Strap in and here we go! The Bowsite “Meet & Greet” gathering will be Friday from 3-5 pm in the Conference Center “Atrium”. There will be a 18” x 24” sign leading to the Function.
Many of you have asked to donate something to the event so Pat has decided to do a collection again at the event and we’ll donate 100% of the proceeds to the P&Y Conservation Fund. Last conference (St.Louis) you Bowsiters donated $880 dollars to the Conservation Fund. Let’s see if we can hit $1,000+. We’ll have a collection jar and would recommend $10 to $20 dollars per attendee. Donation is not required but just know it will benefit all the Conservation groups P&Y helps to support. Looking forward to another great P&Y Convention. C
PS: Can anyone guess all the Bowsiters in this picture from a past Convention? Left to Right?
Good deal, Charlie. Thanks for the post. Ready to be there.
You need some new meet and greet photos, Charlie. All of those guys are ancient. :)
Steve, Lou, Pat, not sure, Dan, Charlie, Tom, and Jake.
Thanks for doing this guys! Cya in a couple days
The "not sure" is Florida Mike. That was the first official Meet & Great in Rochester. What a great event it has become.
Be sure to find me there and sign the Kelly Harris K114 journal for the Harris family.
Thanks Pat and Charlie! Looking forward to meeting a lot of you guys!
Charlie, would this event be friendly for a 17 year old girl? She will certainly understand if not and will meet you all at the rest of the convention. Thanks!
Pat's third from the left. I have no clue re. the others.
Jaq: First Meet & Greet was 2009 in Denver. We had 71 attendees.
Brotsky: Absolutely, she is a Bowsite "well known" and more than welcome. Any of you guys and gals with kids or spouses/significant others are more than welcome.
Seriously? I was there and didn't know about it? My mistake.
Excellent, thanks Charlie, she'll be excited to hear that! Barring weather conditions preventing our travel on Friday we will be there!
Heck, I totally missed it in Denver and I was there!
Had a girlfriend at that one that was wanting to do other stuff around town so was out too much.
Will not miss this one!
Looking forward to seeing everyone!
On the road in the am:-)
Safe travels everyone!
I made the first one in Denver, none since but plan to say Hi on Friday.
Bunch of short dudes there......8*)
Pat and I met Kurt on the Colville River, North of the Brooks Range at Umiat in 1989.
This pic shows me holding Kurt’s Bull Moose antlers. He knew what he was doing then and we were clueless. Lots of history out there guys!
This should be fun time! Looking forward to it as well!
Great picture of you with Kurts bull, Charlie!
Lou.... green light on my beer.... you can have my share, long as ya drink one for me. And Danny, give Melanie a big ol, hug for me.
Gonna miss this one.... folks that have never been to one don't know what they are missing. Problem is.... I know....
Only gonna be just so many you can go to. Hoping I don't miss any more. You never know when Pat's gonna stop picking up the tab..... =D
See you all there! Looking forward to it.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
I think Charlie called me a fossil...although his hair is a lot lighter now too! Just kidding and fond memories of that Alaskan trip with Randy Giesey and Ron Pittsley. See Randy's post on Bowsite last week about the Predator Recurve that he donated in memory of Ron to the P&Y auction.
I'm starting the get the "adverse weather conditions could impede your travel plans" texts and emails from Delta. Getting through Minneapolis late tomorrow and in to Thursday might be tough. I'll be close...
You have way too much $$ to pick up, Cory. You better make it. :)
"Jaq: First Meet & Greet was 2009 in Denver. We had 71 attendees. "
That was the 1st? I had no idea, even though I was there.
I had a WSF board meeting not far away and took a cab to get to the Bowsite event ASAP after the meeting wrapped up for the day.
I’ll be there and will be fun... and if we’re not wearing name tags with names or bowsite handles then I apologize as I will screw everyone’s name up except nick! Haha
This will be my first. I normally don't travel to events like P&Y, but this one is in my back yard so I better go.
Trkyslr, just call everyone Nick. You’ll be right at least 3-4 times! Ha!
Looking forward to it! The location is perfect too as my son goes to college in Sioux City, IA and we live in Northern MO.
I will be there. Looking forward to it.
