Better question what isn’t a shortage.

Anything with a computer chip (ie: half of everything), vehicles, lumber, taxidermy forms, labour, ammo, kayaks, boats, printers, meat, common sense, pretty much anything and everything.

Shortage of good prices! If you're willing to spend a lot the shortages go away.

Was ammo shopping and saw one lonely box of 20 gauge Remington 'Gun Club' loads, price tag said $33.95. A few years ago I was getting a case for $55.

Lot of locals have bought 20 gauge slug guns, (the Savage 220 has a following) and I wish I had a few cases of 20 ga sabot rounds for sale. Could probably buy a new Lexus...

From: Lawdog

Yep. No black powder available anywhere. I'm done for this black powder season. So, I figured I'd back order and wait. Can't even do that. I guess I'll just go the substitute route just so I can use my rifle. But this is nothing new with ammo and components. Folks around here have been paying $1 a round for 9mm-if they can find it. Thankfully, I stocked up on ammo and components during the Obama years and when I thought Hillary may win.

I still haven't figured out the TP issue. If that's the best someone can do, I don't think they're going to make it:).

We recently were in the market for a new 4Runner for my wife. So, we went to a dealership that normally has over 600 vehicles in stock. They had less than 30 cars on the lot, and only one 4Runner that wasn't the color my wife wanted. We called around and couldn't find a single new white 4Runner anywhere in Colorado or surrounding states. So, we had to get on a waiting list for a future delivery 2 months down the road.

On the way home from work today there was a 20-30ish young man standing in the median begging at the cars in the left turn lane. This is in an area that it LINED with stores of all types, as well as fast food joints, of which EVERYONE has a help wanted sign out. In fact, he was within 100 yards of at least 2 stores that are crying for help. The beggar's sign said...

"I HAVE NO JOB...HELP ME"

What his sign SHOULD have said is....."I DON'T WANT A JOB....JUST HAND OUTS"

Speaking of worker shortages. My ex works in an assisted living home as a nurse aide. The home is so short of staff that on her days off the supervisors ask her what hourly wage she would like to work at to fill a vacancy.

If she gives them an hourly wage within reason they will pay her that wage to fill a vacancy. It is typically double time plus a $50 bonus for a 4 hour shift and $100 bonus for an 8 hour shift.

Well, you guys can blame this mess on Biden if you want, but I think that logic is kinda silly. The entire world's economies basically shut down for almost a year, disrupting supply chains everywhere. Now that things are returning to some semblance of normal, there is a boom in demand, but no products.

One can certainly debate that governments around the world overreacted to Covid with all the mandated shutdowns, and I would tend to agree, but very little of that is on Biden in the US. State and local governments are who issued the the vast majority of lockdowns in the US.

Now, before you get your panties in a wad, and claim I'm defending Biden, I'm not. The man clearly has done nothing to help us out of this mess. The vaccine mandates that ignore natural immunity are a crime, IMO, and will only contribute. to the labor shortage. Imposing fines on shipping carriers that don't get moved in an allotted timeframe is perhaps the most stupid idea I've heard. So, with surging inflation, high transportation costs, a labor shortage, and global manufacturing delays, his brilliant idea is to make it even more difficult on shipping companies to do their jobs. UFB!

We are building a house through this fiasco. Everything is hard to get.

Windows took 4 months. Garage doors have been missing for months and no idea when they’ll get here

Spray foam was difficult to get. Electrical boxes.

Workers are hard. No one wants to work apparently.

Onyx is taking 3-4 months. Hardwood floors are back ordered. Furniture and appliances.

The local Walmart looks like Russia before the fall of communism.

My wife can’t find her cherry coke zero cans.

Ammo of course.

Maybe it’s not all Biden’s fault. But here’s a crazy idea, instead of incentivizing people NOT to work. Let’s incentivize people TO work. Give the people who DO work a tax break or something.

Meanwhile back in Canada, a bunch of the same, morally corrupt, lazy, lying, sell serving socialist voted for a failed drama teacher, who painted his face black, got off on sexually assaulting a reporter and syphoning millions of dollars to his brother, wife and mother.

IMO.....Prez Trump had many things on autopilot (border, oil, etc) and those things were good for all Americans. Along comes the election and Prez Biden comes in. Being a swamp politician and not a leader or manager.....he reversed the good that Prez Trump had in place and brought us Biden-nomics. He also put people in charge that are not qualified to do the job they're in charge of (ie...Mayor Pete Bootyjudge). Mayor Pete checking out on baby leave while the ports are in a crisis is a classic example of self over country. VP Kammie is in hiding from her border assignment.

