Dr. John Lott talks with Michael Dukes about the dangers of red flag laws and how there is a complete lack of proper due process before guns are taken away from citizens.
Maybe it just doesn't apply to those with emotional/behavioral issues....
"I'm all for due process... no one supports the 2A more than I do ... "
Yup.... right up to the point where you support Red Flag laws. You know, the part where LE can confiscate without a court order, provided one is obtained with two weeks. As long as it's only a temporary infringement on due process you're cool with it.
Has nothing to do with TDS or Trump hating, but more of following the USC. Just a thought..... I was made a manager of an engineering group, in large part, because I questioned things. Including decisions made by those above. I was promoted because I wasn't a rubber stamp, ass kissing, kneepad wearing yes man. Our country would be better served if we all did the same. I voted for Trump. I will again in 2020. But that doesn't mean I won't question his decisions. Not as long as two brain cells are firing.
I disagree. That will crush the economy and bring the government to it's knees. Without assets, ability to bank, and line of credit, why work? Without an income stream, there are no taxes being collected...
All I can say is, start saving recipes that use a LOT of ketchup.........
a lot of us already have all the bullets we need to fight. It would be wise to stock up if you don't.
Red flag laws don't do anything except make the authors of the bill and supporters happy. Just like a restraining order, basically useless until after the fact. Its illegal to kill another human being except under act of war, doesn't stop anyone. If a person is determined enough, sick enough unfortunately they will find a way.
All we can do is allow law abiding humans the right to be able to defend themselves with the necessary means because the reality is the police, military cannot.
So with the world's largest non-military militia(army) here in US there are going to be some bad players. Let's not make it easier for them by creating a list of owners and then confiscate their means of self-defense. Way too many examples in history how that went poorly.
By the way about 600K people were killed mostly by hand to hand combat and machete during the Rwanda tribal genocides between Hutu and Tootsie. You can buy a machete at any hardware, large retail store. Can also buy 2-3 lb LPG tank, which by the way were used as bombs in Columbine. Airplanes took down the twin towers, ammonium nitrate fertilizer and diesel fuel oil has also taken down its share of buildings. All are still readily in use and available. So the problem is not the tool its the people and overall lack of understanding regarding the sanctity of human life by SOME individuals.
Guns are not going to be disinvented but they may lose their popularity when higher grade weapons become commonplace (plasma, laser, noise, other energy disrupters). Just like the gun replaced the bow and we still use bows for hunting and the sport of archery. Rarely used in murders, BUT we just had one in my home state last year when a perp was fleeing police and it was found in the home he broke into. Police with gun vs man with bow, guess who won. Police state with our guns, we have more simple weapons, who wins???
It makes them happy at the expense of the law abiding citizen.
You Inherit your Grandpa's shotgun. You liberal brother doesn't like it and decides if he can't have it to shoot into the air, like ol' Joe recommended, he doesn't want you to have it either. Cops come and take all your firearms because he said you were talking derogatory about AOC and Muslims.
You have to take time off work, pay lawyer, spend your time, all in order to prove your innocence. Maybe you can get a Liberal judge to see your side of things.....
Don't dismiss this one too lightly.
""Instead they will just freeze your assets and do away with your line of credit." I disagree. That will crush the economy and bring the government to it's knees. "
It wouldn't be a blanket shutdown of the economy. It would be done to individuals. How long could you last if suddenly your bank accounts and credit/debit cards were all frozen? How could you seek help or justice if your Internet access is suddenly gone and phone not working?
How fast would the majority comply if this happened to a few more vocal individuals?
Some need to read that again. And again. And again. Till it sinks in. Presumption of innocence is the foundation of our justice system. Burden of proof is on the government. Burden of innocence is not our responsibility. Especially when ZERO crimes have been committed.
I agree
No one can predict how anything would go once it started. The original CW was supposed to be over quickly. We need to avoid another, IMHO.
Some of us more than others.
“The right of the people to be secure. . . against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause . . .”
Then maybe take on a leadership position in the new order after the anti-Constitutionalists lose.. How's that for a plan??
King George tried that once and look how it turned out for him. Do it to a few people and piss a lot more off...
As I've said before, what are people willing to give up to preserve a way of life?
Tonybear thinks he would be OK, but very few others would - and even the ones he thinks he could depend on would mostly fall in line rather than have the same thing happen to them.
