Just sharing. 315 bowhunters participated. 203 killed Deer. 132 were Bucks. 21 scored 150 thru 188 & overall score for the 132 was 123". Not sure but hunters are probably from all states that have Whitetail & a season. These are Archery only. Some added information of interest. Iowa not only lead the pack with 16 buck entries, the Hawkeye State registered 6 of the top 21 buck entered. The Buckeye State was a close second with OH registering 15 buck in the contest and yet only one in the top 21. Kansas rounded out the top 3 with 13 entries, BUT they trailed Iowa by only one buck registering 5 of the top 21. The top three states IA, OH, KS, produced roughly 41% of the total buck entered, yet 57% of the top entries (buck over 150”). state of PA a shout-out for placing 4th overall with buck entries at 8, but leading the pack with antlerless entries and one in the top 21.

In taking a closer look at both the calendar and the clock it should be noted that 73 of the 132 buck (55%) entered were killed between 3:00 – 8:00PM, with 51 of those occurring between 5:00-8:00PM. An additional 39 were killed between the hours of 7:00-9:00AM.

The week of 11/5–11/11 produced 27 buck while the week of 10/29–11/4 produced 21. The best single day was Saturday 11/3/18 when contestants killed 8 buck. Sunday, November 11 and Saturday, October 27 were both tied for second with contestants killing 7 buck on each of those days and 11/8/18 rounded out the top three with 6 buck being killed on that Thursday. Six of the top 21 were killed during the week of 11/5 – 11/11.

Only piece of missing data was how many "hunter days" each day in the fall was hunted. ie) Were the popular killing days popular because the hunting was better at that time, or were there more deer killed those days because there was more people hunting those days?

Best days were mostly on weekends more people were off probably or so it seems Lewis

The days are meaningless without knowing how many hunters hunted vs how many deer were killeD.

Ahunter76, Is this 2018 P&Y entry data that you are referring to as a “deer contest” or is this actually some kind of national deer contest that had 315 bowhunting entries?

If a national contest and not P&Y, what was name of the contest? Do you happen to have any data on weapon type used for these 315 entries (traditional, compound, crossbow)?

It was a Deer contest this past hunting season (not P&Y related). No data on Compound or trad but all hand held bows. Archers were from all across the U.S.. I saw the results & just figured I would share. It's just "some" information to share.

Again...what is the name of this contest? Do they have a website to look at pics and info. Living in KS myself, I might like to enter this mystery contest.
