Nationalism is the bridge to socialism/communism where the working of the market is hampered by government interference. Businesses are controlled/influenced, there are barriers to trade, controls on movement. Essentially how Germany started out under the National Socialist German Workers' Party.....
gflight thanks for your response. I have to disagree with you. You mentioned Germany. They were the socialist party from the get go. Trump reduces regulation on business and I believe is all for open, free market. I'm not talking crony capitalism. Real free market capitalism. Socialists want to control everything. That was Germany and, apparently, the US democrat party these days. I believe you are describing crony capitalism where a few select companies get special treatment (bailouts, 'too big to fail', etc). My definition of nationalism is when push comes to shove caring about your country's interests over another country's when the two clash.
