I was jut wondering if we should be concerned with VP Kamala Harris”s recent comment on Charlamagne Tha God‘s Comedy Central show “Tha God’s Honest Truth” and exactly who are “we”?
Here is her comment:
"Right now we are debating whether democracies actually can survive or is autocracy better - which is basically one person or one group telling everybody what they should do," Harris said of voting rights legislation. "This is what's at stake right now for America. And you can tell I'm a bit frustrated - more than that, actually - that people are making this into a partisan issue instead of stepping up to say save our democracy." VP Kamala Harris
Again, I am wondering who exactly are “we” and are we actually debating the virtues of an autocracy?
Here’s another definition that is at least accepted by Auburn University and I would venture to say that by much of Academia:
“Autocracy is a system of government in which absolute power over a state is concentrated in the hands of one person, whose decisions are subject neither to external legal restraints nor to regularized mechanisms of popular control (except perhaps for the implicit threat of coup d'état or other forms of rebellion).” Paul M. Johnson. "Autocracy: A Glossary of Political Economy Terms". Auburn.edu.
But what we should be concerned about is that not enough Americans have a working knowledge of the Constitution, or more importantly the Declaration of Independence, The enormous ignorance of the documents that define the relationship between the people and the government is astounding. We can never expect to re-establish the original freedoms, or spirit thereof, without a clear understanding of the starting point.
“No people who have lost their character have kept their liberties. Lawrence W. Reed
Every one agrees on terms like voting rights, they just disagree what that means
It's intentional by those in power to keep the partisan division strong
that's not our form of Govt - that's something else
"Perhaps the story of political revolution never exhibited a more general enthusiasm in the cause of liberty, than that which for several years pervaded all ranks in America and brought forward events little expected by the most sanguine spirits in the beginning of the controversy. A contest now pushed with so much bigotry, that the intelligent yeomanry of the country, as well as those educated in the higher walks, became convinced that nothing less than a systematical plan of slavery was designed against them. They viewed the chains as already forged to manacle the unborn millions; and though everyone seemed to dread any new interruption of public tranquility, the impetuosity of some led them into excesses which could not be restrained by those of more cool and discreet deportment. To the most moderate and judicious, it soon became apparent that unless a timely and bold resistance prevented, the colonists must in a few years sink into the same wretched thralldom that marks the miserable Asiatic."
To me it sounds like the situation in today's America.
They were concerned about slavery, but did not address it totally?
My readings on history have me convinced many did not support a revolution, much like today in fact. Convinced folks read and believe what they are already convinced of.
“I get frustrated when someone like a VP and others that should know better talk about our "Democracy". The US government is not now nor has it ever been a democracy. True democracy is 3 wolves and 2 sheep voting on what's for dinner. The US is a Representative Republic.”
I don’t think this is a good analogy because if I change it to 2 wolves and 3 sheep the result is still the same regardless of what the majority voted for.
That said I’m sure many will argue that’s exactly where we’re at…..
Everyone knows that Joebama sat in Reverend Wright’s sermons and that was based on black liberation theology which is based on social justice for African Americans which is the Democrats primary talking point today.
As they say “Inch by inch life is a cinch” and far as I can tell the Dems are following the concept to a T!
This must be her trying to throw bobblehead under the bus, waving the flag if you will. Might be the sign of a massive split.
If Manchin doesn’t support then he is the toad in the road! That’s why some are saying that he needs to go ahead and switch parties.

