Houston, We may have a problem:

With all the talk about travel restrictions and how archery hunts were and could be affected, I thought I'd share a recent FB post I made. I had received several chain emails claiming COVID death counts were inflated. I went directly to CDC web site and did my own research. Here is my office white board and I'm astonished as the total deaths in U.S. do not reflect the "Covid Death Tracker" web site estimates of + 336,000 COVID deaths last year. We had an uptick but no where close to the estimate reflected in total deaths. Every life matters and if you know a loved one who died then an emotional argument probably trumps any data I shared.

But we did shut down the greatest economy on earth last year and spent trillions of dollars to fight COVID...….The question at the bottom of my white board begs an answer? Additionally, each of us has to decide about vaccination and annual booster shots and how we may live our lives differently going forward or not.

In just to see how long it is before you are called a Covid denier, Trumpet or some other denigrating term for those who don't fall in lock and step with the leftist narrative.

From: Shiras42

I am far, far, far from a leftist, but could it be that many of the people did die from COVID, but the reason the numbers don't make sense is that many of the people that did die from COVID (or it's complications) were on schedule to die last year anyway due to other comorbid conditions that would have caused their demise anyway?

Shiras,

I think that is what RC is postulating.

Pretty enlightening....

Did you take into account that other causes of death could have went down 2020 and Covid deaths went up? What makes you think that the difference of total number of deaths from 2019 to 2020 were only Covid related? I promise you that math is not that simple.

From: sticksender

That's gotta be uncomfortable for some who've been profiting from the hype.

From: Bowfreak
07-Apr-21
You don't have to take anything into account. 57,000 more people died than from the year before. People don't just quit dying from all other causes because there is a pandemic.

Also...why is math not that simple? Maybe you meant interpretation of statistics, but addition and subtraction is really that simple.

From: elkmtngear

KS...look at all the numbers, going back to 2017...something doesn't add up here!

You'd have us believe that an annual increase of 570,00 Covid deaths, somehow fits that pattern?

From: Rickm
07-Apr-21
Well, almost nobody died from flu but other than that, I can't see how Covid helped people survive other age related illness morbidity?

Then again, who knows how accurate any of the numbers are?

DON'T FORGET THE LARGE INCREASE IN DRUG OVERDOSE, SUICIDE, AND HOMICIDE DIRECTLY CAUSED FROM GOVERNMENT POLICIES IN 2020, AND CONTINUING IN MANY STATES TODAY.

ROUGH COUNTRY, Not calling you a denier or anything like that but I think your numbers are off. When did you find that number? JAMA and the CDC has the number at 3,358,000 and some change. That is about a 17% increase. You can't take final numbers on Jan 31 of 2020 because it takes time to get all the data in. I think they just gave or are about to do their final report. No doubt this disease contributed in the deaths of people who would still be alive today if they didn't contract it. No doubt some people "died" of COVID who were already on their way out. The truth is usually in the middle.

You guys are still acting as though you think the CDC and DNC actually give a rats ass as to what you know or believe.

And Ryan still talks as though there is any legitimacy to any of it.

I think this is a worthwhile discussion to have and if I'm wrong I can accept that. I prepared this whiteboard several weeks ago and sat on it. I initially couldn't see a 2020 final number on the CDC web-site. I did share the CDC snap-shot on the 2nd post. To use a hunting metaphor, I don't want to lazily accept herd mentality when it comes to freedoms, debt and lifestyle change if the narrative is false or "massaged."

I am the first to say the response to COVID was over blown. But I have also seen plenty of people around me that has gotten COVID and been very sick including ending up in the hospital. Two people I knew very well died. Neither of them were in perfect health for sure but at the same time I am confident they still be here today had they not gotten COVID. For a lot of people it is like breaking a hip. If you are 25 and in great shape you are probably going to heal and be no big deal. If you are little old lady it has a good chance of killing you because you are old and frail. But you still died because you broke your hip. It is real and it kills people I think that is hard to deny.

