Survival/Emergency meals

I'm interested in getting some opinions on your survival food choices. Whether you buy them for future prep, or if you use them in your hunting/fishing camp.
I went fishing in Alaska with some friends back in 2016, and all we had for the week was a huge bin full of Mountain House meals. I must say we ate well that week, and it was quite satisfying.
So, what brand do you prefer, pricing, quality, quantity, availability etc.?
The prepper sites have it in bulk cheaper.
Peak Refuel. Doubt I’ll ever go back to Mountain House outside of maybe one or two favorites. Little more expensive, but if you’re patient and do some looking around you can find $10.99 sales, including on their own site.
I am a Mountain House fan. I have tried several other brands and don't care for them. A few months ago, someone posted how good the Peak meals were. I tried them and did not care for them either.
Mountain House cost is reasonable, they taste good and are easy to find. The only issues I have are gastric issues in that I pass a lot of gas. My wife tells me this is normal for me. They do tend to plug me up though. I may not do a dump until about day 8 or 9 of a 14 day hunt.
I think there are much better options these days. I like the Peak Refuel stuff I've had.
Want to try the Stowaway Gourmet. Likely more expensive but MUCH better for you.
I use MRE's, but to combat the plugging up I take fiber chews with me on my hunts.
Stowaway features a "Wild boar bacon bean stew". I wouldn't want to be in a tent with anyone who ate a big steaming bowl of THAT!
Tried a few brands, Mountain House has been consistently the best. Some are downright terrible.
Sounds like MH is a front runner. Has anyone had experience with 4 Patriots Foods?
I guess it depends what you’re after. If it’s simply taste then buy them all and see what you like best. For me, tromping around all day and then cracking into a Mountain House that reads 440 calories, high sodium content, and a dab of protein is kind of disheartening. Diving into a 1000cal Peak Refuel with close to 50 grams of protein makes a little more sense to me. I’m no nutritionist though. Just figure the slight price/weight increase in the PR’s is well worth it.
X2 on the Peak Refuel. However I do like the MH biscuits and gravy
Peak ReFuel will beat MH in head to head taste IMHO. And generally has more calories per bag.
I like the MH biscuits and gravy too, but I like to mix them with an egg dish.
But for dinners, Next Mile meals are way better than MH. If you buy 50 of them you get a 5% discount and a 10% discount for 100 of them so I'm sitting on >$1000 dollars of freeze-dried food. I figure they're good if the SHTF and if not, I'll eat them all up on hunts eventually...
I like Peak Refuel Chicken Pesto and chicken Alfredo, I like MH beef stroganoff, chicken noodle casserole, biscuits and gravy, and breakfast skillet. Going to have to try some of these other ones.
I was on the Greenland ice cap for a week eating MH. It was ok. It did need some hot sauce to liven it up though. I brought a bottle of Texas Pete with me and it didn't last long once the other team members seen what I was doing to the MH.
