Have you boycotted all music because of the actions of a few?
Still watch 1 news channel but call all others fake news?
Get upset when Zumbo made an idiot of himself and demanded print media drop him, but still read other outdoor writers?
I can do this all day but the point is if you are boycotting the NFL you are likely a hypocrite and even worse- if you have gotten into an argument over it you are probably an idiot
Michael
.. ….
.. .. .
Well which is it? Hypocrite, or a person who just does not agree with you?
I dont watch much news anymore either. There is so much on these days that isnt child appropriate that even watching fox news has my kids asking lots of questions and hearing words they never have before
Franzen- not butthurt just tired of people here and everywhere bitching about someone watching it. if you want to watch then watch, if not then don't
Agreed. So why start the thread then? Others bitch, so by golly I'm going to as well?
the Vikings are like that hot chick that was your friend in college. Sure you wanted to take it up a notch and she would flirt with you just enough to jeep the dream alive- hell you might have even had too many beers and went skinny dipping- but in the end she married the prick from her high school....

One of the first things I thought too.
"MN is paradise. Especially compared to Philadelphia." Well lets just see here. Comparing a state with a city is being a bit deceitful. Compare the state of Pa. with the state of MN home of the governor the people of MN elected, Jesse "the body" Ventura and Senator AL Franken. Now you tell me all about "Paradise". Philadelphia today is a shit hole and I know because I lived there when the city was a good place to raise your children. I have been in Bucks County the past 40 yrs of my life and I can say this and the facts will bear this out, ALL things considered, few places, not just in this state or your state, but in this nation, could compare.
So what this boils down to is one player hails from MN. as you claim. All else is your anchor to dislodge. ;-)
The Rock
But just who are you to be able to make a decision on such a matter?
I say you are the hypocrite by watching the NFL games by throwing away your respect of your country so you can get your couple hours of enjoyment.
If you feel so strongly about watching the NFL games at least show respect to this great country and watch the games in another country after you leave.

They are politicians and I have little to no connection to them what so ever.
Stopped watching any televised sports over 7 years ago...initially, it was due to the excessive amount of commercials and the lengthening of time commitment. The politicization of sports (initially meant for entertainment) merely adds justification for my choice.
I gave up watching any news programs (both local and national) about the same time.
You know, after a while, one does not even miss any of this...and I have a lot more time to actually "do things". ;o)
Minnesota as most states have abundant area(s) of natural beauty. Sadly the Dems control all the large population centers in every city and with it the crime and ghettos. Philly is a prime example.

Parents. Period.
Shelby Steele, the black author of White Guilt is absolutely correct. "White guilt" is fanning the flames of racism in America. The constant allegation and conviction that the "white" man, ironically by the "white" man himself, committed a crime against the black man has thrown civil rights back 60 years. As Shelby Steele notes " every race was enslaved at one time or another in history but only black Americans can't accept that fact. In the process the "white" man's begging of forgiveness for a crime that has been committed through the ages, and, continues till this day, has further emboldened the "black" man to use this conviction to their advantage every chance they get and will "work" race into every equation to validate and deepen the white guilt. This conviction becomes in fact their permanent ace in the hole keeping the white man on his heels.
I believe you to be a racist simply through your insistence to include "white". Now you tell me. Am I on the right track?
The Rock
My observations of everyday people not respecting the National Anthem is completely different than black athletes intentionally disrespecting it and the flag.....
Calling me a racist is laughable..........
I decided to boycott the NFL because I chose to. I don't need yours or anyone else's approval to do so. I don't owe anyone an explanation for doing so. You choose to continue watching it. There is no need to tell me why you think I should agree. If you don't have the spine to make your own decisions, based on your own convictions, and be comfortable enough about it to not get defensive, that isn't on me.
DO I think less of you for watching it? Potentially I do. Does that make me a hypocrite? No it doesn't. I watch Fox news, you tube, and presidential speeches. Very few if any movies. And, recently threw away my Eric Church cd's based on principle. That is just me. My choice. Not yours.
My only complaint is if the American people had stood together on this, then there would be no kneeling going on now. It does indeed bother me that Americans seem to be unwilling to do without for the greater good if it requires dedication and sacrifice. I simply refuse to allow any organization or person to mislabel an obvious disrespect for my country while continuing to support them. That is why I did it. If you don't see it that way, then that is your right. But, to expect me to agree to make you feel better isn't going to happen.
AMEN!!!!
Then why the statement "white AND black"? Are the two somehow different? Are blacks the only people kneeling at these NFL games? Little nuggets of truth unconsciously escape us at times when we speak. Maybe someday you will get to Mar's. At this time you have confined yourself to travel in thought only as far as earth allows.

