For a century we’ve had nothing but a peaceful cooperative relationship w Canada. Now we have trump in a phone call asking Trudeau “didn’t you guys burn down the White House in that war?” No doubt alluding to the War of 1812 where the British burned the White House. Maybe going forward we should require our presidents to take a history course?

Canada has given the US refuge during 9/11. They’ve supported us in every war including the landing on DDay w the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion.

Now? We push away our allies as we schmooze w Putin and NK, calling Kim Jong Un “honorable?”

We have a trade surplus w Canada. That’s correct SURPLUS. But yet more tariffs? Why?

It’ll be interesting to see trump at the G-7. It’s not going to be fun for him. That’s for sure.

Some examples of how far we’ve slid in the world.

1). In a UN resolution meeting, Nikki Haley asked every member to stand w the US on a resolution. Not one agreed. Not one. In the past, every nation would’ve stood with us because being friends w the US used to mean something. Today? It would mean being harassed and harangued by trump.

2). Our approval rating in the world has fallen from 48% to just under 30%.

3). The Gallup poll puts our global approval of US leadership at just 30%, slightly behind China on 31% and only three points ahead of Russia. Germany is now the top-rated global power in the world, with an approval rating of 41%.

I do, no worries Trump is going to have them eating out of his gold colored palm.

07-Jun-18
Trump is already on twitter complaining about Canada PM Justin Trudeau and going to Canada for the G7. He is telling aides the trip won't be useful & that he doesn't want to be lectured. He also has griped extensively about Angela Merkel and Theresa May.

So basically he's pissed that he has to do his actual job?

Trump is set to demonstrate at the G7 summit in Quebec--once again--that he never learned to play well with others. While the news may focus on some inane, alienating comment by Trump, the bigger story is the long-term damage Trump is doing to our international interests.

From: scentman

You should love Trump, not being able to play well with others and all... just sayn.

07-Jun-18
Snarky, but trump could start the G7 by at least being honest. He's claiming Canada exploits the US, however. According to his own US Trade Representative Office, the US had a $8.4 billion trade surplus with Canada last year. Its expected to have close to a 10 billion surplus this year. You can't just make stuff up when you are dealing with US allies. Unlike his rabid base, other countries will actually verify what he says.

Canada is also the #1 importer of US agricultural products, more than even China. But sure, piss them off some more.

The greatest nation on the planet is the United States of America, and we finally have a president that represents its best interests and the interests of its citizens. We haven't had that since Reagan, and he was beholden to the Party. A Party infested with globalists. President Trump is a strong and visionary leader who does NOT play the globalist game. Loud-mouthed leaders pitching a fit when the truth is revealed behind their wealth, and so they inspire their socialist base to riot against our nation's leader because OUR money didn't mean much to them.

That's okay. Our President has big shoulders and is willing to take everything they throw at him because he loves America FIRST...

All kidding aside I did not support Donald Trump during the primary, he wasn't even in my top 5. I supported him during the election simply because even if he did not follow through with what he ran on he would have been far better than the one alternative. In reality he has surpassed all expectations, rating more conservative than Reagan by a long shot and already achieving over 60% of his campaign promises according to the Heritage Foundation. Truly refreshing to have a president who works for we the people, for the betterment of the USA, and does NOT work for the global cabal or the Party. Jeffrey, you claim we're full of it, but you have yet to put forward any evidence of it. Explain which part of anything I said or LHCA said that is erroneous. Again, would you advocate Putin rejoining the G7? and if so, why?

Trump's demand that Putin be restored to his place in the once-upon-a-time G8—currently G7—must be explained as exactly what it is: *sanctions relief*. Which is why Putin wanted trump in the WH.

The entire Trump-Russia scandal is about Trump trading sanctions relief for business opportunities in Russia. It's that simple. So far, its working out for both Putin and Trump.

