So what exactly are the dems complaining about is it the requirement of id & if so please explain to me how anyone qualified to vote in this country can function in society without a proper ID.
Furthermore there seems to be a racial injustice argument of some kind again ???
Are certain ethnic groups supposed to be exempt from providing an ID to vote
I'm not educated on this matter so please explain.
And try to be civil about it.......
So they contend it’s a round about way of voter suppression. And they then spin into a racial issue. That only minorities live in poverty.
Others say if someone is house bound and can’t get out to get an ID while buying food, cigarettes and booze. An ID can be provided. Or a ride to help them get an appropriate ID.
Basically, One party thinks minorities are too stupid or lazy to get IDs and the other believes all people are equal and can figure out how to get an ID if they want one.
But if I understand the civil rights folks correctly. Their saying that because of inequality a certain percentage of lower class individuals should be given or allowed exceptions to the standards that all others are held to.
Well isn't that in itself some form of reverse discrimination by setting a different standard for a minority.
How can one be equal if not treated equally.
And we all know that good white Christians don't drink or smoke, hey?
"One party thinks minorities are too stupid or lazy to get IDs..."
One party is betting their entire future on that. Dangerous, because the other party can just make it easier to get an ID. Then what?
Here's my issue - the same people who used to object to a 'national ID' are now pushing for one. It used to be illegal to use the 'Social Security' number and card for ID purposes, now we're insisting on it? (Or the equivalent - will I need *two* national ID's?)
Anybody who thinks just getting a *state* ID nowadays is easy hasn't renewed their drivers license lately. And that's JUST the state license, not the one with the special code that will let you get on a plane to travel. Bring more documents. Your papers, comrade! This country has gotten way too fascist since 9/11/2001...
It almost seems like they don’t care about the arduous process that a State ID entails when it comes to all of these activities... and as you mentioned, travel.
Seems a touch hypocritical.
For the record, I do believe that voter ID is a *good* idea, just not when *federally* controlled.
That's called "affirmative action" and was written into the federal government by executive order by several Presidents. http://civilrightsmovement.blogs.wm.edu/category/beginnings-of-affirmative-action/ At that time legal equality was being sought by Presidents. However, Supreme Court Justice Harlan, the lone dissenter on the Supreme Court case that found Jim Crows to be Constitutional(1896), stated that the Constitution is color blind. The courts made a wrong and bad decision and our country lived with the disgrace for 58yrs.
"Furthermore there seems to be a racial injustice argument of some kind again ???"
In 1954 in the Brown vs. Board of Education Supreme Court case, Jim Crow laws were overturned as un-Constitutional. Legal equality was acchieved, however, there was a shift in the goalposts of the progressive use of race. The focus on equality was declared to be not enough and "equity" became the new goal. The difference between equality and equity goes this way. Equality means that there is equality of opportunity and equity means equal outcome/lifestyle. Personal rights and effort are not the matters that make the difference in progressive society, but rather, the edicts of government.
Equality is when you accept other people who differ from you without bias and equity is when you don't possess anything that is not common to everybody else, whether it is possessions or rights.
As I see it, some of the people involved in the movement to acchieve equality were put out of work when the legal goal was reached, and that was too much for them to bear. Instead the movement, as I said, shifted the goalposts and used the same arguments claiming that what was on paper did not translate to fact. However, equality of outcome is not a principle sought for in society, unless that society is of a socialist nature. The pilgrims first tried socialism and when it failed, they quickly switched to private ownership of property and the outcome of personal efforts, which has enriched Americans since then.
Democrats know the ID complaint is bogus, but if you repeat a lie long enough, some people will believe it, an old nazi(socialist) tactic.
Absolutely,
The Supreme Court decided a case in 1978, Bakke vs. Regents of the University of California, that appears much the same as the 1897 case upholding Jim Crow laws. The medical student won his case, but the court twisted wording to allow the discrimination to continue as it does to this day.
Equality of persons has been legally established in America, it's just that some people want more equality than others.
Understatement of the day.
I never 'waffled', I simply refused to tell you. I know that pisses some of you off, but so what? My business, my privacy, my right.
It’s easy to determine which one will gain the most from this legislative act so thanks for undermining your own comment! "
I see that BOTH parties think it will work in THEIR favor, and trust neither.
