Are there new security setting here or do I have the problem at my end? I have to enter my user number every time I visit. Is this the new normal?

Are you running a cache cleaner app/software either manually or on boot up? If so, you can go into some of those programs and add a 'safe list' of sites whose cookies not to wipe out.

"If the cookies are deleted then I won`t have the ability to login anymore ? " No, you'll just have to log in every time. The site will remember your username and password, but your computer will not remember your login preferences (one of the things stored in those cookies.) You may have also changed the 'accept cookies from...' settings in your browser preferences.
