The Atlanta Fed released their projection for US GDP as of August 24th and the results are very good for Americans –
The GDPNow model estimate for real GDP growth (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the third quarter of 2018 is 4.6 percent on August 24, up from 4.3 percent on August 16. After yesterday’s releases on new-home sales and costs from the U.S. Census Bureau, the nowcast of third-quarter real residential investment growth increased from -4.5 percent to -1.1 percent. After this morning’s advance durable manufacturing report from the Census Bureau, the nowcast of third-quarter real nonresidential equipment investment growth increased from 6.4 percent to 7.5 percent and the nowcast of the contribution of inventory investment to third-quarter real GDP growth increased from 1.92 percentage points to 2.03 percentage points.
John Roberts is reporting the tentative deal is a re-work of the existing NAFTA deal and is only between the US and Mexico. Nothing has been done with Canada yet although it puts alot of pressure on Canada now. The stock market is bumping up.

Mexico has increased there vegetable production over the last few years to where it has become increasingly difficult to just compete in the market with them. Grower representatives have told us that this deal will not do anything to control/tax/regulate vegetable exports from Mexico. Like the above poster said “winners and losers” in every “deal” Not gonna hang my head about it, should be an opportunity to pursue something else. With the labor and regulation challenges we face just in FL, it’s not worth the money/risk to fight it anymore.
That's a bummer. I'm originally born and raised in Florida. I know around the area I'm from alot of farmers bring in migrants for the harvest. I wonder if they will loose their jobs too?
H2A workers labor rate is about 13$ an hr, a good picker in Mexico makes 5$ a day. I had domestic labor picking tomatoes for me that we’re making 20-25$ an hr.
Just had family in from North Platte for son's wedding. Railroad can't hire enough, offering sign on bonuses, advertising everywhere. Coal is starting to roll again. I would visit years ago and you would hear the trains constantly then it dried up under odipwad.
The US only imposes 2.5% tariffs on most vehicles. Thought it imposes a much stiffer 25% tariff on light trucks. I don't know if the EU makes many of those, though.
It's almost as if refusing to play the sap for someone treating you unfairly sometimes forces them to start treating you more fairly.

And as far as the tariffs being removed on European “light trucks” (a category that includes pickup trucks, sport-utility vehicles, and big vans), yes, they make a fair amount of those and yes, they’re basically cut off from the biggest market for those. I would guess going to a zero tariff model (which we should!) would have a bigger negative impact on American car manufacturers than it would on European car manufacturers.
