Sorry to welcome you to the "A-Hole messed with or stole my cam" family. Sucks! Hopefully karma sends a giant past you this season, and you can be packing it out of the woods right past the jerk.
Ugh.

I don't put them on public land. Sad that it happens on private land also.

Several years ago when the local Radio shack was going out of business I bought a bunch of those small spiral car antennas and stuck them to the top of my cameras to create the appearence of a cell camera. I have a Lamenated card that sits on top of the camera that reads. " Your picture has been sent to my email address. In exchange for not stealing or destroying this camera I will not prosecute." I have not had any issues since. My cameras are on land I own out of state and not public. Thought I would share something that has worked for me.

Had people on our lease trespassing, stealing cards out of cameras, batteries, entire cameras. Purchased a Snyper Hunting cellular camera. Set it out on a Sunday night. First picture I received on my cell was of a trespasser walking by the camera. Sent the pic to the CO, called a buddy. # hours later received a second pic - of the trespasser in handcuffs being escorted off the property by the CO. Pic was used to charge and fine the trespasser.

I bought a bunch of signs for my rancher friend which say something like "Property monitored by wireless cellular cameras", with a photo of a wireless cam. The trespassing totally stopped after that. The only cameras actually on the ranch are my two regular game cameras.

I've had the best luck hanging them 10-12' up. Lone wolf steps work great for this. I've had them stollen on public and private when I get lazy and put them low without a lock.

Anybody know if the guardian cam peeps do any bowsite specials? About to put a couple cams up on state ground, really like the look of their product. Do they still frequent bowsite at all?

I prefer putting a old broken cam out in the open with a piece of plywood with nails in front of it. Place the real cam further away, hidden. The pics are priceless.