-Jeff
Been looking forward to this! Gonna be great to put voices and faces to names.
I can't wait to compare name tags with Ron and guess if we are related, but the names got screwed up at Ellis island......
Steve, you're probably still polish, I bled all mine out:)
I did a “cruise through” this aft and the animals are awesome. Convention logistics are great. Folks are all nice. Gonna be a great time !!!
Just crossed into KS....getting closer
I wont be able to make it til Saturday but I still hope to meet alot of you!
Never know who you’ll see!
Wish I was leaving today instead of tomorrow!
I'll be there in spirit! Hopefully in 2021 ! Everyone have a great time. Ed
I made it to York should be there in about 2 hours
If you're heading to Omaha from the South, you're going to pick up about 5-10 mpg, wind is blowing strong from the South. Safe travels everyone!
Rick...looks like Omaha must be in the eye of the hurricane because it's supposed to blow 50 out of the north here!
If you're headed up today I hear there is supposed to be some nasty hail in southern NE, stay safe everyone.
Absolute blizzard conditions predicted from Colorado to Omaha. Gonna be a tough drive for us coming from the West. Be safe
Who will be the 1st to strip down and take a dip in the water feature?
Been driving in snow and ice all morning.
Steve I believe someone will likely utilize that to show the moisture wicking and quick drying features of their Kuiu briefs.
Snow? Ice? AND wind? On second thought..... maybe I'll wait until it's back in Phoenix......... =D
damn it was in st. Louis and I didn't go....I need to pay attention to things like this.
A little bit of mist early in Denver when we left but out of it now. Rolling east on 80 and should hit town by 4.
Already rubbing elbows with cool people...
I80 closed in both directions to North Platte NE this morning. Most roads in Eastern Colorado also closed. Over 700 flights cancelled at DIA.
Hopefully they open up later today
Pretty ugly to the north as well Brad. We're going to be very tight making it to the meet and greet tomorrow. School was cancelled here today and Kia has testing now she needs to complete Friday morning so we won't be on the road until just before noon. Hopefully the road is clear and we make it in time for at least one or two :-) If not we should be in time for the banquet tomorrow night.
Not bad at all here in Omaha. Got a bunch of rain last night but no snow.
Safe travels to everyone coming in!
I'm with EmbryOK, that first photo looks like an add for AARP... LOL!
The convention and the Bowsite "meet and greet" is an assembly of a great bunch of good people!
I couldn't make it this year but I'd like to send sincere and hearty greetings to all of you.
All good here in Omaha. Just overcast skies.
Have a great time and travel safe gentlemen. Have to miss this one
"travel safe"... I'm just hoping to "travel". First I need to get my truck doors open as they are cemented shut by about 1/2 inch of ice.
Keep posting Pic's and so on for us people that can't make it :(
Sign,,, Wishing I was there from Pennsylvana :(
Heading that way in about two hours. Can’t wait
Hate I'm missing it guys have a great time!
Are we aging, scoring, or guessing weight on the hoof on that photo, Charlie?! One great collection of faces only a mother could love! Have fun and safe travels, gents.
We are getting socked in with snow here. Rumor has it that Eyad is showing up with a team of hsukies pulling him in.
Good luck all hope you all have a great convention/party could not make it happen but hope to someday Lewis
Just rolled into Omaha. Been working in KCMO all week and just came up I 29N. There is a short detour on the north end of St. Joe, Mo., but it will put you back onto I 29N in a few miles. Clear sailing until the north Rockport, Mo. exit. Go east on Hwy 136 a few miles, then take Hwy 275N to just east of Glenwood, Ia. Turn west on 275/34 and that will take you back to I 29N again, and you can take it all of the way into Council Bluffs & I 80.
Standing room only at Zach’s
Gents,
Please be careful and safe... I am not your mother, But, no drinking and driving please! Uber and Lift are very cheap compared to a DUI or worse! :)
I hope you all have a wonderful time, and please keep the pictures coming!
No need to drive, Scar. The convention, bars, Zach's room, an EMT and a special detox ward are all within walking distance.
