A great deal of false history being pushed today...... fact is bad things happened, brutally bad things. And these things are/were human failings, not race specific. All races have brutal evil things in their history.
But it does seem the ones who were "best" at it and won the most will take most of the heat. So many contradictory views...... Confederacy linked with slavery so currently labeled evil.... and the Union as heroes. Yet the "Union" presided over much of the Native American genocide and during the war had their fair share of murderous pillaging units of marauders.
They were basically brutal times and few that were completely innocent. Comparing them to modern times...... well, they are just not comparable, as much as those bored with their first world problems try to make them to be. Being outraged and perpetually angry is much more emotionally satisfying than dealing with and fixing problems rationally.
Abraham Lincoln gets credit for freeing the slaves but in reality he did not free 1 single slave.
The Amancipation Proclomation was a military policy and legally only freed slaves in territories the Union had no control over.
The real heroes of the abolition movement was Frederick Douglas, Harriet Tubman, Spooner, ect.
Any time we de-humanize any segment of our human race it never leads to anything good.
Lincoln usedthe slavery issue as a moral banner after the war started and had plans to ship African Americans to islands to be colonized.
Loncoln jailed 3000 newspaper employees in the north for speaking out against his invasion of the south.
Just shows how rediculous it is.
