He spoke about his love of hunting and his Kuiu guitar a bit on the Joe Rogan podcast. He's been a fan of Kuiu for a long time, very cool ambassador for hunting.
I would not consider this a tribute necessarily, unless he did something additionally to honor Jason. He's had that Vias guitar for several years. I saw him play it in Minneapolis in 2016 at their show at US Bank Stadium. Me being a Kuiu fan boy I noticed it immediately. Can't wait to see them tonight in Sioux Falls. Hopefully I can get a little Of Wolf and Man!
James booked an elk hunt with just the average public land outfitter many moons ago. A friend was in camp and said you’d never believe who showed up to hunt elk. I didn’t know he hunted at the time. He didn’t exactly get out of bed at the crack of dawn though. Lol I’m glad to see he didn’t just shell out the money for an easy hunt. Lord knows he has it.
I know hetfield hates mountain bikers...maybe a strong word, but I guess there was a trail that either ran through or close to his property in CA that he made efforts to get blocked. That was many years ago, I may have my facts wrong a bit.
Anyway, cool guitar, and I am never been a Metallica fan(although they are growing on me as they/I age), but as others have stated has been around for a few years.
Have fun Brotsky. Been in that arena more times than I can count.
Same here Spike. Saw Metallica back in the 90's and One was by far the best live performance I had ever seen. Due to personal bias, that is no longer the case after seeing the reunited Guns n Roses a couple years ago.
I had no idea Hetfield was a hunter either and that's a pretty cool guitar.
I like Metallica better than Megadeth, but both are good. There is no denying how impressive it was for Mustaine to create what he did after getting kicked out of Metallica, essentially all by himself.
So refreshing to see an articulate respect full rocker speak about hunting in language devoid of riddles and nonsensical phrases. It’s almost like he understands the benefit of not offending people and trying to inform them a bit instead
I guess they’re not all like the most famous musical hunter
Mustaine is an interesting cat. Hard to believe he was voted out for drinking too much. I believe he was just too much like Hetfield for long term chemistry and they all knew it intuitively. Worked out for the best.
I like Hetfields story of his football coach telling him he had to cut his long hair. So he quit and started playing music. I’m guessing with his 300 million net worth he may have made the right decision.
IMO, Hardwired... is their best album since the Black album (no haters!). Here Comes Revenge is one of my favorite cuts. And the video pulls heavily from hunting imagery. :)
Bou - that, is a fantastic point! In that Rogan clip from Zim, I'm assuming that's what you are talking about... I couldnt agree more with him (Hetfield).