I'm for it but not for that reason - it keeps known, convicted *criminals* from legally purchasing guns and ammo. (And yes, I know there's an underground market, yadda yadda.) I've written *against* 'Saturday night special' laws that keep low-income people from owning affrdable guns.
" Voting Is the single greatest freedom that an American enjoys where an individual can actually participate into the selection of government officials and you sir would provide a gateway for its abuse! "
I'm against providing a gateway for federal infringement in States rights. If you don't trust YOUR state, fix that!
Think about this - if we have federal laws, determined by Congress, WHICH STATES will dominate that process? It won't be Wyoming! It will be CA, NY, MA, IL etc . - all the highest population states.
That "mob rule" only applies to the House of Representatives, states have equal representation in the Senate, per the Constitution. Another reason why the Electoral College is so important to fair national elections.
I wish we had an Electoral College in our state elections here in Connecticut. The majority of towns in Connecticut are Republican, but the large cities swing, sway and swindle the election outcomes. To this day there is a bag of votes in Bridgeport waiting to be produced if the election is too close for the Democrats.
"I still say that you’re a bitter old man who..."
You heard the one about the retired guy who's interviewing for a job? The HR guy interviewing him asks what he thinks his biggest weakness is. The old guy says, 'My honesty.' The HR guy says, 'I don't think honesty is a weakness.' The old guy looks him in the eye and says, 'Kid, I don't give a damn what you think.'
My hero ;-)

I disagree. After 9/11, the Real ID Act was passed and requires you to prove who you are and where you live 1 time...That's 1 time. Hardly difficult, different maybe. A couple pieces of mail, birth certificate, SS card...you know, stuff everyone should have...it takes about 20 minutes to issue this first Real-ID card, after that renewals take about 10 minutes including photo...
I'm sure people think it's a pain that first time because they need to gather the documents...but difficult, nope.
LMAO, kid, you know way LESS about me than YOU can imagine.
Another leftist lie. Ccording to the new law you're referencing, partisan campaign workers can't give gifts to people standing in line, and that includes Big Macs, donuts, Gatorade, and yes, bottled water. But any ordinary citizen can provide water to people standing in line.
This isnt about racism or discrimination. Its about power and not losing it.
Screaming racism is an easy way to win an argument these days. Anyone who disagrees is racist. See? Its simple. That is all.
I suspect that anyone who would be swayed into voting for X based on a 10 cent bottle of water is probably not going to stand in a long line to vote. You stand in line for hours because you are already good and determined to vote for whoever.
Starting Saturday Washington DC residents need ID to get in any business. So how do they square that?
I sure wish he would bring back the political forum!!!!
No one on the right is bitching about not having to vote on election date. That is not the point. Mailing out mass ballots like junk mail is the issue. Nothing stopping some one from gathering them up and filling in Biden or Trump. That is the issue. If you can't or don't want to vote in person requesting a absentee ballot with a few checks and balances is more than reasonable.
Vote is a right that putting out slight effort for should be expected. 1) show up on election day and vote or 2) request a absentee ballot that requires a little proof to show you are who you say you are but still not onerous.
I live in the 2nd poorest county in va. The abuse of the welfare system in my area is unbelievable. Living in government housing driving a Lincoln. In line every Tues & Thurs at the food bank to get that free hunters for the hungry Deer burger that the tax payers pay $50.00 a deer to have processed. And using inequality as an excuse for laziness.
Don't get me wrong there are folks here that truly need the welfare services & im 100 percent for that. I donate deer to my local church that cooks meals for the needy.
But have no patients for the able folks abusing the system.
Lucky you. I've been hunting & fishing in CO since 1973. I've been checked in the field since then only 5 or 6 times.
You're from CO so you know our voting works great. Once you prove who you are and request it, they send you a mail in ballot that you can either mail in, drop off, or ignore and vote in person. We use to mail them in, but since Trump's unqualified crony appointment to Postmaster General who tried to cripple the mail, we drop them off. I don't know what every other state does, but in CO voting is secure, accessible, and convenient.
"I wish we would return to the standards of voting the Founders originally adopted."
azelkhntr, We've come a long way from only allowing white, male, property owners to vote. You do know the definition of "real property"?
That is a more dumb than the crap the lefties post on here. Please shut up. That is come from a right winger.