G7+2 Cry Uncle – President Trump Unfazed and Undeterred, Tariffs Will Continue Until Equity Improves… Posted on June 8, 2018 by sundance

President Trump has taken the Godzilla Trump meme to levels beyond ordinary imaginings. In advance of the G7 summit in Charlevoix, Canada Prime Minister Trudeau sounded the alarm and called in all like-minded allies to help fend off horrible Trump and his arsenal of tariffs.

French President Emmanuel Macron responded to Trudeau’s plea and arrived two-days early to coordinate the strategic message. Together they were looking for leverage in advance of Godzilla Trump’s arrival. Germany’s Angela Merkel, and U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May even brought non-G7 members European Council President Donald Tusk, and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker as back-up.

Apparently the six-against-one plan was considered unfair to the six, so they added two more. Unfortunately for Canada, France, Germany and the U.K., Japanese PM Shinzo Abe and Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte are not foolish enough to take on Godzilla.

As an entirely predictable outcome, President Trump won again. It’s just so darned funny to watch this play out. The era of the titan is back, and deliciously the titan is an American President, Donald J Trump. He’s one guy, and he has them all surrounded; and he’s laughing the entire time. He’s impenetrable, sharp, funny as heck and monolithic in stature making all of his opposition look decidedly less-than.

Emmanuel Macron and Justin Trudeau (like the Closet Democrat & P.C.T.P.) try to use pontificating snark; it matters not. They seem like foolish gnats. Merkel, May, Tusk and Junker are standing there with their jaws agape. Shinzo Abe and Giuseppe Conte are trying not to laugh – but gosh, you can tell they are loving it. Titans just don’t get embarrassed, they dominate.

British Prime Minister Theresa May gave it the old college try on Friday warning both Trump and the EU of the dangers of entering a tit-for-tat trade war over tariffs, and urging both sides to instead focus on China’s excess steel production. Trump responded: “We’re going to deal with the unfair trade practices. If you look at what Canada, and Mexico, the European Union – all of them – have been doing to us for many, many decades. We have to change it. And they understand it’s going to happen,” Trump said.

Have a crumpet.

(Reuters) U.S. trading partners are furious over Trump’s decision last week to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from Canada, the European Union and Mexico as part of his “America First” agenda. Some have retaliated.

Trump just doesn’t care.

Friday’s trade session, where G7 allies planned to confront the U.S. president over trade tariffs, had “some emotions” but was civilized and diplomatic, said the official who followed the talks.

“The other leaders presented their numbers and Trump presented his. As expected he did not budge.

[…] Expectations for a breakthrough at the summit, however, are low, with U.S. allies focused on avoiding rupturing the G7, which in its 42-year history has tended to seek consensus on major issues.

“It’s highly unlikely there will be a final communique,” a G7 official said on condition of anonymity.

President Trump is masterful in his pursuit of trade deals. it isn't the same old boys club now at the G7 or right back here in American politics, we have someone at the top who isn't controlled by Party or cabal. We all thank you President Trump!

Now in the meantime we have booger eating doper lefthandedmasterbater and Paul the bedwetter Zeidan stroking each other with leftist lies and liberal fantasy. Absolutely entertaining to watch! President Trump once again has these blind dumb sheep liberals in the dark and totally fooled. He SAYS a lot of things, THAT'S just part of the negotiation. Watch what he DOES. Throw the Rushkies a carrot and see where it lands, then pull it away if the timing is right. At the same time like the pathetic liberal LBJ said "it might be better having him in the tent pissing out than outside the tent pissing in." Meanwhile, President Trump is running the show at the G7 meetings, he takes dictation from nobody unlike Parasite OBOZO the America hating race pimp did.

"After boarding a crowded ship to Alaska, Trump trekked over mountains, through Canadian customs, and to the Yukon River where he had to build a boat from scratch and transport a year's worth of personal supplies. The worst was a notorious mountain pass. The U.S. National Parks Service estimates 3,000 animals died on the White Pass, with many bones still visible today in its so-called Dead Horse Gulch."

