Now they get the Golden State Warriors.
Good luck with that, Portland!
Portland will be a great challenge, but that said, Golden State in 5 or 6.
Game One is in the books and it was a GS romp.
In the last 29 games where KD didn't play but Curry did, the Warriors are 28-1!!!!!!!!
Draymond Green's stat line says it all:
20 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists, 4 steals and a blocked shot. Curry scored 36 as well.
Kerr said Dray was a one man "wrecking ball" out there. He willed that comeback, the team saw the effort and they all kicked it up a notch. Lots of folks, including them sometimes, forget how many notches they have....
They praised the Trail Blazers, then wrote:
"No good comes from taking Damian Lillard lightly.
Unfortunately for Portland, no good comes from playing the Warriors at all."
They become the first team to get to the Finals five consecutive years since the 1966 Celtics.
Was pretty exciting as a fan, first KD goes down and all the talking heads say they have no chance now against Houston. Not only win that game..... but take game 6 on the road on Houston's court. YEAH! That'll teach ya! (the fan talking....)
Then no chance against Portland. They go down by 15, 18, 17 points in the last 3 games, only to come back and win each of those games, last one in OT. Would have been easy to quit, pack it in and try to beat them at home. Nope. One of the greatest things in sports (as a fan) is to watch your team that was down so far and make the comeback to tie it.... and then take the lead. And win it.
I think they as a team were getting bored with the whole thing (if that makes sense) when they had KD. This woke them up.
Now to watch the east beat each other up while GS heals up to some degree.....
Yet that's exactly what we're seeing from the Warriors.
KD goes down and the Warriors got better.
