Introducing Timber Wolves - in CT ??

Good luck Pat! I feel for you!
What are they gonna eat? Soccer moms? Based on the CT live hunts there aren't any deer to eat?
Your link does not go to anything about wolves?
WTF it’s not even April 1st!
Pretty ridiculous but how exactly is one forced to live in a certain state?
slipshot, did you read the entire article?
...
"Rep. Ed Vargas, D-Hartford, also voted against the bill because he said the only way to restore the ecological balance to the state of Connecticut is to reintroduce timber wolves.
“It may create other problems down the road,” Vargas said. “But I rather deal with those problems than see bears shot.”
He said it was a mistake to eradicate the wolves."
Lots of dems and wolf talk hmm sounds like MN :( Good luck with all that CT
"...but how exactly is one forced to live in a certain state?"
My question exactly!
All I can say is that you are not alone Pat. I know the feeling. The modern Conservation Model is under attack throughout the country and it is being driven by a Disney mentality that embraces JUNK SCIENCE. Junk science is the cancer of Modern Scientific Conservation.
Wolves... really. There is a reason that wolves were erradicated from populated areas. WTF... best of luck. I guess the days of professional wildlife management are gone.
Yeah, wait until the wolves start running off with your kids. Oh,I guess you deal with that problem down the road. I agree, there was a reason the wolves were eradicadicated to start with.
Wasn’t that long ago that wolves were on the short list to be eradicated. What the hell has happened? How have we been overtaken by a bunch of morons? Thank God we can shoot the SOB’s 24/7/365 in 98% of our state!
HSUS is pushing the wolf agenda here in Colorado also.
So one state representative mentions wolf reintroduction (in the midst of a generally pro-bear hunting/nuisance wildlife proposal) and this comment is blown way out of proportion. I'd say move from Connecticut.
I'm with the above.....How are you forced to live there?
Pat, just remind that rep that a timber wolf was shot in Gill MA, what, 30 miles, maybe 35 miles north of the CT line. That was maybe 10 years ago though... So scratch that, just remind them that coyotes here in the north east have a lot of timber wolf in them, so that will just have to do.
"“Without trying non-lethal diversion first … I think we have no business authorizing shooting of the bear, coyote or whatever else is attacking the crops,“ Mushinsky said."
Someone should really teach those coyotes to stop eating all the corn and wheat!
your not forced to live in that state,,,, you know it,,, so quit crying,,,,, your well above the curve of most hunters, so quit whining
Predators is the left`s answer to killing hunting. Who needs hunters to control herds when a predator will do it more efficiently.
We are being attacked from all sides....we have to convince those soccer moms and golf dads to see our side of things.....pfffffffft.
First, she makes you plant sweet corn in your food plots, now you’ve been grounded in Connecticut. You need to put you foot down, Pat! ;-)
call them assault wolves and they will ban them.
They even have a good location to reintroduce them - Wolf Den. That's where Israel Putnam reputedly killed the last wolf in Connecticut in 1742. It's about time they brought them back. Should be a lot of easy to catch food for them now; mostly liberals, I'm guessing. What are you complaining about Pat?
I'm for it! east coasters have been funding the push to reintroduce stuff out west for years, time for y'all to feel the pain...LOL
If he were to unplug Bowsite and move to and plug Bowsite in another state it would never function the same.
Leave Pat alone.
I've found 4 dead deer within a half mile of each other and a brazen coyote that would be dead if I'd had a weapon that day. This big boy has been around here for years and this is not the first encounter I've had with him. We have a pack of those dogs right behind the house every week at some point. My 95# golden is cautious just when going out the back to take a whizz - he knows they are around and that he can't whip them all. What's gonna happen when a bunch of ravenous wolves intro'd by the likes of AOC-types start roaming across state lines and into VT, Mass, NY, who knows where? Maine... whatya gonna do then? I'll tell you what...there is one solution: lead is going to fly, shovels will be employed, and mouths zipped shut, at least by the guys I know. These Demn fools in these puny lame states back here are not stupid, they are well heeled - they are just acting foolish and against common sense to pass their reckless radical agenda. There is only one reason - to force us to lose our way of life. So you gotta fight, hard and organized, or its all gonna be gone within our lifetime. All I can say is I'm glad I'm old, and lived the best years in the last and present century, because it is all going away unless there is some serious Right wing counter attack. Pat, your situation is EXACTLY the kind of thing that prevents many from the opportunity to resist rad left takeover, or adapt by relocation. I am in similar circumstances. Here by family obligation, not so much by choice. But we ARE moving 'eventually', once we size up where the least chance of a Dem. takeover is going to happen. I feel for ya.
They'll LOVE those pretty lush foodplots of yours! But don't worry, they only eat 21 deer/year.....................................................................................................EACH!!
S. S. S = shoot , shovel, shutup. Maryland/W. VA unwritten law
Every state has their issues, some better than others.
I agree with Pat. Anyone who would uproot (or leave) their family against their will just to improve their hunting opportunities is pretty selfish. A lot easier said than done...
Don't sweat it Pat. Anyone with a family understands your situation. Using that logic a person shouldn't complain about the federal government. You're free to move to another country. If you pay taxes and vote, it's your right to complain.
