Question for turkey call builders

I had a Norway maple took out last spring and the firewood sized pieces have been piled up since then.I've seen some worm holes and probly some spalting.should some be split up and let cure for future box call wood.son wants to get it for firewood this summer.never used Norway maple in a call before.,thanks,Dan