Having stated that, I must fully disclose that in the case of my personal boycott of the NFL (actually started way before this and for a different reason) it is made much easier to do as the Queens are the home team! Besides that I'd rather go hunting or fishing than stuck inside watching TV.

NFL Week 1: Stinker Start For Monday Night Football Rams-Raiders ties second-worst Week 1 rating in years
by Paulsen September 11, 2018 in ESPN, NFL, Ratings NFL Week 1: Stinker Start For Monday Night Football

The new Monday Night Football broadcast team debuted in front of one of the smallest Week 1 audiences on record.
Rams-Raiders scored a 5.9 rating and 9.6 million viewers in the second half of ESPN’s Week 1 Monday Night Football doubleheader, down a tick in ratings and 3% in viewership from last year (Chargers-Broncos: 6.0, 9.9M) and down 5% and 6% respectively from 2016 (Rams-49ers: 6.2, 10.3M).
Los Angeles’ win, which peaked at a 7.5 and 12.5 million from 10:45-11 PM ET, tied the lowest Week 1 MNF rating on record. It matched 49ers-Cardinals in the same late night window 11 years ago.
Including the 102,000 viewers who watched the game on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes, the game’s audience of 9.71 million was the smallest in Week 1 since 2008 (Broncos-Raiders: 9.67M).
Overall, Rams-Raiders tied the second-lowest Week 1 NFL rating — on any network — since at least 2000 (120 telecasts). A 2008 FOX regional window had a 5.1. It ranks as the sixth-least watched Week 1 window over that span.
Earlier in the night, Jets-Lions had a 6.2 and 10.3 million — down 9% in both measures from last year (Saints-Vikings: 6.8, 11.4M) and down 19% and 20% respectively from 2016 (Pittsburgh-Washington: 7.7, 13.0M). The game had 10.4 million with ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes included.
The Jets’ easy win, which peaked at a 7.6 and 12.8 million from 9:30-9:45 PM ET, tied the fourth-lowest Week 1 MNF rating on record. It also posted the series’ fifth-smallest Week 1 audience.
In adults 18-49, Jets-Lions had a 3.8 rating (-10%) and Rams-Raiders a 3.7 (-6%). In adults 18-34, both games had a 3.1 — down 14% and 6% respectively from last year (3.6; 3.3).
The ESPN broadcast of Jets-Lions had an 8.7 rating in Detroit and a 7.7 in New York City, with local over-the-air simulcasts earning a 16.7 on WXYZ-ABC in Detroit and a 5.0 on Channel 11 in New York. Rams-Raiders drew a 10.1 in Los Angeles and a 9.9 in the Bay Area on ESPN, with local simulcasts netting a 6.6 on KABC in L.A. and a 9.2 on KGO-ABC in the Bay Area.
My Broncos finally have a decent QB (thanks Vikings), and their defense looks strong as ever. Hoping to put last year’s debacle behind them.
The Vikes and Chiefs do look good, but we’ve played that song several times before. Both teams have a unique way of disappointing their fans. Hehe.
Matt
You’re probably right, Bronco fans have become used to a higher standard than Vike fans, so it takes more to satisfy them.
;-)
Matt
My favorite game, outside the Pat's looking a lot better than I thought they would this year, was the Vikes knocking the 9ers off. My poor wife is predicting 16-0 for her beloved Vikes.
It pisses me off when I hear about players kneeling for the anthem. It's definitely disrespectful. Other things piss me off too so it is what it is. I'm not going to quit watching a team I grew up with over it.

The country is strong enough to house a temporary ailment. The question. Can it withstand a permanent political and social disease?
The Rock
Well, at least the broke their loosing streak...8^)
A new streak will probably begin with the Saints this weekend, but I hope not!