Another reason I'm glad we already have wolves. No one can add them here lol. And for all the places down south that want to add wolves my guess is they'll come take them from Canada. :)
You guys need to ease up on Pat moving. He's been using the Bowsite search engine for years trying to find the right spot! :-)
They will only eat old sick elk so since there are no elk there you have nothing to worry about.
Pat I hear you as soon as my mom is gone I’m out of this liberal hell hole as well. Good thing my wife is from another state so she is on the same page as I am.
Spike78, you are so totally moving to North Hampton, Amherst, Wellsely, Weston, Sudbury, Concord, Cambridge, Lexington or some such area... You know you have no desire to leave MA... :)
(NOTE: I'm laughing so hard at that statement that I can hardly see through the tears!)
“It may create other problems down the road,” Vargas said. “But I rather deal with those problems than see bears shot.”
Yup. A few small children ripped apart in front of frantic parents would be WAY more popular with voters than knowing that a renewable resource is being managed through revenue-generating recreation for honest people.
I’m in the same boat as Pat. Here for a while yet with an elderly MIL and younger son with 5 more years in the public schools. Best damn teacher of the hearing impaired around is in our town, which is why I live 1/2 mile from longbeard’s rink instead of 1/4 from the nearest tree stand!
Same boat as Pat. And now we have g'kids that we won't leave. Unfortunately, too many conservatives are leaving CT, leaving a higher percentage of liberals to pass BS laws. If we could get about 50k blood red Texans to move here, the tides would change.
My days are numbered once the tolls are up I'm out
I wouldn’t waste a lot of time worrying about it Pat and others from CT. Hunan nature says that people like the ideas of funny’s better then actually liking the things the ideas are about. It’s fairy tale talk. No one from the east wants the reality of wolves among their lives. It’s cool if it’s out west. But, not in their back yard.
"...as soon as my mom is gone I’m out of this liberal hell hole as well.".. I hear you guys and I want to do the same, but the one thing the liberal hell holes need is more conservatives, not fewer. Right leaners leaving them will ensure that these states will always remain blue. Ideally, we need to populate the blue states with more reds, as tough as that sounds, not perpetuate the problems by abandoning them. Easier said than done obviously. Major dilemma...
WV- the city liberals will vote for wolves in "upstate" CT. Look at NJ....................they put pressure on the politicians to ban bear hunting. Meanwhile it's rural NJ that suffered with all the bear problems for years while the hunt was banned. THe city liberals don't care, because they don't have to LIVE there! Same thing would happen with wolves!
Let the city libs live with the rats and two legged wolves. Rats probably outnumber libs in Newark. Maybe...
I completely understand your situation Pat. However, I will say that at some point preventing the loss of freedoms and duty to family will be intertwined. Giving up our freedoms means losing them (and more) for future generations. This isn't really about hunting, as Pat well knows. Pat can hunt anywhere he wants for the most part.
A sate can't just vote to introduce wolves and move a few in on Saturday afternoon. You're getting twisted up over nothing, same for Colorado.
spike78's Link
No Wapiti but our state AG can say assault weapons are banned and poof they are.
Strange little hobby these leftists/socialist/communists have..... that world domination thing....
It riles them to believe that you perceive the web they weave And keep on thinking free.
Fight the good fight Pat.
Good luck getting people from red states to move to blue states. If you did get any of the conservatives to move to a blue state it wouldn't be enough to help. Personally I wouldn't move to the northeast part of the country, or to California, If they gave me a house for free to live in.
Unless the CT government won't allow you to leave the state, it's a choice.
I'm originally from FL but live in northern MI. We snowbird down here every year to see family. One thing I have noticed since I've spent more time back in FL after being absent for 30 years is the number of "northeast foreigners" who have moved down to FL and bring their politics with them. They get on the local boards and poof.....things change for the worse....higher taxes, fees, costs, etc. FL used to be a cheap place to live and a solid red state but now it's iffy. I guess it's comparable to what Californicators have done with some western states by moving there.
before long all the states will be purple anyway
Sometimes choices are frying pans and fires...... =D
And sometimes there's a Kobayashi Maru......
LOL... Bou.... is that black cloud tattooed on your forehead? Eeore was your favorite character?
Pat ain't going nowhere anytime soon..with a proposed toll gantry every 6 miles it'll take him 17.9 years just to make it to N.Y....lol..we're screwed!!!
Pat- sit back and dream of those giant Whitetails in Kansas and it won’t seem as bad. MN sucks too. I leave for hunting end of October and return at Thanksgiving. Only way to keep ones sanity. You may not be quite old enough for that (retirement) yet but it will come.
I feel your pain Pat. MA politics are just as bad, possibly worse. We're lousy with liberals up here. But similar to you, with work and grandkids here this is it, for awhile at least. I look at it this way, we have a responsiblity to be the voice of reason. When it's dark, light a candle. Hang in there Pat (and hunt out of state every chance you get).
Have some around the old homestead that can be transplanted to you. Over the last 5 years we are coming into more close contact (10-15 yrds) with them when in the field, they are not small and will need a few deer to feed on, how many do you want.
Come to Colorado Pat! We need more non-idiots to move here!
