Tough way to get your buck Here in California you cannot pick up road kill anything legally. I was told that if it was legal to pick up roadkill deer people would be trying to hit deer with their vehicles. Really? Looks rather expensive and painful just to get a little meat. In this case very little.

That's how it is in Illinois also.
On that note......Do you know how to empty a tavern in Wisconsin? Walk in and announce........"Someone just hit a deer up the road, ya hey dere.."

All you do here is call the cops and they will let you have the deer. Keeps the State Roads people from having to pick it up.

Ohio issues permits on all road kills. I've done couple but no more just too much damage and to clean up the meat.
