So, now Mandalay Bay has announced a countersuit toward the victims of the shooting tragedy.

First question I have is, (since its obvious that their money is more important than the folks that suffered any part of this) if their security company was tied to Homeland Security, who's to say money hasn't already traveled up that trail to the FBI? Might help explain the long silence from LEO's.

Sounds to me like the security company has lot to learn about "hotel security".

Trublucolo-so you don't think the hotel or their security is liable in any way? Why have a Dept. of Homeland Security endorsed security company that has no clue that a single hotel guest carted hundreds of pounds of hardware in multiple suitcases, in multiple trips, up and down the elevator?

I don't think they are at all liable....

Do you suggest hotels should now violate your right to privacy and open all your suitcases?

Im not suggesting that gflight. But it seems to be the knee-jerk reaction to these types of things. Im just a little stymied by the silence of it all!

They've already been hit with around 2500 lawsuits after the incident...this has to stop sometime, needs to have an "endpoint"!

Unless it can be shown that gross negligence occurred, I do not think they are liable.

Every time one of these events occurs the conspiracy industry revs up. I feel compassion for those who lost loved ones and will never know in their own minds with certainty of what exactly happened.

I still see this as a whack job, and the response we witnessed was one of being taken by surprise. These whack jobs keep coming up with wild plans and I just don't think those in LE can properly train and have everyone ready for every new variant of whack job terror.

Though I have carried at our college for quite some time, and mentally try to rehearse various situations, I still have doubts that I would execute in the manner required for me to keep my students safe.

I have talked now to a couple young men enrolled in our Police Academy about their second guessing their career choice. I can understand why. We want to critique their actions even when everything goes correctly, and then spread conspiracy theories when things go south. We are having a negative impact on encouraging people to enter LE at a time they really need our support, IMO.

If anyone is liable, other than the shooter, to me it would be the security company, not the Hotel. The security company is supposed to be there to watch for things that don't fit the mold. A room with a No Disturb sign for multiple days, registered to a single guest, that was having multiple large bags and boxes delivered to it over that same time period? Sounds pretty dang suspicious to me...but I'm just an old computer programmer, not a security specialist...

No one is liable but the shooter and anyone who may have conspired to help him. Problem is we have zero idea of what really happened. Only conflicting details and reports. As was stated when this happened, we will probably never truly know what caused this. And if found out, the public probably would never be told.

My one concern about this is people like to suggest that anyone who doesn't willing stand by and say all is well and good with direction of our society and, the countless evil acts people portray on others, then they are labeled conspiracy nuts. It is the idea man kind has evolved or, matured past the human nature that causes it, that ensures it will forever be a problem we can't address. That isn't conspiracy. That is certified fact. History has proven it and, human kind will continue to fall victim to it. God Bless men

".... we will probably never truly know what caused this. And if found out, the public probably would never be told."

More accurately, "We have a pretty good idea what happened and why, but the public will refuse to believe it when they are told."
