For you heavy hitters who like the biscuits and gravy a little too much....I came across this and noticed RR's name mentioned. It looks good. I like fried cabbage a lot with bacon, onions, a touch of garlic, a touch of adobe seasoning, pepper and maybe some smoked sausage. That might not be the ideal diet recipe like this one...but it tastes good.

I make it all the time........I vary the ingredients, depending on what I have from the garden and on hand.......I like to boil things up with some bacon grease added.....Easy to make, tastes good, and keeps well in the fridge. But it's definitely not all I eat. :-)

My recipe includes kidney beans to enhance the effects. ;-)

The kidney beans would be pretty good in it. I think some shredded chicken would also be good.

I call my version hillbilly cabbage soup. And, it’s delicious. Cabbage makes any soup better. Especially a tomatoes broth soup.

I bought the fixin's for this soup today. I will add some chicken to it and see how it goes. If it goes well, I have a squirrel in the freezer that might find his way into the next batch.

That's the kind of stuff I eat all the time, but there's lots of other things you can make with those ingredients, so I don't eat soup every day. But it's high in health promoting nutrients, low carb, and good for the immune system. Cruciferous veggies are very good for us. I put lots of wild mushrooms in mine too... also very healthy.

If you start by smoking the heartier ingredients for a little while first it makes it better imo. That's how I make smoked deer chili. And yep, I put cabbage in my deer chili too, but ya wouldn't know it. It cooks away.

Cabbage in chili....that's a GREAT idea!

1-2 Tbs of Smoked paprika would be another spice I’d throw in. I don’t put cabbage in my deer chili but always add a cut up celery stalk.

Here's my cabbage soup recipe. Time to make some.

2 lbs. venison burger, browned

1 medium cabbage, chopped

1/2 large can V8 (add more if you want)

1 can diced tomatoes

1 can Rotel ( I like the spicy version)

1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 pkg. Good Seasons Italian Dressing mix

Mix it all up and simmer for an hour. Easy peasy.

May have to try some cabbage sometime, but just made some Pasta e Fagioli with ground venison. Not necessarily low carb with the pasta, but there isn’t a lot of pasta and it’s small.
