Bush found in north-central KY with what appears to be an X-shaped pod

Euonymus species. Hopefully this is our native Euonymus atropurpureus (Wahoo) and not the invasive Burning Bush (Euonymus alatus) which is becoming a big problem. Check the twigs for "corky wings" on the non-native Burning Bush. Wahoo have red/scarlet seeds while Burning Bush seeds are orange.

Thanks. The seed pods are pink and yellow with a hint of orange. The bush was growing amongst bush honeysuckle and the seed caught my eye as unusual. I was in a hurry and only grabbed the leaf and seed for ID.

Looks like a Wahoo to me. I have them on my place in central KY.
