The Alaskan Bowhunters Association is raffling off a fully guided Brown Bear hunt with Jonah's Alaskan Outfitters. This hunt is for NEXT Spring, May 15 - June 15 and the outfitter will work with the winner to secure their 8 day hunt within those dates. We are only selling 300 tickets at 100$/ea and the drawing will be held as soon as the last one is sold. The many Bowsiter's that have been lucky enough to hunt with Jonah can vouch for the fact it is a highly successful hunt and we are pleased to be offering one lucky person this opportunity! Scoot, aside from hoping that the ABA can raise funds through this effort for things like sprucing up our states archery ranges and supporting NASP programs in our schools, we really wanted to offer something that very few will have an opportunity to do. Just picked up a chance for this bear hunt.
Working on a couple of Osage staves now and would be pretty cool to get lucky in this draw and initiate a selfbow with a brown bear! Gotta at least give ‘em a little bit of a chance;-)

1. Do you have to be a ABA Member?
2. If you are unable to make the hunt, is it transferable?
3. Is it possible to apply this raffle toward a different species with the Outfitter?

1.) this raffle is open to anyone, although we encourage anyone who bowhunts in Alaska to join!
2.) This Hunt is not a draw hunt so would be transferable although details need to be worked out with outfitter by the winner ASAP to provide time to coordinate the logistics for the trip.
3.) this raffle is only for a 2020 Spring Baited Brown Bear Hunt. Not transferable to another date range or species. Part of the downfall of working with one of the best outfitters in the entire state, they stay booked up several years out across the board and such transfers aren’t feasible :)

I thought that I would mention this on site rather than a p.m. in case other Canadians are interested in purchasing a ticket and supporting your cause.
I tried to purchase a ticket but the system will not accept a Province in place of a State, nor a postal code rather than a zip code, nor a blank space in place of the zip requirement beside the credit card number at the bottom.
Is there a solution?

I called squares service desk this morning for another Canadian hopeful winner, the address is simply for shipping purposes so he suggested using ABAs address for the address line (we aren’t shipping physical tickets anyway). As long as the name phone number and email comes through on the order I will have all the info I need come drawing time. It worked like a charm earlier. If it still doesn’t you can PM me and I’ll figure out a way to line up PayPal or another form of payment.

134 sold in first 4 days so far, keep spreading the good word fellas and we will be drawing a winner in no time. If this goes smoothly we will definitely be offering different raffles in the future for different price range hunts a few times a year. Those adding a membership will get our quarterly magazine to stay up to date and others can check the website/Facebook page for updates.
Happy to have ABA headed back in the right direction where we can help reinvigorate the sport of archery up north. We have a great team as current board members and a lot of cool projects in the pipeline.
If I didn’t exclude myself from the draw I’d have bought a ticket myself. I’ll definitely be jealous of whoever we draw :)

I have a friend who likes buying raffle tickets but he always buys only 1 ticket in any draw - he says (with a grin) that if he were to buy 2, he knows for sure that one of them is no good, LOL!

This is a great idea...my suggestion is next time use an app or excel spreadsheet with all names added or even using an app that chooses a random number. If using a number entries are assigned a specific number. I think it would be better than actually picking a name from a bowl, just my 2 cents. I look forward to future draws.