Where is the floor on Prez Biden's job approval? He is underwater and IMO will continue to drop to the point where only his hardcore fans will be the ones supporting him. I could see him in the 30's someday.

For 2024.....I'd like to see who the Repub nominees will be before I jump on anyone's bandwagon. The bench is pretty deep with folks I could support.

I don't know who the Dems have that could even make the election competitive. Biden or Kammie running for Prez would be great for the Repubs. Crazy Bernie....the country is getting their fill on how bad socialism is....he is out. In fact...I think any Dem who even attempts to peddle anything smelling socialist is DOA. Wearing a Dem strategist hat...they better put up someone who is a moderate or this won't even be competitive.

All the same shortages here but the serious shortage is the shortage of corn in harvested fields. These modern combines and more precise planters mean very little grain on the ground when harvest is over. The cornfield at my place has almost zero corn on the ground. What are my deer going to eat all winter?

From: Grey Ghost

Aspen Ghost,

If they are truly “your” deer, perhaps you should feed them. ;-)

Farming methods have definitely gotten more efficient. It used to be that corners of large pivoted fields had a lot of great habitat for wild game here in Colorado. The pheasant hunting, especially, has fallen way off since they started farming corner to corner. I can’t fault the farmers for maximizing their harvests, though.

My reloading room has enough ordnance to burn a hole in earth 15ft deep for two days. I had a life time of brass from 25yrs of duty in .45, 5.56. 7.62mm and others. I had other wildcats i need brass for or to make brass from that."

And we wonder why there is a shortage of ammo etc. I read a very interesting article where the interviewee talked to I think it was CEO of Federal Ammo, and he laid out why there are the current shortages. Basically goes back to conservative people FREAKING out when Obummer was prez. Ammunition and rifle sales have never been better than during those 4 years.

Ironically the Trump era saw the biggest downturn for arms and ammo suppliers. The "right" army felt safe now that Trump was in power. Hard times for ammo manufacturers and they needed to downsize. Come 2020 and a Trump loss coupled with supply issues, and once again hoarders trying to get all they can, and here we are. Now the situation is that manufacturers have to spool up again, albeit in a pandemic with said supply chain issues.

Funny thing actually as I reflect on this, is how we as a right leaning conservative type people love to rag on the toilet paper hoarders, yet the conservative mob has been no better when it comes to ammo lol. They can't make it fast enough, because as soon as someone is able to find some they find the need to clean the store out. Like it or hate it, that's the reality, and it's mainly the hoarding that has lead to ammo shortages, and the hoarding is based on fears. Also funny how the best thing business-wise for the ammo and arms manufacturers is a democratic president. Chew on that one for a bit.

In the USA, we usually get the "surplus" the military doesn't need after the manufacturers have met their quotas. Less war conflict and foreign policing action decreases the demand for higher supplies. There is a ramp up before need, then the supply is satisfied, we get the rest whether it is a 1 lb canister of IMR 4350 or a box of Hornady ELD-X's.

It wasn't necessarily a Trump loss, it's the nonending, tiresome monologue yammering of the left and how they are going to curb violence and death by implementing "GUN CONTROL"

But, at least some people's vote has been VINDICATED!!!

The TP shortage that was out in the Montana way when I was there a few weeks ago has started to hit northern Michigan I think. This is the TP shelf in one of our larger grocery stores in town (Meijer's). I took that photo 2 nights ago. I went back today and they only had maybe 6 packs of TP...still mostly empty TP shelves.

I called up the Nosler factory this afternoon and spoke to my contact to find out when they are going to do the next production run of 6.5 140gr Accubonds. The person I spoke to said they were not on the October or November run list. The person said maybe December if they have the materials to run them. They won't know until the first week of December what the run schedule will look like.

I've got maybe 150-200 rounds of those 6.5 142gr Accubond LR's. Can't get a good load worked up with them. I haven't given up yet. I tried numerous powders and seatings. Got a few more to try. The140gr AB's and RL23....very accurate. My .270 likes the ABLR's with H4831sc.

Good stuff Don

I went to buy a couple of things for thanksgiving the other day. All items in stock except for whole berry cranberry sauce. On the way to the ranch I picked up two cans of it at the grocery in Three Rivers They were out of everything else though. :)

Good news is my 200 lbs of FFg powder arrived for this bad boy

Gun season for deer must get 'interesting' in your neighborhood, I take it the big 'uns come out of the swamps?

