Planning to hunt unit 74 this fall and all my scouting will have to be via Google Earth. One of the roads I'm planning to use is 579. I've zero experience with the roads in that unit and was curious if all I need is my 4WD pickup??

We camped up there last summer while out on vacation. You can drive a car up 578, at least until you get to the creek crossing. I didn't go up 579, so I can't speak to it specifically. If it's anything like the other roads in the area, I think you'll be ok.

Creek Crossing

Thanks, looks like that would be crossable with a truck. About 43 years ago I crossed a creek south of Lewiston, ID before daylight. Maybe 5" snow. When we came back the snow had melted and our crossing had us coming out about 25 yards downstream. Water over the gas pedal on the Landcruiser. Not fun.

It wasnt bad. That was 4th of July weekend so I dont think it would be any worse in Aug/Sept.