Perfect! Just concerned for all you party Aminals… Mis-spelling on purpose:)
Ew world record sheep, and my 6 year old ;)
We had to do the zoo first thing
Elkman,
Some day you too will cross that gray line. Time waits on no man.
In the meantime if your health stays on the positive side maybe you will accomplish half of what some of those guys have done with a bow and even then I have my doubts.
I’ve already seen JTreeman, Nick Muche, Idyllwild, Ironmike, buffalo1, Zach Walton. Saw but didn’t say hi yet to Rick and Lana Embry, t-Roy, Pat and a few others. Hopefully get to meet and talk to some more here tomorrow
Just arrived. Now I need to recognize people I haven’t ever met.
P&Y announced tonight that conventions will be held annually. Even Year conventions will focus on conservation and education. They will be held in various locations in the US and be shorter in length. Next year the convention will be held in VA and will be the last weekend in March.
The odd year conventions will be longer in length and continue to focus on trophy animal awards. No word yet on location of the 2021 Convention.
They also announced a new search tool for getting info on trophies taken. Will have to pay for membership, beyond basic P&Y membership to obtain the info. Pretty cool stuff and will aid hunters researching for upcoming hunts.
Zack’s room has become an institution.
cnelk and I are in route from Colorado as of 4AM with beverages in tow. See you all soon.
This is evidence we need more youths to join our ranks ............ and fast
You guys should be well hydrated after filling that trash can with flavored waters Ike!
Any guesses which Bowsite members room this pile of dead soldiers sits in front of?
I am behind ...started early waiting for my connection at Midway.
Hello from the throne... bathrooms are nice!
Next year in Va? I smell a ROADTRIP.......................................................
Maybe Teeton and I will drive down from PA and bring you boys some REAL beer! ;-)
That's good stuff, Rut Nut!
Is Busch Latte not available there???
I have enjoyed getting to meet some of you and look forward to meeting the rest this afternoon. It’s also my dad’s (Beav) birthday today! We will see you guys soon!
Geez, I thought this group had more discriminating palates. I guess I'll bring iron City to VA. Only way I can think to compete with Busch Latte.
So I’ve cruised the place pretty well. Where is the Atrium?
Backup has arrived... Ed F
Looks like Bowsite is supporting the local economy! : )
I like the two bags of chips. Glad someone thought about dinner.
LOL! : )
Midwest- I refuse to drink anything else! Been drinking it ever since they came out with the Lager. Back then it was a local beer(Central PA) My buddy works in Pottsville so he can pick me up a couple cases whenever.......................................not any cheaper, but fresh out of the vat! : )
We made it! See you guys at the meet and greet!
The Meet &Greet is in the Embassy Suites, Atrium located behind the elevators.
There is no “invitation only”. Just being a Bowsiter is sufficient. We will be doing a donation to support the Conservation Fund. Zack has a surprise planned!!!
T-minus 45 minutes to launch.
OH snap. Someone's about to be bald, like me. :)
LOL! Will be following from PA....................................................... with INTEREST! : )
Looks like there could be some manscaping going down! Or did someone loose a bet?
Wish I could have stayed to meet the rest of you!!
Lookin a little lopsided!
Looks like an awesome time!!
I hope you all get a really bad haircut before this over...LOL
I would be the first to do a proper Mohawk, or get one! But I could do a better job than that on myself!
Dude... You need to find a new butcher, I mean barber!
I will be there at 8:00am tomorrow. I try to cash the last day
That is awesome! Love that DJTjr is there!
Thanks to Pat & Charlie having and hosting the Bowsite Gatherings at the P&Y Conventions. Zack+beer talk (Thursday night and Friday aft at gathering ) raised $13,000 at the Bowsite Gathering on Friday aft. Pat and Charlie presented the monies raised at the banquet Friday night. P&Y Friday night Banquet was 1000 bowhunters strong. As Pat stated earlier, Junior had an awesome speech. Trump, Jr. advocated and challenged hunters and fishermen to stand up in opposition the antis. He also advocated killing the antis with kindness - invite them to go with you sometime. Also, be a mentor to the youth, they are the next generation of hunters and fishermen.
What a great evening !!! Keep Bowhunting Great !!
Sorry I missed it this time around. Looks like a great time. Nice hoodie Half Pint... by now you know who the bad influences are that you need to keep some distance from.
