This morning, when my cell phone rang it said it was a call from Palmer, AK. I knew it wasnt good news.
Last week, my Alaska buddy for the past 40 years went down to Minnesota and purchased an airplane - Cessna 170B - and flew it back to AK. His plan was to do contract flying for the Park Service
The plane crashed in Whitehorse last night. No Survivors. See link.
He was a retired Army pilot [Lieutenant Colonel] , 3 tours in Afghanistan, after retirement he worked as a safety inspector for the Natl Park Service in ANC.
I hunted with him in Alaska twice - caribou and moose - and he came down to Colorado elk hunting a couple years ago.
He was my friend

Thanks for the words guys. He left behind a wife and 2 grown daughters.
My son was up visiting him just last month for a week. He took him all over AK, from Kasilof up to Delta Junction. Im glad he got the tour

I heard on the radio last week that there were 2 plane crashes in AK, distance wise they were fairly close together, within just a few days of each other.
