We make New Year's Eve an evening to have some food that we wouldn't otherwise have, either due to cost, health, or whatever. Tonight: bacon-wrapped smoked scallops, Giardelli double-chocolate brownies, ... I think bourbon goes well with brownies.

I've got two home-brews ready for tonight. An american porter and a brown nut ale. My buddy will be bringing his two new brews. A kolsch and a heffenwiesen(sp?). The girls will be drinking a selection of homemade wines; pear, blueberry and peach. My son cleaned out the hard stuff on his way out; Captain Morgan and tequila.(yes, he's over 21)

I can't believe you guys ruin good whiskey with Coke......blasphemy, not to mention disgusting. Quit acting like little girls and just drink it on the rocks or with a little water, unless of course you're talking bottom shelf whiskey then a little soda helps.

Blantons doesn't need anything but a glass! and in a crises, the glass is optional! BTW, my next door neighbors are true Blanton,'s and that is the first place I ever had it. No B.S. I don't like Bourbon in general, but DAMN, Blantons is good!

There is a fine Vodka made in the high peaks of the Adirondack Mountains call 46 Peaks. It is a bit rich for my blood but a good friend buys me a bottle every year for my B-day which is Dec. 20th so I save it and savor a couple 4 oz pours straight from the freezer on New Years Eve. Shawn

I like the kind with the alcohol in it. That said, I didn't even realize it was New Year's Eve till this thread came up. I don't travel or take too much notice of holidays. They're all holidays to me :)
Drinking a Prophesy Pinot right now. Delicious. Just got off a 5 mile hike with my daughter and I have a longer solo hike planned for tomorrow so there's no way I'll see the New Year come in. Priorities.

Had a couple vodkas and water with the "neighbor lady"! Wanted me to go to the neighborhood party with her but said I was going to Fletch arrows or something. When she left I had another drink and headed down the road to a neighborhood bar for the best filet mignon I ever had! And more vodka. The waitresses dote over an old single guy like me! My daughter's think my loner lifestyle dumb and all telling me so tonight. Love keeping them off balance. A good tactic for Elk hunting too that I don't think Elk Nut 1 knows about!

Family has been fighting cold for a week. I have a worthless immune system but been drinking a couple gin and tonics every night and been staying ok till yesterday. Ran out; started coming down with dreaded symptoms. Braved icy roads to restock tonight and by golly I think I’m coming out of it. Supposed to run a 10k tomorrow. We’ll see.

Scoot - Last night it was Abrasive and a Furious. Agreed on Todd, that's one of the best IPAs out there. Out in CO we only get Furious, Todd and Coffee Bender. Todd is $18 for a 4 pack out here, ouch.
Every time I head east through NE I stock up on their other varieties and spend like $200! Surly is one of my favorite breweries.

Saranac Amber draught, in bed by 2230, woke up by neighbors fireworks at 0020 (too drunk to get it right must be), and it freaked out the dog. NYE way overrated.