That story about President Trumps grandfather opening a restaurant brothel in the Yukon is pretty cool. Very few men struck it rich there..... but he was smart......

My wife and I rode the White Pass Railway on vacation in Skagway Alaska last month. It follows the dead horse trail that men walked up to get to the Yukon during the gold rush. I can't imagine carrying a years worth of supplies up those mountains just to get to the Yukon River... and then have to build a boat that would get them down the Yukon.... I probably would have spent a few nights at Trump's tavern to get some rest before I tried.

We visited the Red Onion Saloon in Skagway..... It too was a brothel. One of the girls that works there dressed up in the original working girl clothes greeted us at the door and asked my wife...... "You looking for a job ?"............ Ha !!!!

Paul the bed wetter Zeidan with yet another brainless approach. Apparently he’s not even bright enough to realize there are many multiple issues at play here. President Trump is addressing all of them, but they are not all necessarily related. How refreshing it is to have this strong and visionary leader working for America and its citizens. We had exactly the opposite with Parasite Obama the America hating race pimp. Thank you President Trump!!

Why in the world would any red-blooded American complain about Trump revealing the hidden facts behind our trade deficits? Don't you left-wingers realize that money comes out of our pockets?

We finally have a president that has the integrity & fortitude to fight for FAIR TRADE. That old phony 'free trade' scam was never 'free' for American citizens. And now that we've helped to rebuild other nations from the devastations of WWII, etc, etc, (and probably lined many pockets of foreign 'dignitaries') it is time to put an end to that foolishness.....

Wake up, lefties, and get aboard the common sense train, for a change! Sheeeeesh.....

sorry but trump will learn that other countries don't just say how high when Trump says jump.

Trade is more complicated then what’s been described. and there are good deals & bad deals. But starting a trade war is stupid & hurts Americans. Every economist agrees. Including Kudlow.

You MUST understand that the US represents only 5% of the world population. There are well over 1 billion people on this planet with incomes that match or are above those of American's 300 million plus. They have MANY trading opportunities WITHOUT the USA. MAGA is a CON job.

So President Trump should feel a strong sense of satisfaction with a job well done after leaving the slightly pointless Group of Seven (G-7) summit in Canada on Saturday for another likely far more consequential summit in Singapore with North Korea dictator Kim Jong Un.

The U.S. president’s critics are all using identical language in their denunciations of his policy positions.

The complaints from U.S. allies over President Trump’s trade policies is that these polices are “unprecedented.” They say he is undermining the “rules-based international order.”

That, as far as the global foreign policy establishment is concerned, is all you need to say. End of discussion. Notice that they don’t actually engage with the substance of President Trump’s arguments at all.

We hear these criticisms from the pompous pearl-clutchers of the international elite. These include:

· World leaders with their bland communiques carefully crafted by time-serving bureaucrats who think they really run the show.

· Arrogant and unaccountable corporate stooges who run globalist multilateral institutions like the International Monetary Fund and the European Union.

· Self-regarding after-dinner pontificators of the Washington think tank circuit who float snootily over the real-world catastrophes engendered by their ideology without ever acknowledging that it may have even the slightest defect.

· The gullible commentators and journalists who unquestioningly lap up all this self-serving elitist Pablum while presenting themselves as fearless pursuers of “the truth.”

When I think of all these people piling on President Trump for daring to question their worldview, the pithy phrase of author Nassim Taleb comes to mind: “IYI – Intellectual Yet Idiot.”

These people remind me of my university professors at Oxford in the late 1980s. As part of my Philosophy, Politics and Economics course I was studying “Communist Government in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe” and “Economics of Communist Countries.”

There was just one rather major problem. Thanks to President Reagan and British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher’s unyielding leadership, the Soviet Union had been defeated in the Cold War. The Berlin Wall came down. “Communist Government” collapsed.

