Montana is going to propose major changes to hunting regulations...while I think simplification is needed, when I see the FWP director talking about elimination of seasons that were advocated for by a person or group, i.e. Montana Bowhunters Association, I can imagine losing some of the bow hunting seasons and special regulation areas. The FWP director doesn't seem to hold Montana hunters to any high regard based on comments during the last legislative session.

I plan on attending the meeting here in Missoula on Monday, but really have no idea what to expect. Rumors are flying, and what I'm reading is not good.

If one of the plans is to review special interest generated regs.....I wonder of the recently passed outfitter welfare tag program will get looked at??

I would expect that any special season not mandated by legislation will be up for discussion. That may include special bow season for antelope, a couple of the special reg areas in Montana that are weapons restricted, lengths of bow seasons and gun seasons, definitely limited tag areas, esp for elk, Missouri Breaks bow seasons and tag allocations among others. I think we will see increased cow elk opportunities and further opening up of landowner tags maybe. There could also be changes to the block management program based on the directors prior comments. It will be interesting.
