Yep that something you should figure out before marriage. But I am betting hunting/pheasant shoot once a year is not high on his life passions. He probably misses it about as much as me missing one of the early college bowl games between teams like Southeastern Maine University and Northern Idaho State. I'd watch if nothing better to do but not going to loss any sleep over not seeing it.
I’d be willing to bet plenty of members have already made this choice, maybe not with a unit as juicy as the princess, but let’s face it, lots of guys have chosen the RIGHT woman based at least in some regard on her tolerance for hunting.
Never would have been a first thought! She wouldn't have to like what I do but she wouldn't get a chance to interfere with it either. Nice face though! plenty more of them out there as pretty or prettier willing to be a queen and hunt right beside you!
Unfortunately Meghan's views are becoming the norm among young women and men, hunting just is not the "right thing" to many in our liberal and urban society. I do not like it, but see no way to change the course we are on. All we can do is try and slow the inevitable.
There are so many nice, happy, we’ll adjusted, great looking women out there that are cool with hunting. He should’ve definitely worked this out earlier.
No,big deal, in a couple years if not sooner Harry will have a mistress and she will be gone. Otherwise, shame on her and Harry for changing a tradition over a bird that was meant to be shot and eaten.
I’d say dump her immediately, but she’s pregnant and makes that difficult. I wonder if the Little Princess knows what a chicken goes through before it reaches her plate.
Never would have ever gotten into a situation like that, because I would have known her view on hunting long before then would have dropped her and found someone else.
I dont know. Are we talking skipping one hunt, one time? Or just not shooting driven pheasants? I could prolly swing that. She's hot. But that's it. Giving up all hunting forever, no.
Obviously pheasant hunting isnt all that important to Harry. To each their own.
Maybe he'd rather hang out with his hot young wife than a bunch of stodgy old English farts with teeth like Austin Powers.
I'm single, but everyone I know in successful marriages or relationships is making compromises at some point.
And the tougher guys talk, the more p@#$y whipped they are. Usually.
This would have been well worked out prior to a marriage. And if she eats meat, well.... I am reminded of a saying: No matter how hot she is, some guy, somewhere, is tired of putting up with her crap.
When a buddy and I were in college we would see a good looking girl and say she looks good, but I bet she wouldn't hold the legs. Meaning that she wouldn't help hold the legs while we were gutting a deer, and that she was too high maintenance. We both married women that are good looking and will hold the legs so it worked out.
I always say it's easier to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission so I'd go hunt and like TD said, she'd be there when I got back. I'd fix the pheasants for supper and tell her it's chicken.
My step mother asked my wife once "Doessn't it bother you when Ron goes hunting all the time?" To that my wife told her that "Ron was hunting when I met him, it is what he enjoy's and I would never try to change that, nor could I if I wanted to"
No,big deal, in a couple years if not sooner Harry will have a mistress and she will be gone. Otherwise, shame on her and Harry for changing a tradition over a bird that was meant to be shot and eaten.
When I first started dating my wife I took her to meet my parents. She says to my dad, "Andy sure like to hunt." Dad's reply, "Honey, some things in life take priority". I sure miss Dad... such a wise man.
As for Meghan... well I can't believe Harry married such trash. Just look at the rest of her family.
Better question may be would you ask your wife to give up a family tradition like that. I'm guessing it's no big deal to him but it is a sad indicator of how society is changing. Far from the worst or most obvious indicator.
I’m the same as Rock,it would have never have got that far,not past the first date.Theres many more just like her totally uneducated as to the benefits of hunting worldwide. if they ever did some research on hunting and saw the benefits that groups like Rocky Mountain Elk and DU they would see all the benefits from habitat restoration, local employment etc. etc. They can’t be bothered.Peta and green piece total idiot attitudes.I don’t waist my time anymore.
Nope, better choose wisely. Here's mine, illustrating her thoughts on bird hunting back in May ;-)IMO she's far more "passionate about wildlife" than Meghan could ever be.
I wouldn't be able to hear her over the sound of the vacuum or washing machine so I'm not sure why it would matter? Hopefully she has my sandwiches ready for when I leave to go hunting.