This left my “expert” professors at Oxford – most of whom had made their reputations and their living as “Kremlinologists” who could explain what was going on inside the old order – gasping like goldfish out of water as they were confronted by the reality of the new order.

These professor literally couldn’t understand it or explain the new order. And I got the very strong impression that they were actually rather sad to see the old order collapse; disappointed to witness the people-powered revolutions that finally overthrew the brutal and corrupt authoritarian regimes in my home country of Hungary, in East Germany, and elsewhere across the former Soviet empire.

In exactly the same way, it seems to me today that the foreign policy establishment is so invested in the old, pre-populist way of doing things – the elitist world order that gave us untrammeled and unfair globalization – that they cannot see its flaws, instinctively reject any criticism of it, and fight to preserve it despite the manifest cruelties it has imposed on working people in the Western world.

Let’s just take a look at that “rules-based international order” that the elitists are so anxious to defend.

In country after country, the old order made the rich richer and working people poorer as incomes went down and jobs went away. It ripped apart the social fabric, helping to destroy local communities and break apart families. It undermined faith in government and democracy, as citizens saw that it didn’t matter who they voted for in actual elections – the same, elite-serving policies would be pursued regardless.

The “rules-based international order” isn’t just unfair, as we’ve seen in relation to trade and tariffs, where the playing field is tilted heavily against America and permits rampant protectionism by the EU, Canada and others.

The “rules-based international order” is ineffective as well. It didn’t stop Russia from invading Crimea and Ukraine. It didn’t stop the rise of Al Qaeda and ISIS. It didn’t stop Iran destabilizing the Middle East. It didn’t stop China from getting to the brink of world domination. Oh – and it didn’t stop North Korea from getting nuclear weapons. But to the bitter chagrin of the foreign policy establishment, President Trump just might.

So yes, when President Trump confronts the failures of the “rules-based international order” directly, after decades of pusillanimous acquiescence by his predecessors, you could describe that as “unprecedented.”

But doing things that are “unprecedented” is the very definition of Donald Trump’s mandate. That’s what he was elected to do. To shake things up. To change things. When you do something new, it is unprecedented. That’s literally what it means.

And yet the elites throw around that word “unprecedented” as a criticism. Nothing could be more revealing of their true beliefs: they actually loved the old order because they and their rich friends benefited from it. How disgraceful that they howl in protest when President Trump finally puts working people first.

We’ll be debating all this on Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT on “The Next Revolution” on the Fox News Channel – hope you can join us!

Larry Kudlow was ecstatic over Trump's position & his comments at the G-7 today. So your claim about him is 100% wrong, Paul. Open the video below and scroll to 10:10, and begin to watch closely........

Trading with these countries cost us over 800 Billion last year. So, with no changes in international trade, we are looking at losing more than 8 Trillion dollars over the next 10 years. And there are more losing deals in place if they're not interrupted. So those need to go, too. We MUST STOP the fleecing of American citizens.

Trump could never be half the leader Trudeau is. He’s respected, loved and he conducts himself with decorum. Unlike our orange tinged conman.

And while we’re at it. From Trumps own trade Office:

US-Canada Trade Facts, 2017

Total goods & services trade: $673.9 billion

US exports: $341.2 billion US imports: $332.8 billion

US trade SURPLUS: $8.4 billion

(data from US Trade Representative webpage)

So why are we alienating Canada again? Any good reason at all?

Even more inaccurate information from PZ....

"U.S.-Canada Trade Facts

U.S. goods and services trade with Canada totaled an estimated $673.9 billion in 2017. Exports were $341.2 billion; imports were $332.8 billion. The U.S. goods and services trade surplus with Canada was $8.4 billion in 2017.

However, the international shipment of non-U.S. goods through the United States can make standard measures of bilateral trade balances potentially misleading. For example, it is common for goods to be shipped through regional trade hubs without further processing before final shipment to their ultimate destination. This can be seen in data reported by the United States’ two largest trading partners, Canada and Mexico.

