I'm not a cat person, but all pets add something special to our lives.
"R.I.P. Pookie.
You were a cat.
You may not have been our cat.
Not at first.
Although it was not in the disclosures, you kinda came with the house. The old owners tried to take you with them about a mile down the road but you kept coming back....So, we fed you and gave you water and in return, you would give us dirty looks.
At some point, I think you started to appreciate the food and water and the fancy porch sectional (I never saw you there but I know because it is covered in your hair). You started coming up on the porch when we were outside, and after awhile, you let us pet you.
Then you started hunting us down and making us pet you.
You would scratch the window screen (only after we bought brand new ones) in front of our home office to let us know to get our $hit together and feed you.
You knew they were new...you saw them being installed...so that was the quickest and easiest way for you to get some of your way too expensive food.
I would never remember your food when I was somewhere reasonable like Target. So you got the unnecessarily expensive crap from Sprouts all the fancy indoor cats were eating. You would have eaten anything though. And you did...all kinds of weird crap. You’d leave blood on our porch sometimes we were never sure if it was yours or not.
Probably not.
Sometimes Mike would try to get you to come in the house...but it wasn’t your deal. One time when Mike finally had you in the house... he said “hmmmm……….she doesn’t smell very good”
I woke up from my hard to come by heavily pregnant sleep and replied “maybe she shouldn’t be in our bed then” and back outside you went, to live out the rest of your beloved outdoor cat days.
I always thought that I would never know when you passed, just that one day you would stop coming around and I could pretend that you finally decided to give in and go to your original owner’s new home.
But today we found you on our porch next to our hair covered sectional you secretly loved so much. Thank you for your hard earned love. Also, thank you for not passing away on the couch itself.
In the end, you were our cat and you were the best cat. You will be missed, Pook Pook. "

That said, I'll take a dog any day.
Cats use you.
Dogs love you no matter what.
EIGHTEEN???????
Holy crap!

My DIL is an amazing young lady.
She is smarter than a whip, yet almost brings me to tears with how loving, kind and gentle she is.
Given that, she's a Conservative by default.
With that, I have owned two exceptional cats. Dog like. Took command and acted just like dogs. Would follow me on walks through the woods, run to greet me when I came home, and were perfect companions. I'm working on a third now. Have had her for going on two years and she is a mice killing machine. Best micer of the three. There is a lot of fight in this cat too. I treat her like a dog and she acts like one a good bit of he time. While she is no dog, she has become another great companion and asset to our home
