What is the scandal and what should we be outraged at? That the superintendent "lied" about Cruz having nothing to do with the program? That Cruz never attended the program? That the program existed in the first place? That this program existing some how led to this individual killing 17 of his fellow classmates?
The scandal is that they went soft on him and looked the other way to get more free govt. cash. Maybe, just maybe if this kid was dealt with the right way this tragedy might not have happened.

Pray tell what "the right way" is and how that would have prevented this tragedy?? Maybe if he actually completed the PROMISE program, it might have prevented this tragedy. Maybe if our gun control background checks were stronger and included more allowances for mental health, it might have prevented this tragedy.
You can maybe this this thing until the cows come home. If you want to be outraged that there is a government funding that goes to the PROMISE program, then fine. But jumping to the conclusion that there is some scandal and conspiracy whereby administrators are intentionally going soft on discipline in an effort to secure more government funding and that this somehow led to the shooting at MSD is a pretty big leap.
Fox news reported that the schools were not reporting crimes the kids did because Obama thought the police record would be bad for the kids later in life. They were bragging about how crime went down in the schools under Obama's watch. It didn't go down it just wasn't being reported. The sheriff played right into this mess and wouldn't arrest the kids and if they did there were no reports written. That's the name of that tune.

Really?? What crimes did he commit on campus that would have prevented him from legally purchasing a firearm? Misdemeanors like fighting and vandalism (which got him referred to the PROMISE program) aren't grounds for losing your 2nd Amendment rights. Seems to be an awful lot of conflating today on the CF...
Got it...because Nikolas Cruz was not expelled for vandalizing school property in middle school, it opened the door to him shooting up a school six years later...nevermind the fact that he was ultimately expelled from that same school a year earlier for fighting another student. Man, if only the police had known he vandalized a school bathroom in 2013 I'm sure they would have averted this whole tragedy...
Don't know. No one has articulated anything he did do with certainty that should have resulted in his 2nd Amendment rights being revoked. And no one has articulated how handing Cruz over to the authorities to process his fighting and vandalism misdemeanors would have prevented a clearly mentally ill individual from committing a mass murder.

Hmmm, I must've missed where that motivation was articulated by the parties involved? I've attached the Broward County Collaborative Agreement on School Discipline that articulated why the PROMISE program was established and nowhere do I see the word "Obama" or "money."
Good to keep in the loop on these things guys. So in summary: 1) The Cruz shooting is related to a Government funding scam. Versus the more obvious story of a troubled, mentally ill young man having (way to) easy access to firearms. 2). This is Obamas fault. (Versus this was a troubled mentally ill young man who had way-to-easy assess to guns). I'm glad I stop by the CF once in a great while to read this stuff. What can one say to such "unconventional" analysis?

You said yourself "more focus on mental health issues in background checks...." If no one reports any issues it kinda screws that all up wouldn't you think? Like when the police were called all those many times, violent threats, etc. and nothing done. This fits the pattern of officials not doing their job rather than the narrative of gun control.
Leftists are blaming guns, the NRA and "lax" gun laws..... want more regulation,tighter laws, certain guns banned, etc. It NEEDS to be pointed out where all that fails and is worthless as we are not effectively enforcing the CURRENT laws now.
Then they have the nerve to complain that actually enforcing the laws (which in contradiction they also want to expand and tighten regulation) is TOO strict and "discriminatory" and shouldn't be enforced..... well, OK, maybe enforced on rednecks.....
Plenty of blame to go around on this one, everyone who knew (or suspected) something and did (or said) nothing has a lot of soul searching to do. And to those who DID or SAID something, that was ignored, or not followed up upon, or not acted upon, they should be looking to hold some people accountable.
Seems like some people will say anything to distract from being able to blame the inanimate object.
God forbid we hold an actual human being responsible for something.
Isn't it interesting that the Media seems to always fail in identifying the sources of any news story. For them, Hogg and the anti-2A fanatics, the first target of outrage was the NRA. Instead, we find that the problem of killer Cruz originates in their own backyard of the Parkland School system. Zeidan style cognation.