The U.S. data report a $17.5 billion goods deficit with Canada in 2017, and a $71.1 billion goods deficit with Mexico. Both countries, however, reported substantially larger U.S. goods surpluses in the same relationship. In 2017, Canada reported a $97.7 billion surplus, and Mexico a $132.4 billion surplus."

See that? 2017 US deficit was $17.5 B ... while Canada had a surplus of $97.7 B .... and this cannot continue. Ask Larry Kudlow. He backs Trump all the way on this.

President Trump: Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal. According to a Canada release, they make almost 100 Billion Dollars in Trade with U.S. (guess they were bragging and got caught!). Minimum is 17B. Tax Dairy from us at 270%. Then Justin acts hurt when called out! Why should I, as President of the United States, allow countries to continue to make Massive Trade Surpluses, as they have for decades, while our Farmers, Workers & Taxpayers have such a big and unfair price to pay? Not fair to the PEOPLE of America! $800 Billion Trade Deficit… And add to that the fact that the U.S. pays close to the entire cost of NATO-protecting many of these same countries that rip us off on Trade (they pay only a fraction of the cost-and laugh!). The European Union had a $151 Billion Surplus-should pay much more for Military!… Germany pays 1% (slowly) of GDP towards NATO, while we pay 4% of a MUCH larger GDP. Does anybody believe that makes sense? We protect Europe (which is good) at great financial loss, and then get unfairly clobbered on Trade. Change is coming!

Trudeau is a globalist, and a laughingstock. Hated in Canada outside the liberal bastions of the big metro city. He is a punk and a putz, that's why Paul Zeidan likes him so much. Trudeau is about to be spanked and taught a lesson. It will be fun to watch! " Unlike our orange tinged conman." I have spoken a few times to our neighbors up north while in bear and moose camp. Your observations are exactly what I have witnessed. Some favor the Liberal govt in QC but the majority hands down do not like it. The further west you go in Canada the more noticeable it seems. On the Liberal side....I was in a moose camp in northern QC. I struck up a conversation with one of the older ladies who worked there about politics one night. One of her relatives had recently bought a new house and when the economy started to go south up there this relative was about to lose his house. She, with a straight face, firmly felt the Canadian govt should be making the house payments for him and anyone else in trouble. I asked her where the money will come from and she stated raise the taxes on the wealthy folks to make other's house payments....and she was serious. It was a great discussion and an eye opener for me. On the flip side....the owner of the camp was in a different political party than her. I think he was a doctor or lawyer. She liked the owner but didn't like his political party. I don't know where he stood but she wasn't kind about his party. We ended up hugging at the end of the evening. Her two daughters worked at the moose camp and they were very cute. I think one of them was one of the bush pilots.

What is going to be interesting is if Trudeau puts a tariff on the U.S. hunters and fishermen that cross the border. There was talk a few years back of splitting the country up. Not sure where that went.

When the "what's the matter, where are you going?" questions hit...... the answers are " I don't have time to listen to this, it's not even a serious offer, it's all bovine excrement. When you are serious give me call. Until then we will continue on with what we have planned.... have a nice life...."

"Fair" Trade. Leftists use the word "fair" a lot. But their meaning is different than what most folks think they mean. "Fair" to leftists does not mean equal. It's giving handicaps, changing the rules to get more equal RESULTS, not equal RULES to the game, with all playing by the same rules. In Monopoly they would give most of the money to the worst players at the start..... to make it "fair". They would give the slower players a head start. They hand out Participation trophies..... don't keep score, etc. to get what they feel is a "fair" outcome.

In reality their "fair" is simply a ploy to justify cheating. As with most things they do..... the lies, the cheating..... it's all justifiable for their "cause". Takiyyah.

PZ, it would be great if our farmers had Canada as their friend. But they don't, and they haven't for several years. That's because Canada was placed in a position to take advantage of our farmers by past American policies, which correspondingly forced every hard working American to help subsidize their losses for a number of decades now.
