Curious as to why you didn’t have an elk tag, Stix? Draw unit?

Well, I understand not having an elk tag in NM. It’s frustrating how many states systems make it difficult to have a bear or other tag like lion or wolf or even deer tag at the same time due to needing to draw.
I’ve had my best deer and bear and a wolf if it were easier/cheaper to have a secondary tag. It’s just too pricy to always drop tags for secondary animals.
Another nice thing about hunting AK. I always have a slew of other tags in my pocket just in case.

I was wrong, no deer but darn near ran over a flock of turkeys. When that season opens they'll be 'elsewhere'...
