Curious if anyone has good experiences bowhunting starting early? Specifically August 15 for a week. As a teacher my time in fall is limited to weekends but this year I have off until later in August. Im just starting to consider my options. I am open to suggestions. Thanks for your time.

Mark

Pronghorn, hands down. You can hunt DIY pronghorn on public land for less than airfare to AK.

I have hunted Ne antelope in August. I actually prefer it to later in the season. Far less people running around. especially when season opens on a week day.

Utah mule deer can be fun in August as well.

Way back in the early 80s you could hunt elk, mule deer and black tail in mid to late August in Oregon. Not sure if they still open that early. I’m hunting pronghorn in SD this August, I believe the 20gh.

If you've only tree stand hunted whitetails before, I strongly suggest trying spot'n stalk mule deer hunting. Seasons start mid-August. It is so much fun and a great challenge.

Utah elk and mule deer archery starts the third Sat of Aug every year. The archery elk tag is the only OTC tag left in Utah and allows you to hunt elk here for up to 4 months until Dec 15th and even later on some extended units. On most Limited Entry units you can hunt spikes and cows for the first three weeks of the hunt. Best value tag in the country for elk. Cheers, Pete

Cow/spike units in UT are your best bet.

Tyler ran a thread on his water buffalo hunts, search that up. What a cool deal. That would be amazing.
