Is it just me, or have others noticed how the big push for socialism comes from folks who have gained wealth, notoriety and power under a capitalistic system? What they are pushing is a place where they would never had been heard, never had a chance to succeed.
Entertainers, athletes, moguls of all stripes who made their fortunes because of the very system they rail against, to me are the epitome of hypocrites.
No, not hypocrites. They all know full well that in socialist/communist countries there's "the masses" and then there's the ruling class. They know they would be the ruling class and that would make them richer and more powerful than they are now. They aren't stupid.

I watched Ed Asner profess to be a socialist. What I didn't know when researching this a bit ago....Lucille Ball was a card carrying member of the Communist Party back in the 30's. She claimed it was to free a family member(??). She supported and campaigned for FDR and then it is believed she leaned Repub later in life.

Here's an idea. If you are getting a degree in Woman's Studies, you are enabling the wage gap. I know for a fact mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, controls and software engineers have ZERO issue getting a job. Of course they made the decision to get an employable degree, so there is that.
Living wage?
WTH is that? Oh, I get it, those with zero skills and pop out kids like a pez dispenser deserve a nice middle class home, new truck, hi speed internet, Iphone X, well, because they're entitled. Or the girl with dreadlocks down to her waist at McDonalds. She constantly was brushing her 'locks out of her face as she made three Oreo McFlurries for myself, wife and son. What the OP was saying is that it is ironic that the elite class of today promote and condone the very system contrary to how they gained their wealth and because they have it, won't be affected by it while at the same time disallowing anyone else to achieve [their] status.

Leveling the playing field takes out competition and thereby a thriving and prosperous economy.

I assume you mean your taxes? Well your taxes pay for a ton of things you may not like. Some state that you dislike, a kids public schooling, etc. It’s called being a part of a civilized society.
Personally, I enjoy paying taxes. As FDR said, they are the dues we pay for the privilege of membership in a civilized society
There is something patriotic about paying taxes to the nation I love for the betterment of that nation.
I am very happy to pay more tax to support my neighbor, friend or fellow human beings....I prefer to live in a society where we look out for each other. Call me crazy.
I don’t mind helping out people that are hard working and down on their luck but I do mind helping out people who purposely pursue hand outs big difference. Come meet me where I work and I will take you on a ride down the street where you can view couples in their pajamas pushing three kids down the street and see where the tax dollars go. Truly sickening that you dumb libs just don’t see it or are ignorant or just want the votes. Probably all of the above.
Forgot to mention the guy knocking at my window at the gas station asking me for change so he could buy some blunts to roll one with. Yup that’s where my tax dollars are proudly going but hey at least he was honest unlike the last guy there asking for change to buy milk for his baby daughter.

If you were willing to pay more taxes you would. Nothing is stopping you from happily sending a check to the IRS. Nothing except your own hypocrisy. I would read your obituary with the same level of interest and emotion as the ad for Preparation H on the next page. Possibly less, as Prep H actually has a purpose.

You're not imagining it. They're the same hypocrites that tell us guns are "bad", but they're not bad when they're shooting them in their movies and making millions doing so; they're not bad when their body-guards are carrying them...they're just bad when we want to own one.

You go right ahead and blindly donate to govt. program if you want to (e.g. increase your taxes voluntarily) I will work through the local church, my choice of non-profits, etc. who believe in the same principles I do. I also won't force anyone else to pay my church, my choice of not profits , etc. it its for case they don't believe in.

Capitalism, non-profits, rewarding for good management in a merit based system, folks who are actually accountable for their actions. Bad customer service, you don't get my bucks period. I go to a different church, non-profit, etc. to support my neighbor, friend or fellow human beings and not blindly pay to keep a govt. employee a job just because they deserve it, without merit..
