson AZ, I saw the same girl holding the same sign, with an empty gas can asking for money to "get back on the road" for over three months.

This kind of thing creates a real conundrum. You want to help out those who are really in need, but over and over again, you find that you are just perpetuating a cycle of certain people preying on the goodness of others.

There's no lack of jobs in my area - far from it. Anyone who can show up on time, do the minimal amount of work can be employed. Some just choose to take the tax-free route and live out their drug fueled fantasy.

I stopped giving as a consequence of seeing that my charity wasn't helping anyone, but only creating an underground marketplace of guilt.

Now, when I give, it's going to be through something like building a home, or specific causes like battered women who are hiding from their exes.

I get what your saying AZ. I’m not saying just blindly throw your money. How about a blanket or a pair of socks. Generosity comes in many forms. As for you gflight, wrap your puny fingers around your cash pile and enjoy it, you greedy little turd. I prefer to give mine with a warm hand in the hopes it might make a difference. Just a moment of peace, if nothing else. Carry on Scrooge Mc G.

I normally can detect these things pretty well. I am often appointed to the investigating committee before we donate for another organization like the one I run the website for free mentioned above. Sure would appreciate if you guys would look at that link and donate to help find a cure for Diabetes.

It surprises me some of you can apparently be so giving, yet so hateful and call people names because they are skeptical. I would expect that from Democrats trying to make republicans feel guilty for not having open borders.

From: HA/KS
19-Nov-18
One of the recent leftist tactics is to form groups with names that sound like they support freedom, the constitution. or conservative causes, but they actually work against them.

It is just wise to investigate before investing. In spite of what some here want us to believe, nobody on this site has unlimited ability to donate to good causes.

Yet, it is important to be compassionate. Giving should never be just a business decision.

"Trust but verify" Words that should always be brought to mind in so many situations.

The history of "Go Fund Me" is storied where as many good deeds have been done as have scams. In recent years, it seems that there has been an increase in GFM pleas that tilt the balance. I would be more inclined to donate to a GFM for a friend or event that is easily determined to be valid. Sometimes it is better to donate to an organization that has a reputation of using donations for the specific purpose of that organization rather than one that uses large portions of the donations for administration and salaries. Two of the best organizations that put all of donations to the cause have roots here on the Bowsite: Benefit 4 Kids and Camp Cuervo.

Leave it to lowlife-types to take a good idea like GFM and scam it. People who take advantage of the good hearted nature and generosity of others are on the short list of "worst of the worst" as far as I'm concerned.

Homeless veteran, woman behind GoFundMe scandal plead guilty in federal court

From: jjs
06-Mar-19
First thing I do is to check the charity administration expense to the amount given directly to the mission, if it is over 20% it is a no go. The Salvation Army is one that I will contribute to and phone marketing charities is a no go.

One of my clients was making between $400-$600 panhandling on weekends, his social worker had 5 mos of his SSI checks that he didn't pickup to cash out. This gent was hit in the back of the head with a baseball bat and robbed which did increase brain damage. I seen him getting a $20 from a gent when he had liquid stool running down his leg, thought to myself that was the trick to panhandling, true happening.`

If money had handles you can hold on to it but it slips out very fast and is hard to gain back. Be wise who you give to, there is many charades that is going on.
