I typically only carry my suspension relief strap with me when I am using my climber. I actually have two different harnesses. One with a small bag attached that hold my suspension relief strap that I use with my climber. One without that I use when hunting a hang on stand. I don't see the need for it if I am in a hang on stand with steps. If my stand fails I will step onto a step, if a step fails I will step onto another step or climb onto the stand. Do you think that is safe or am I missing something.

If you have a top shelf stand, climbing sticks (never use 4 ‘ section sticks), harness and lifeline I don’t see the need.
