We got it. It's ok. Alot of yuppie and millennial programming.....of course I'm biased towards old school stuff. The Roku is cool. I have Youtube on the TV so I can watch alot of my old stuff.
Since we dumped cable we've been watching a lot of Netflix. Hell on Wheels is pretty good if you like Deadwood. I like all the nature shows like Blue Planet, etc. The Narcos shows aren't bad. Not a lot of recent movies. You need Amazon Prime for that - and Hulu if you want to watch sports.
Oh, and I forgot - The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. If you like westerns and something a little off-beat, it's a great watch.
Netflix and Amazon...dump the rest. You can search for and watch movies for free although with commercials with CRACKLE.

Btw...the 2 day free shipping with Amazon Prime ( and they do deliver 2 days sometimes overnight) pays for our Amazon Prime membership easily. With Amazon Prime you get it all including unlimited search for any music, etc. $16.00 a month for both and your covered across the board.

We've only had Netflix and Amazon Prime for a number of years and have always been satisfied with content. Well, at least until we moved to Canada earlier this year. The amount of content available here is significantly less than in the US.
Some just can't get enough of the obamas.....:)
"Because politics and entertainment are inextricably intertwined these days, it felt inevitable rather than surprising when Netflix announced it had signed a deal with Barack and Michelle Obama that will see the former president and first lady produce (and possibly appear in) content for the streaming service. It’s a smart pairing for the Obamas, who are making their first foray into producing in an environment that’s likely to give them a lot of time and space to figure out what they’re doing. And while the Obamas are just another high-profile pickup for the free-spending Netflix, the deal also hints at some of the limits of the company’s current approach to programming.
Neither Netflix nor the Obamas are saying yet just how big this deal is."
I like it ok. I don't like commercials, but I don't watch a lot of tv. With a 14 yr old daughter Netflix does have some decent shows that are family friendly. They have Blue Bloods, that's enough for me to keep it.
My wife likes it, she is watching all the old tv series that she never had time for when she was working. Like Cheers, Frazer etc.

They have Andy Griffith too.
Still funny after 50 yrs.
Interesting read. We have Prime and do a lot through that...pondering Netflix though.
Prime is good but a lot of the movies I want to watch are not on Prime.
We have Netflix, Hulu, Prime and HBO Now. We're experimenting for now to see which ones we like best. I like Netflix and HBO Now best so far.
I have Netflix for over 5 years now. I enjoyed watching the Punisher, not the TV series but with Jon Berthal on it, just one season. Also liked western Wind River with Jeremy Renner. Recently watched Killer Elite, starring Jason Statham, Clive Owen and the has been or never was de Niro. I normally watch thrillers, dramas and sci-fis. For cheap and no commercials.
I mostly watch whatever my daughter and wife are watching. Blue Bloods is one of my favorites and Hawaii 5-0.
Hard to find time to watch tv workin 55 to 60 hrs a week. I really liked Person Of interest too.
We're thinking about adding HBO because I want to watch Game of Thrones from the start. Maybe west world. Problem is, I don't want to pay for a channel that pays Bill Maher. One of the reasons I dropped cable in the first place.
AZ... get the free month trial and binge watch GOF.
Have had Netflix, Amazon and Hulu plus a number of free stations on my Roku and have far better TV than ever..even with sucking digital OTA. A little effort in searching will find some gems in programming.
Best...far less than cable or satellite packages.
I like to Netflix and Chill with my wife.............;-)
I have Netflix but seldom watch it, Amazon Prime. But i watch Youtube at lot on my smart TV. Only TV I watch is Friday night to catch Gold Rush and Velocity car shows.
Longmire was a good series that we just binge watched as I put the finishing touches on the new Kitchen for my wife.
Longmire was a great show except the very last minute of the final show.
You can order the first 7 seasons of GoT for fifty bucks on DVD. IMO HBO now is worth it for GoT and West world. Check out the last kingdom too. Think it’s on Netflix. And who cares about Maher? Honestly, if we boycotted everything tied to people we don’t like, we’d be homeless, carless, and starving.
Netflix and Amazon Prime is it for us, no other "paid" TV. Streaming from Prime is a nice bonus, we have the membership basically for the free, fast shipping.
With either service, you have the freedom to stream whatever you want, without commercial interruptions. Some of the new (and older) Netflix releases are not available for streaming, so we put them in queue, and they send DVDs to us. It works.
Oh yea..I watched every episode of Longmire
AZ,
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs sent a good message. ;-)

Be sure to watch the series on Washington's spies. George Washington. Think it was called Turn.

If you enjoy scanning through movies you've never heard of before, or old ones that were never any good to begin with, for hours on end, looking for just ONE good one you'll probably think it's the best damn $8 you ever spent!
We canceled nexflix a couple years ago. Mostly series and kids shows, you go through any decent movies they had pretty fast IMO. Amazon prime is awesome for movies (have to be careful, they switch from free to rent or buy pretty fast if they think you want it bad enough....), youtube for hunting, information/education, hobbies, etc. and hulu (great for sports, not bad for movies and has many of the same channels as Dish) fills up pretty much everything we had when we canceled Dish. Never missed it since. I love the on demand stuff. A bit clunkier to deal with but you get used to it. All at about a third of the cost and don't have to deal with Dish customer service.
Use a Harmony Hub with our phones used as controllers..... best thing we ever did. Controls all the electronics, smart tv, roku, sound system, etc....if you want you can control your lights with it. Replaces ALL the remotes for EVERYTHING. And it works wi-fi so you can use it from another room if you want, don't need line of sight. Always have the phone on me, so no searching around for a remote, much less the right remote. Coach has hers and I have mine. Love it.
Kinda like you TD, we cut cable and now all we have is Netflix (for the wife; I hate it), Amazon Prime, and Youtube (Which I like). It's amazing once you cut the cord what you find you can live without...namely the high prices the providers charge these days.
Started watching Frontier last night. So far it’s not a bad show. Kinda like the movie The Revenant. It’s nice to have something to occupy my evening time during the winter months.