Keep this going so we can keep everyone informed. No shortages in western PA that I have noticed. Increase in prices but not to the point where I say ouch just yet (except gas)

I have a couple of Butterballs in the freezer that I bought a while back on sale. In balance.....I have seen quite a few turkeys (and fixins') in our local grocery store. I'm thinking any national product shortages may be seasonal related?? After the Thanksgiving there should be a good supply of turkeys at the stores. Sports and hunting related shortages would be the same. Hopefully when the hunting seasons wind down....inventory will come back up. Hopefully the bullets/powder/primer/brass shortage gets corrected too.

I think if the country continues with a climbing/high inflation condition, we will see folks hang on to their money a little tighter. Sales would go down, inventories temporarily increase and suppliers/producers cutting back on production to get rid of current inventory.

JL.........The Meijer store in my town is also out of TP. I asked a long time friend/employee of the store why they were out when the other stores in town were not. He stated that Meijer has plenty of TP at their warehouse just no truck drivers to get it to the stores

Read a few days ago that the US has about 50,000 unfilled truck driving jobs available.

Raining today so I took a drive to the nearest Cabelas, plenty of 223 and 308 ammo, sparse otherwise.

Dan....I'm doing good on powder and primers. I was able to get some backorders in not too long ago. I got an 8lb jug of H4831sc and H1000. Horse traded for some RL23 which I needed. I also went to town when I was recently in Montana. Picked up quite a few primers. I got 24lbs of shotgun powder for a Coastie bud in Florida. Got him 4 or 5 bricks of Chedittes too. Today, I got a hold of the folks at Western Powder in Miles City. I was trying to find out what the deal was with Norma powder.....can't find it. Powder Valley said they will no longer sell it. Western said they got out of the powder business a while back and sold everything to Hodgdon. That included Norma. No luck at Hodgdon either. For me....bullets, specifically Nosler, has been hard to get. I'll be trying the Barnes LRX's in the 6.5 PRC and .270 soon.

Jeff......That's interesting what you were told about Meijer's and they can't get any drivers to deliver TP. I wonder what drivers they are using to deliver the rest of their products they do have? Next time I go back to Meijers I'll check on their TP supply and see what it looks like.

One of my nephews was a OTR cattle hauler for a long time out of Oklahoma. He picked up and delivered all over the midwest. Said it was good money but a lot of odd hours. Livestock hauling has special regs involved due to live animals. He sold out and moved back to Florida where is driving a dump truck for construction projects. He told me he spoke to one of of his former load controllers a few days ago and was told they are paying $9-something per mile now. I'm guessing that is for owner/operators?? He is seriously considering buying another rig to get back into OTR hauling. He still has his contacts in place to pick up where he left off and start running OTR loads. It won't be livestock though....too many nights away from home.

Finally found three gallons of T6 Rotella at an O'REILLY'S. Had to pay $28 more for the same thing I bought 6 months ago. A huge number of shortages going to come to roost soon.

^....funny you mention oil. I was at the local autoparts store yesterday (Advance Auto) and the guy there told me he heard of an upcoming shortage on synthetic motor oil is coming. Not sure how credible it was. I just changed out the oil in both of the F150's....Motorcraft syn blend oil.

I never go to Advanced or Autozone for oil/filters. Walmart has 5qt jugs of Castrol GTX 5W20 for $19. They also stock Toyota OEM oil filters for my Tacoma and are 1/2 the price at the stealership. Full oil change in my 2011 Tacoma for under $30.

I’m considering a move and was gonna drive truck for a while to get reestablished and then go from there… A lot of the big guys are HURTING for drivers big time and paying crazy money. Crazy sign on bonuses and covering your insurance plans and Paid Time Off.

6 week bow season, then shotgun, then muzzle loader. 3 separate seasons for bear running into mid December. This kid (I still think of him that way, he's 30) is one of the best hunters I know, took this one on Dec. 31st a few years back. Don't have a picture if the honker he bow-killed last October. 11 points. No shortage of decent deer up here ;-)

I live in one of the biggest turkey producing areas of the biggest turkey producing state in the nation and I don't see any shortage of turkeys in the turkey barns.

Local Homeland here full of turkeys. Butterballs to cheaper... No shortage of 'turkeys' in D.C., though. We have a national turkey season coming in the early part of November, 2022.