I'm bummed I didn't make it out this year. It looks like you all are having a heck of a time!
Don Jr. certainly killed it.
Totally impressed by his speech and actions afterwards.
He stayed through the awards and recognition stuff to the end.
Amazing to have a guy like that stay through the entire event and not just be whisked out of there as soon as possible after they speak.
Hell, it got better! He went down and hung around till midnight! Had an awesome discussion with him and and a small group of the measuring group about some of P&Y’s panel scoring rules and how they were impacting some scores. He made excellent points and offered great suggestions for how to fix some of the issues.
Totally blew me away!
Nick and Zack even kept the big party under control till after he left!
Unbelievable, just totally unbelievable!
Wish I was there. Sounds like Zack and I were separated at birth... ;-)
We're doing a brewery road trip in Bend OR. right now. Cheers
More beer pictures than deer pictures in this thread
Here’s a bourbon picture for you ‘Bou so it’s not all about beer here.
What a great event. So many good people raised over $13,000 for the conservation fund. After Jason Stafford got his hair buzzed... Zack got his buzz as well. :)
I’m in good company here...me, nick, Ed and Roy in the back.
This has been a great event! Enjoying meeting other bowsiters and passionate Bowhunters.
Awesome 2-day auction event......record amount of money raised ($320,000+). Thanks to ALL those donors from Bowsite who contributed to the fight! (you know who you are)
Fun time hanging out with old friends and seeing our old bowbenders from CA (Chris).
Was great meeting many of you for the first time. Really enjoyed it. Was my first convention and talk about inspiring. Loved it. Was really glad I finally got to shake hands with this man as his articles inspired me when I was in college.
Looking forward to 2021 and will make plans to stay longer. Safe travels everyone!
Meet Pat this morning, I am only a Asian guy here.
Awesome event so far! Our bowhunting family has had a blast meeting and spending time with so many passionate and accomplished bowhunters! The boy and I are ready for the final night!
A highlight of the weekend for my girls! Spending a few moments sharing bowhunting stories with one of the nicest gentlemen we’ve had the pleasure of meeting! Nice sharing a few stories with you Paul@theFort!

2021 - Convention in Reno, NV !
Reno, Yay! Perfect time to dovetail some fishing for giant Lahontan cutthroat trout!
We were fortunate to have dinner with MR James and Larry Jones the last two nights. What a special treat for us.
Our last evening. Man, we had a great time!
L to R...Native Okie, me, EmbryOklahoma, Cnelk.
I hope you boys cap it off right! Great meeting you guys!
Good people. Hospitality room is full o’beers.
You guys/gals had a lot of good fun---------->
Thanks for sharing
Travel home safe and smart.
Good luck, Robb
Thanks to Zack, Jason Stafford, Mark Watkins, Dallas Smith and the 100+Bowsite guys that donated to the P&Y Club Conservation Fund at the Meet and Greet. You guys made us ALL very proud. Bowsite Rocks again and always. C
The End... See you in Virginia and then again in Reno. Ed F
Oh man, Zack held me down and poured bourbon down my throat! Not feeling so well this AM
Nicky Muche said This guy and Ike were animals! No bottle of Makers was safe when they showed up...
A very special thanks goes to Pat, Charlie, and all the Bowsiters who contributed to create the two new "baldies" that raised the $13,000+ for the Pope & Young Club's Conservation Fund. Though not directly tied to this "event", Zack also raised quite a bit more with another challenge (something to do with a noisy room) and then again on Saturday night with another challenge, which brought in more money. Again, a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped raise these additional funds for the P&Y Conservation Fund. Doug Clayton Conservation Chair Pope & Young Club
Pat and Charlie presenting the cash raised. Again from the Pope & Young Club - THANK YOU!!
A noisy room? What? I couldn’t hear you...
—Jim
My ears are still ringing from that thing that happened in room 531...
Had a great time putting faces to all the names from bowsite. It's been a rough travel day so far...looks like I am spending another night in Omaha.
So, I took the bowsite sign (with approval). I got a lot of bowsiters to sign it while up in the "noisy room".