A dictator could do so many things that a president will never be able to do. So many problems would just disappear with the proper treatment.
I’m only half serious guys, but the other half is deadly serious. I see so much wrong with this country that nothing except harsh punishment will cure. Politicians can’t and won’t deal with it.
WRT this administration and Leftist control.... they left autocracy behind a while ago and are working on fascist dictatorship. Not just ignoring freedoms and rights, established law.... openly contemptuous of it. The very definition of what she is gas lighting about (ok, openly lying about) is the selective application of rights and laws..... or lack thereof. They as elitists get to do the selecting. What she is calling "democracy" (which it is not, to them it's just a focus group buzzword) would be the blind and equal application of constitutional rights and law for ALL. Along with the blind and equal enforcement of it. Their selective application of rights and law is autocracy in it's most underhanded form (especially when cloaked in "democracy" and other false descriptions and lies) and their actions have been the very definition of that. Yet point their fingers, accusing others of exactly what they know they are doing themselves. We all know people like that. I have nothing but contempt left for them, they've destroyed any attempt at empathy or understanding.
People like Heels Up have either zero self awareness, or just comfortable with being lying hypocrites. They railed about Trump and obviously this is where the "autocracy" fingers are pointing. Yet what he did was literally reduce regulations and laws, advance more personal freedom and rights, gave people more power and under less control by their government. Freedom. Constitutional Rights. In the real world, as in actions and results, he was the polar opposite of their own actions. And you can see the results.
In Clown World if you can convince enough clowns not to listen and not look around you, live in fantasy and perception rather than facts and reality...... then you get to stay as leader of the Clowns. For her she's closing in on 8 of 10 people seeing she is full of crap and an incompetent if not evil person.
TD, sounds like Russia, Russia, and Russia!

Like Insider trading, I have been on several major equipment source selection boards and there is no way that I would get away with buying stock with that information as a federal employee.
The guy that sat behind me before I retired sat on a huge contract that Microsoft won and as always a non disclosure agreement or I could have pulled off the same thing that Nancy Pelosi made bank on!
True Dat.
The “problem” with a truly FUNCTIONAL democratic/republican government is that there’s no way for a politician to make enough money off of it to stay in Office.
People who are not absolutely terrified of the Other Party generally don’t contribute too much (also pronounced “a freakin’ DIME”) in the way of campaign funds, so the way to stay in office is to demonize anyone & everyone who disagrees with you in the slightest, even though if you were to sit down and have a conversation with them you would probably agree on about 95% of what was in front of you.
It’s utter bullschitt, And VERY unfortunately, we have LITERALLY bought into it, with not much promised in the way of a way out until there has been some kind of a cataclysmic meltdown.
What was the hallmark of the Greatest Generation? They were all AMERICANS, first. We no longer operate that way here; both sides feed it and feed off of it. Both sides refuse to acknowledge that and both hold the Other responsible and themselves blameless.
It’s bullschitt... and we’re fooked. You would think we could at least all agree on THAT much…
The only way to build generational wealth is investing and you have to know the practice of saving before you can even grasp the concept of investing.
Spending helps the economy but just like your own finances nothing builds a strong economy better than saving and investing!
the 6 leftist tools here should be ashamed, apologetic even
Bill never had sex with that woman, Hillary wasn’t responsible for the Russian dossier, and Trump derangement syndrome is a Republican ailment.
They never ever acknowledged that they wasted taxpayers payers money trying to persecute Trump for their own actions.
They along with the ilk have not ever spoken against critical race theory, white privilege, or the crisis at the border.
They are at best classless and clueless because their elitist mindset does not allow for self reflection.
Democratic Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal said in an interview on Friday that he regretted attending a communist award show last week.
Troubles is the Dem voters will not hold him accountable at the next election!
In a functional society many issues are black and white but in a dysfunctional society everything is in the gray and voters are either unable or unwilling hold politicians to a standard.
Any country that lets men compete equally against women is a prime example of this dysfunction.
Another is when a group (hunters) pays the lions share for conservation yet they must defend themselves constantly even though their activity has been in existence since the very beginning of man.

Cyber ninjas, cyber ninjas, stop the steal, adrenochrome, QAnon idiot
Ultimately in the hands of "We The People". But not the sheeple.
I believe there is a distinction between a politician and a statesman. The politician works for himself and the statesman works for the people. Most of the founders were statesmen.
Many post on this thread to express the frustration, anger and hopelessness the situation seems to present. If you consider the same ills that faced the founders you will see they went about living the changes that would alter their situation. Great personal cost was made by many people, some of whom swore to each other their lives, fortune and sacred honor. What is your patriotic duty in today's world? If it is only whinning and complaining you are indeed hopeless. There is a Constitutional plan afoot to change the Federal government, and if you are interested in learning what you can do, send me a private message.
What a focking idiot!