Interesting...…...I'll crawl back in my hole and go away:) Heart disease jumps considerably in 2020 compared to previous 4 years. Unintentional jumps considerably...……….. Alzheimer jumps considerably...….. Diabetes jumps considerably...…… Lower Respiratory DROPS for the first time in previous 4 years. Others are flat Final numbers jump after December 31st coincidentally to about the total number of COVID cases...…...

Hm. . . heart disease deaths and diabetes deaths up substantially, wonder if that has to do with people refusing to go to the doctor over COVID concerns?

If Biden I mean Fauci says so, then it must be so.........you ever wondered who the real puppet masters are? Because some of you are getting your strings pulled and don’t even know it. Wait a minute. My back is wet. I think it’s raining. Is somebody pissing?

07-Apr-21
To the OP, if those numbers were correct, then that would be eye-opening. It appears though, that your 2020 numbers are incorrect.

Lets be certain about one thing, though. COVID definitely kills disproportionally those with a short lifespan prognosis - that's been known for quite some time.

07-Apr-21
Logical conclusions and a common sense approach to Covid isn’t accepted by sone people. They were told this is the deadliest thing ever and by golly it Anything else is just fallacy.

KS...I added the all numbers on your chart 3 times, and come up with a grand total of 2,523,077.

Did the Washington Post make this chart?

From: KSflatlander
07-Apr-21
I linked the original article from the Journal of the American Medical Association. Notice that is only lists the "leading" causes of death...not all causes. That's why the total don't add up to all 2020 deaths. That is my assumption. Feel free to read the linked article.

The error here is the presumption that the CDC had tabulated all 2020 deaths as of 12/31/20, when as of today the CDC still hasn't completed its reporting of full year 2020 death statistics on its website (2019 is the most recent year reported). The OP simply provided analysis based on a bad assumption which invalidates the results.

That article that KSflatlander linked is a good read as it includes more complete numbers and a qualitative interpretation of the data.

The list only includes the top categories, so it won't sum.

We will be crunching numbers for some time yet. Economic activity declined, so did travel. Deaths will be down most likely in areas like this (work related, accidents) and up in others as pointed out such as suicides.

I know of several deaths directly tied to C19, but can only think of a couple of flu related deaths during my entire lifetime. This has been worse by far than the regular flu varieties, but bad enough to shut down a $22 Trillion economy remains the big question.

I am diabetic, but not worried about it mutating. I have received my first shot, and do wonder if it is worth the second given the news on the latest mutations. If this wasn’t so political an honest view would be we really don’t know yet and most of us are guessing.

07-Apr-21
Lmao Washington Post. Sounds about right. These clowns want to keep you all in masks from now on no matter what the science says. Thank God we have governors like the guys in Texas, Florida and and the lady in South Dakota and a handful of others.....:. This shit is all smoke screen so these liberals can attempt to destroy the constitution and ram the socialist agenda while they think no one is looking.........

I was in the military for some time and when someone in command to me some thing I always wonder if it was meant to help me or them? And I know for a fact that it was never meant to help me. So when someone tells you there doing all this for your wellbeing and piece of mind I just can't trust them.

I am just shocked that this hasn’t been pulled by the moderators yet!

Everything on any social media that goes against the narrative has been getting censored.

Been saying that the numbers are not adding up for at least the last 10 months... Get censored on any and all platforms!

Communism is the virus. Covid is just how they spread it.

You guys get too reliant on stats. The only stats I look at are the people I know (or are personally known by people I know) who have been seriously ill or died from Covid. If you don’t know some of these personally, you don’t get out much.

Just look around people. This isn’t just another normal bug. It was created in a lab and many of us don’t have the right stuff to fight it off.

But just keep sticking your head in the sand. Maybe when someone you care about dies from it you will change your tune

Most people I know, know at least one person who died from Covid, with no question that Covid killed them. When is the last time you can remember Someone you know died from an infection that shouldn’t have. The people I know personally, and the others I know of through friends, are the Only numbers I need to see