If you guys don't hear from me for awhile it probably means Mrs Brotsky has seen this thread. Ha!
I would make her go along and watch and then cook her my best pheasant dish. How can she be opposed to something she knows nothing about. Telling her that she has to watch is no different from her telling you you have to give it up. What's the old saying. "No matter how hot she is, there will always be a guy who is tired of her shit".
To steal a Brad Paisley lyric...I'm gonna miss her!
He shouldn't of married her in the first place...she and whole damn family sound like a bunch of basket cases!!! Anyway, the whole "royal family" thing is a farce anyway, so who cares..
"Harry allegedly skipped last years hunt as well because of Markle"
"Shes a keen animal lover and likes to eat vegan during the week and she has a no-fur policy. She has also been encouraging Harry to eat less meat and more fruit and veg and is now keen to fully convert him to her views on hunting."
"I never would have married her in the first place knowing she's an animal rights nut job ... if she came out with this after a wedding, it would be if you dont like it, there's the door ..." THIS!
The other thing that bugs the crap out of me is the fact that she's a liberal American forcing her anti-hunting views on a foreign country. (sound familiar???) Let alone, one that she married into!!!!
You know I used to say I wouldn’t do that for anyone but I met someone recently who I would have done that for. She didn’t ask that but if she would have I would..she dumped me lol I might have lucked out in that one.
With us having opposing attitudes on hunting our relationship never would have gotten to the point of her even trying to tell me to stop. This is a no brainer, no question about it. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do,...HUNT!
She’s misguided. You can’t be passionate about wildlife and not support hunting. We know this, but it’s too bad we can’t get more people to understand the real facts.
Somebody should start a rumor that Trump paid her money to keep their affair quiet. But Meggy got paid half a million 'cause he didn't want to be accused of dating 4th rate wannabe stars.
She's clueless, classless and self centered enough to create trouble in Royal Land. Then she'll be dumped and doomed to petty talk shows and carnival like speaking tours.
I wouldn't have married her even if she liked hunting......I don't think she's all that and a bag of Fritos....the other princess is far more attractive and elegant, IMO. Besides, Markle's old man is a tool. She's got to go!
"...as a sign of respect to his new bride Meghan Markle."
That says more about him, than her. Respect goes both ways. A 20 year old respectable tradition vs a misguided, hypocritical (she enjoys eating meat and fish), passion. Not even close.
This is a good thing for the people to know and that he is not in direct line to be king , because if he can not stand up to her I would not want him as king .
Hunting, or not - if you're a freaking prince of England and that's the best you can do, then you have bigger (or smaller) problems! I'm one missing tooth from being a hillbilly and I've done way better - without a claim to royalty!
I lost a little respect for Harry when he married this very average American from a dysfunctional family - what little respect I had left for him is now gone.
That Harry is a real puss. I find that a really shit character of a male. Not sure I'd call such a puss a man. If it gets even close to the point of these kinds of blackmail and threats you are doing it way the hell wrong.
Had friends that molded their personality to suit women they pursue. Operative word being had because they end up being p.o.s. in other ways. It's a con man thing. Usually liars and cheaters. Never ends well.
Not that the ginger prince really was a hunter hes a tea and crumpet royal that shot tame pheasants once a year. What Merica aspires hunting to be if we keep trying to make it a rich mans game.
My best friend is married to a mostly vegetarian and they get along fine. Great gal, I'd go to battle for, just has a different personal ethos than me. She does respect that he kills the meat himself and I've heard she even eats venison from time to time because its organic and wild.
There is a difference between eating nuts and being nuts.
Pfff we woulda NEVER got married! If I ever get married, she will respect hunters and my passion for hunting. She will help clean game and help cook it as well. I'm holding out for one of these types. And dont be bitchin when I'm gone for most of Sept and November! Did I mention I'm single! Oh it's so much easier. Feel bad for you guys that have wife problems
The last woman I dated prior to getting married didnt like hunting. Hence I married a woman who has a better world view - she likes to shoot animals :)
Was engaged to a great girl. I and my family were pretty successful hunting. One day during rifle season her parents show up at our hunting area. I go over to see her ask what the deal is? She says, in essence, its just deer hunting whats the big deal. I asked for my ring back. Harry was never into hunting if this was what it took to change him.
