Picked up a Darton Clipper 89B3771 28# 60” RH recurve bow this morning at the local swap meet for $10. I am new to archery, so I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this bow. It’s in great condition and is an all wood design. I’m thinking that it is an older bow, but being a bit of a history buff, I was hoping someone might know what decade it is from.

Go to the LW for an answer, the Darton was the primary bows on the local bowshot in the early 70s. Just use regular Dacron string on it and check for any stress fractures in the limbs, they have been known to blow a limb if not stored appropriately, enjoy.

We have since restrung the bow and have not seen any cracking or problems with functionality. It shoots great! It also appears to be an all wood single piece bow as the limbs are permanently affixed to the riser in one piece. There also does not appear to be any fiberglass on this bow. I looked up the made and model so the speak and most I came up with had fiberglass on the limbs.

Decent entry level bow, average performance. At that weight it would make a good form bow. If your draw is over 28" I would not shoot it much, it will create stress lines in the glass.
