Anyone got some time with the Lorpen socks from Camofire? Which ones and how do they hold up?

I bought some several years ago, brown, other than that I don't know the particulars. I would recommend them. I still wear mine often.

Absolute junk IMO. I have tried several pairs and they don't hold a candle to Darn Tough, Smartwool PHD, or GORE socks. I have tried a couple different kinds. I wear them to walk the dog in the morning and on the occasional upland hunt but they don't get anywhere near my feet for a legit mountain hunt or anything where mileage will be placed on them. Your mileage may vary.

I agree with Brotsky. I had some Lorpen socks and initially they were good but they didn't last long.

Funny how varied opinions/experiences can be. I have 2 pair form several years ago. Don’t wear them everyday or anything, but I think the are pretty decent. They are not my favorite pair, but I certainly oh don’t hate them or think they are junk. No idea the model/name, mine are gray in color, I’m sure that helps a lot ;)

I'm with Jim, I have had several pairs, only wear them limited times and for light duty hikes, but I have no problem with them for the price. I have the grey ones, just reordered a few pairs as I wore out a few of my old ones.

X3 with Jim and Scott. I have several pair and they're fine. I have even wore them on some Extreme Mountain hunts and they've been fine. I have some that are several years old with a ton of miles on them and they are still fine. I also wear Gore, Wooloffte, Smart Wool, Darn Tough and the new STone Glacier socks. I have a problem with Darn Tough actually. Though they are super high quality, my toes are sore every time I hike in them. I actually won't wear Darn Tough socks on a hunt, though that will not be a popular statement around here... :)

PECO, I think they are the light hikers. I have the green as mentioned above, the problem with those is they tend to stretch on the calf and don't stay up, they lose their compression and begin to slip. I have the grey and they have bad cushion and a short life expectancy, ended up ripping every pair. Have had the blue and they are similar to the gray but have held up a little better. I think I tried one other color and they were similar to the gray.

Thanks for the heads up, I ordered 6 more pairs. I only wear Lorpen light hikers and think they're a pretty good sock for the price. I'm sure there's better out there though.

I've had such good luck with Smartwool, I can't bring myself to try any other sock for hunting. I wear the light hiker for running in the winter as well.

I have and like them. I have a few pair that are old (10+) and still good and I wear them a lot skiing.. Some wool socks make my feet slide around in my boots, My lorpen don't. Your feet siding around in your boots will causing you to claw your toes to grip the inside of your boots, that will cause muscle fatigue. The thing is you don't even realize you are doing it.. I learned this from the ski industry and then found how it carried over to feet moving in hiking boots. Some very big name brand sock will cause this. Lorpen will not, Smart Wool will not. Lorpen I also believe carry a life time warrant.. I know of two brands that cause feet to side one is Darn Tough and the other I can't remember right not.

Thanks for the reviews. I almost pulled the trigger on them this morning. I'm going to pass. I am very tough on socks, and there is enough here to scare me away. I destroy smart wool, walmart wool, REI and other wool socks. The only socks that last with me are cycling socks, and they ain't gonna cut it for hiking and hunting.

Gone through a few pairs. When the price is right, not a bad sock. Not as good as the others mentioned but I don’t mind running through a few pairs when they are on sale.

I buy them on sale on Camofire to use for everyday wear in the fall and winter, or around camp on trips.

I have a bunch of the light hiker merino socks and the coolmax ones and wear them often, for $5-6 a pair or whatever, I don't cry when they wear out after a couple years...

10-15 years ago the Lorpen light hikers was an excellent sock for the money. They've since changed the materials used and are no longer a good sock. The ones from years back lasted a long time and my feet didn't sweat in them. The new ones wear out super quick and my feet now sweat like crazy in them. Mostly use Darn Tough. I will find Darn Tough Hikers in TJ Max sometimes for like $8-10.

I purchased Darn Tough about 10 years ago - they are still as good as the day I purchased them. They are spendy, but lifetime warranty. I also have Merino wool and really like them as well
All of my "good" socks .... I ALWAYS wash in cold water and NEVER put in dryer, they retain their shape and last a lot longer.

I have 8-10 pairs of Lorpen wool socks of various types, brown, gray, and black and have held up well in the several years I've owned them. I wear them in fall and winter.

No experience with them myself but, my hunting buddy Dan mentioned his displeasure with them during deer camp this fall. Don't know or remember his problem however.

Darn Tough socks. I hiked 489 miles in the mountains last year. Only wore DT’s year around. They are the best. Free replacement if there is a problem. A seam started to show loose threads. They sent a free replacement.
