Are they good people ?
I’ve been seeing political ads all over the TV for several months now and it seems the only thing the candidates are saying is nothing for the people or how they will help you it’s all about how bad their opponent is. How he/she stole gov. money, how they made millions for their family by some under the table deal, etc.ect. every thing bad. It seems the only people running for office are crooks. The American people just sit there and watch the freak show, watch them sling mud at each other . Seems if you’re not some kind of low life full of =% you can’t run for office! What ever happened to politicians running on the good they have done or the good they are going to do ? Then on Nov 7th they will all be friends again ripping off the American public and feeding us full of- - - - . I guess it started with low life Bill Clinton . Sad.
You nailed it dead center. However, it started well before the 90's
"What ever happened to politicians running on the good they have done or the good they are going to do ?"
A leftist can get elected no matter their crime history.
Conservatives are considered un-electable if they have one sin (real or imagined) in their past.
Like saying either vote for socialism or not. You do not care if babies are crushed all day long and want socialism, vote dem.
.....and less income, higher taxes and lower property values.
Lower property value would be good for me. I will die on my property so I am not going to sell it but property taxes are based on value.
Not in Illinois! Property taxes here are a cash cow for the *&^%$#@ politicians!!! My place lost ONE THIRD of it's value, and all it did was keep my taxes at the same rate for a while and then it went up anyway. But that's what happens when DEMOCRATS control the state legislature for 4 decades. I really don't know what I'm going to do.....
With all due respect to anyone decrying nastiness in political fights, you need to grow a pair. It is simply human nature showing itself for what it is. Read the article at the link.
When we begin expecting more from our elected officials than we do from ourselves, we give them increasing power over us. They are supposed to be our representatives in governing, not some sinless alter ego. If you've ever engaged in mud-slinging with anyone for any reason, then what is the difference between your actions and theirs?
We've put our politicians into a situation where their fighting is the only evidence we get to publicly see of them going to work. We as citizens need to quit expecting anything but national defense and secured borders from our government and, therefore, our elected representatives. To want and expect more is to fall somewhere along the entitlement mentality spectrum.
No reason for the Pollys to be anything but truthful, everything else is excuses.
As a fellow Illinoisan, I totally understand. If Pritzker wins (which we all assume is going to happen), the wife and I are seriously considering selling and moving to Missouri.