To be yourself is all that you can do. If he's willing to forego something as important to himself and his past as this, I pity him. Tell her you love her and you'll be back after the hunt, but hunt you must.
I can only conclude from this that Harry isn't really into hunting. If it really were a part of his life, ANY woman that he had a serious long term relationship.....and even not long term....with would known that straight out. My guess is that 99.9% of the people on Bowsite who have a relationship with ANYONE make it plain as all get out that they are not only hunters, but BOW hunters. And anyone who knows any of us is also obviously aware of that fact, as it's all we talk about!
I'm a horseman, and have been one my whole life. Most of the girls I dated as well as the one I've been married to for the past 42 years are/were horse people. In many cases we didn't even have to talk about it, you could SENSE it! Hunting is much the same way. It's like......this is me. This is who I am and what I live for. WHY would you expect, OR want, me to change that???? You don't buy a pickup truck and then expect it to be like a Ferrari......unless it really wasn't a pickup truck in the first place.
Meghan Markle is good looking, but not above and beyond what can be found in limited quantity in most any small town in America. That is to say, there are a lot of "Meghan Markle's". Of course, if it is that mocha skin you are after, your search will be more difficult. However, that is probably the most appealing photo I have seen of her, albeit I've never gone on the web and looked.
It seems like a no-brainer to me that she is in it for the fame and money. Having a really hot (superficial) woman usually means your attention better be on her and not much else. Think about it, almost all of them have had any amount of attention they wanted throughout their lives. Now, there are needles in every hay stack of course. I never had any intention of putting on a fake personality to land a woman, but many do.
Good luck with this difficult decision you are facing Pat. ;^)
If I were married to her, I would ask her the same thing my brother asked Robin (now my wife) the first time they met; "Have you had your eye sight checked recently?".
My wife hates my football team, and is pretty much totally sick of all the hunting I do, for the past 14 years this has been the case, mainly because it comes during the holidays. Still wearing the rings though, still rooting for the team, still hunting right up til the end of season... I guess that could change though. It seems to be getting to her lately. I might have to find a place...
I love the guys that thought she was a nobody before she met him lol. There's a reason they crossed paths. She was prob more famous to the avg American than he was. That being said, not worth it.
She wasn't a nobody? Seriously, I had never heard of her before, and I'm guessing I never would have if the media didn't make such a big deal about her marrying a "royal".
"Once upon a time a prince asked a beautiful princess “Will you marry me?” The princess said no. And the prince lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and banged cute skinny girls and hunted and raced cars and went to naked bars and dated women half his age and drank beer, Jack Daniel´s and Captain Morgan and drank the milk from the carton and never heard bitching and went to rock concerts and kept his apartment and his favorite jeans and never got cheated on while working and his family and his friends thought he was cool as hell and he had tons of money & left the toilet seat up. THE END."
I shared this thread last night with my hunting buddies at a Christmas party. It was a hit. It provided the "jolly" for the party. Thanks for the laughs !!
I know several city guys that hunt just to get away from the city. They realy just do it to hang out and could care less. He's got to be one of those guys.
If had married her I would respect her wishes. If her wishes were in conflict with my core beliefs I would not have married her. Making the marriage commitment takes the leisure time activity out of play unless the couple can't come to a mutually agreeable accommodation. in the grand scheme of things this would be a gnat's eyelash in terms of true relevance to their lives.
I would break a commitment made before God over a hobby.
Compare Harry to his aunt Princess Anne. Imagine if someone asked Princess Anne to give up horses and see how far they'd get! She was an Olympic competitor in Equestrian 3 Day Eventing (the "Iron Man" competition for horses) and dumped her first husband for her GROOM!!!
Haha funny thread. But all tough talk aside I bet if some of you “country boys” ever got a whif of that in real life you would be turned into a Metrosexual quicker than she could say, “not only are you not going hunting but your painting my toenails!”
"Haha funny thread. But all tough talk aside I bet if some of you “country boys” ever got a whif of that in real life you would be turned into a Metrosexual quicker than she could say, “not only are you not going hunting but your painting my toenails!”
