2021 review in pics
2021 turned out to be a year that will be tough to ever top. Some of these pics have been shared on bowsite earlier in the year, but there are quite a few that will be making their bowsite debut.
2021 started with using my last tag of 20/21 season during the PA late season.
Trapping season was interrupted by unusually deep snow for our area. We managed a bobcat and couple small critters during the shortened season.
Mid January was time for our 11th annual family and friends pig hunt. Our group killed a bunch of pigs with various weapons and had a great time.
Got to hang out with this guy for a couple days
Picked up some taxidermy from the previous year
Trophy hog pics are serious business
In February the opportunity for a short notice mountain lion hunt came up. With the timing working around a school break, we were headed to WY with Cody set to be the shooter.
Mountain lion practice range
We didn't end up treeing a big tom during the hunt. We did a catch and release on this female. We experienced a successful lion hunt only minus the trophy fee and taxidermy bill...this hunt is too be continued, we will be going back
Summer family vacation with a little beach fishing
It was practically jaws...
Hurry up and get to the good stuff. This non-shooting lions hunt ain’t gonna cut it!!!!
I'd like to hang out with him too.
How do you know him?
Relax JT...it's all part of the experience "Clark"...more pics inbound
We only know Tim Wells through a mutual friend, he just happened to stop in for a couple days while traveling to his next hunt.
Keep it coming, Gene! Pay no attention to that impatient hippie dude….
Great pictures... please keep them flowing.
Early summer I made time to work on one of my "someday" projects. Setting up an old jon boat for bowfishing. I had never done any boat work, so after 15 minutes searching the subject online I was qualified as an expert boat builder...a deck and a long tail mud motor and the fish hunting was ready to begin.
Great job on the deck build.
Mid summer we were able to hook up with Eric aka bowjangles for some big game bowfishing.
You've had a heck of a year up to this point Gene and I know there's some dandy's coming up yet
Mid August we added to our hunting family with a Black and Tan coon hound named Walker.
He has grown fast and seems to know what he is built to do, but has a lot of learning ahead of him
Not sure who snuck in there and did that?
Mid August I headed to AK for a dall sheep hunt. The story and pics are in the thread link here.
Nick volunteered to go to where the caribou was to put the official tape on it. 401" gross 381" net, awards level Booner.
Late summer and early fall we did a couple local trail races, Cody was in the middle of high school cross country and I try my best to stay in shape year around. We even brought home some hardwear.
Late September I headed to Alberta for a Shiras moose hunt. This story and pics are at this link.
Back from Alberta it was time for PA and NY bow season. With a busy November ahead of me, I decided that I wasn't going to be picky on deer at home. During the season, Cody had some close calls with bucks but only managed to tag a doe.
Early November, I went to Mexico. This trip was originally going to happen in 2022, but because of the Covid shuffle of hunting trips it was moved to '21
Was an incredible once in a lifetime trip.
After returning from Mexico it was a short turn around and we were in the pickup heading to AZ. I had been getting Cody elk points since he was 9. We put in for a late rifle hunt in one of the lower elk density, rough terrain units and he drew one of the few tags available to nonresident. One of his friends with very little hunting experience went with us on the trip. Apparently they both use the same barber that Treeman does...
Full circle back to PA late season 21/22