Next time we need to all sign it and then raffle it off to the top bid. The money can go to the Conservation fund. Thoughts?
Meanwhile, I have this one in my house. :)
Fantastic idea! We will need to be very creative to top this year’s total. Thanks for doing that! C
PS: Let’s be thinking of some other ideas too.
Well done gentlemen. I gotta work to join you in the future.
What a great time at the show, and thanks so much to all for their generosity in supporting the P&Y club.
Hope everyone gets home safe. With all the flight cancellations through Chicago and elsewhere, we ended up renting a car to get home.
Hope to see you all in VA next year at the new ANNUAL convention, and then at Reno in '21.
WOW! What a weekend! To say good time was had by all is an understatement. I just finished an IV treatment to help speed recovery. Got stuck in Chicago coming home due to storms, but managed to get ot Mon AM early. Glad to have been a part of a great group of dedicated bowhunters , both Bowsite and P&Y who SHOWED that dedication in a big way. Hat's off to Zack ( although he may want to wear one for a while) for all his efforts!!! Looking forward to next time.
What a weekend! It's going to take me awhile to recover for sure. Was great to meet all of you guys and put faces to the names. We also had issues getting home with delays and cancellations. Ended up getting home after midnight.
Can't believe how much fun we had this weekend!! Almost to much if there is such a thing Lol! Can't wait to start getting together every year instead of every other!!!! Hope to see you all in Virginia.
Not to sound like an echo, but another great convention! Enjoyed visiting with all my friends, old and new!
Lenny
Definitely a great time! Looking forward to Virginia next year!
I, for one, am NOT looking forward to this being an annual event. My body can only take so many IPA's, Vodka and Bacon Cheeseburgers.
Thanks again to Pat and Charlie for hosting the Meet and Greet. Always great to get together with a bunch of like minded fellow Bowsiters for a good old fashioned head shaving and all for a good cause. KUDOS gents...
Forgive me but i am posting this on all the P&Y treads:
Where to start...
It is always great to be surrounded by those who are so accomplished, yet so humble. So reserved, yet so outgoing. So motivated to the pursuit that ends in the loss of life for a specific animal, yet so dedicated to the preservation of wildlife as a whole. Here are some of my highlights:
The Bowsite meet and greet where Pat and Charlie provide an atmosphere for us to come together and interact, while supporting a great cause is always at the top of my list for P&Y. This year was no exception.
Shaking hands and having real conversations with legends that I have admired for decades and having them bum beer off me :)
Looking at amazing trophies from all over NA and realizing that P&Y still makes a difference. And the fact that there were 5 new world’s records shows that the “good old days” are not necessarily in the past.
The show of recognition for those that have dedicated untold amounts of time and effort to the success of P&Y over the years.
Seeing hundreds of people come by my room for a visit (and maybe a drink or two) over the four nights, showed me the power of a common passion. Regardless of where we live, our religious or political believes, our economic situation or how successful we are in the field, we all came together and had conversations about bowhunting.
I truly believe—even if everyone doesn’t feel this way—that there was interaction in rooms 643 and 531 that would have never happened otherwise. That it helped solidify people into a decision to attend the next convention. That many will help support the P&Y Club in more significant ways than if we didn’t have those get togethers. Thank you to all those that helped with the “after hours social outreach” program that we decided to undertake. You know who you are. And yes, thank you to all those staying in the hotel—especially my neighbors—that allowed us to partake and not called the police on us. And thank you to everyone for being so engaged, so polite and so supportive of our group and the P&Y Club.
When I hear people talk about hunters as those that don’t care about animals, I tell them to spend one day with those of us that attend P&Y conventions. When I hear that P&Y doesn’t do enough for conservation, I’ll remind them about the tens of thousands we raised in cash on a whim. And when asked what I am willing to do to support wildlife conservation, I just lift my cap and point to my bald head.
Thanks again everyone for reminding me the reasons we do what we do.
Great times and pics!
We have ALOT of really great people on Bowsite (and in P&Y)!!!
Now to give my liver a well deserved break:)
Mark
VERY well said, Zack! Couldn't agree more.
Jared
Zack nailed it. Great to meet those of you that I did. Next time, I hope meet even more of you.