Yeah.....and there's some "sports cars" that once you got the motor running were mediocre performers and the less flashy ones were the ones that could run and run and run.....
Harry does not have a history of hunting animals. people yes. Besides if most of you were married to a non hunter they might kick you out of the trailer park.
Petedrummond x 2. I'm betting that Prince Harry hunts a grand total of one time a year....so he isn't giving up anything that is really important to him.
Eric V-no worries. Like ice cream flavors, everyone doesn’t have the same taste. (And I think she would taste like cheap whiskey and stale cigarettes !)
Wow I guess some of you are wrong it seems not only does he hunt fairly regularly but he also fights poachers in Africa. He just jumped up a notch in my book. See link.
So you think she'd be good with pheasant hunting tomorrow? It's just that one day she's against it.....
You aren't married are you......
Spike, It would seem he USED to hunt fairly regularly...... the PC police have caught up to him..... and it appears they continue to stalk him. Liberals it seems wake each morning in search of justifying their outrage.....
TD, I just read he quit smoking, drinking, pheasant hunts, and she’s trying to turn him vegan. His friends haven’t seen him much either. Boy is his life over!
wikipedia says she was married once prior to Harry contrary to claims here he is her third husband. Seems to be quite the thing that she is of mixed race. Like who here isn't?
yooper- Cheap whiskey is good enough for my friends! But not for my future dreamboat! APauls- I know nothing of her backstory because celebrity "news" turns me off. (Same as "royal" news) For me personally, my 10 sec judgmental opinion is she is not for me.
It says she wants you to quit hunting, not just skip one pheasant hunt. I would go hunting then have a big fight and make up sex. Or she is gone. I would rather be single than have a woman try to control me. Trust me, I was single for decades after the first wife. My current wife and I were together for 10 years before we got married.
Well, that's what you get when British royalty hooks up with run of the mill dysfunctional American trash. I don't give a flip what he does or doesn't do, but "hunting" obviously isn't that important to him.
Pat in for the win as usual. He's always gotta dangle a carrot or two during slow times... just like one of his other fake registrations bringing up Rowdy.
I think we all need to be honest here, if we had Meghan Markle at home we wouldn't hunt anything that wasn't in the bedroom. At least not for the first 12-18 months.....
This is a man who served in his nations military with distinction, styarted the Invictus games to honor disabled soldiers, and defied royal family convention to marry a mixed-race commoner. I don't think he has to prove **** to anyone here.
That boy is gonna be henpecked the rest of his life. I totally agree, it starting with hunting that moves into other parts of your life as well. Soon he will be miserable as well.
She "CARES" for animals but probably is clueless about the conservation effort of many if not all hunters. Wake her up to the fact most animal rights groups are radical enough to be properly labeled domestic terrorist organizations, a threat to the crown. If she doesn't get it say g bye ASAP.
To put it not nicely .....I'd have a roll in The hay with her and send her on her way. No way if ever married her. One thing if she feels that way ....but a whole different ball game if she is Ducati g to him what he can and can not do/like........seeya!
Read an Article yesterday that he did in fact go pheasant hunting, so there you have it. Now if he gets her to eat it she'll be looking forward to next years hunt, worked for my wife
No I'm not from NY and no I don't shoot a crossbow. I don't care for skinny women irregardless of hair color (curtain or carpet). I don't like really big women either. I've never liked blondes or women with black hair. Plus size (up to a point) with brown or red hair. Somebody like Nadine Jansen.
Too bad as the writing was on the wall before he jumped in. It will get no better until one of them leaves. My son and I had a good long term customer who had to sell all his guns before he could get married to this woman. We told him to find another woman as it won't get any better. We got some really got deals and never seen him again. He probably is very miserable of got rid of her already. No way to change the spots on a leopard.
Yup, wondered the same thing at Matt...would like to see pictures and specs on Kate's shotgun! (I upland hunt with a SxS most of the time, and would expect she has one?).
As a side note, we named our 14 month old Vizsla "Princess Kate"....Kati for short. She is turning into a great bird dog, and is sweet and cute too.