BUT.... if somebody gets a false hunting license to hunt with.... it doesn't INVALIDATE mine like an illegal vote would for someone. Or say a suitcase full of them......
IDs with the "star" on them are required to fly coming this year if I recall. Those are "confirmed" IDs that require birth cert, passport, etc. sometimes 4 forms including utility bills and such. Got mine already.... but THAT'S an ID mate......
"Normal" state IDs are easy and I believe all that is needed. IDs should be required as well as signatures that can be verified. Should be able to go back and look at all votes and be able VERIFY exactly who it was that placed the vote and that it was legal for them to do so. If not..... go away. Note that is not seeing WHO they voted for as that is illegal and should always be so.
Can't give out bottles of water to those dropping dead in line..... BS. Yes they can. The polling place themselves can have water on hand and issue it to anyone who wants it. By those officials vetted and registered by law. Not some clown with a D or an R on their shirt handing out politically branded goodies.
But you all know this has nothing to do with making it easier to vote nor depriving anyone of the ability to vote. (much less making them die in line.) It's plenty easy to do right now. If it's too hard then like everything else "too hard".... don't do it. Hate to imposition you to carry out your right. Rights are like muscles and brain cells.... they have to be exercised to make full use of them.
This is 100% about making it easier to cheat. 100% about allowing non-citizens and others not legally qualified to vote. You know, like actually being alive to vote. And voting ONLY ONCE in the only county/district/state you are qualified to do so. Not allowing others to fill out your ballot they just pulled out of their azzes for a six pack of beer or pack of smokes. Only vetted and qualified people to handle votes in a certified, verified under penalty of law chain of custody. Not out of the trunks of somebody who could be anybody's car. Or coolers in wagons out of vans. Or counted with no witness behind cardboarded up windows. Official registered observers denied access. The list goes on. With voting and with counting votes.... if it even LOOKS bad it IS bad.
You know, simple, open, verifiable honest things to prevent evil dishonest things from happening, to facilitate catching those who do. And burning those POS caught doing dishonest things into dark spots on the ground.
The issue wasn't becuase people were handing out water to those in line, it came up because the campaign workers were handing out 10 cent bottles of water with the normal labels replaced with one that had their candidates name on it. Basically, they were handing out campaign material in violation of the rules/laws related to electioneering, a detail those complaining about the new law conveniently overlook.
Which is great to know, because Biden said if you are vaccinated, you can't get the virus. Which means all this news reporting about vaccinated people getting COVID is nonsense. Can't be happening
The aim is to create a standardized baseline for access to voting across all states. Baseline. It includes min 2 weeks early voting for any municipality/town with >3000K residents including PM's and weekends and over at least 10hrs a day.
It permits people to vote by mail or to drop the ballot at drop box or polling place, while gauranteeing those votes will be counted if posted on or before election day and arrive within 7days of election day.
It makes election day a national holiday so we can all go vote smoothly.
It creates uniform standards for voter ID's in the states requiring them.
It makes it a federal crime to lie in order to lower the odds or make it harder for people to vote - for example putting up sham signs/fliers which would lead someone to try and vote in the wrong place or day, thus missing their right to vote. It also increases the penalties for voter intimidation.
It restores federal voting rights for people who have don jail time - making for a uniform approach vs the current this and that of different approaches around the country.
Requires states to guarantee that the max wait to vote would be 30'
through using pre-existing measures in place within many states, it creates standardized voter registration. Automatic voter reg via DMV's, permits same day registration, online registration and requires states to notify people if their names were removed from the polls during a purge and provides instructions so they can get it corrected and not miss an election.
Bans partisan gerrymandering.
Requires any group/person who spends more than 10K in an election to show all of its major donors to help clean up dark money in politics.
Makes it harder for PAC's to coordinate with candidates, and requires any advertisements to ID who is paying (IE, an ad isnt "Citizens for Superman" it's "Paid for by Proctor and Gambel, 3M, Koch Bros, Berkshire Hathaway etc")
Increases the ability of the Federal Elections Commission to ensure candidates run elections legally.
Protects local election officials from intimidation/threat or from being fired for partisan purposes (because they are non-partisan - for example, R dominated election officials who rightly executed elections in fall of 2020 in many places have been intimidated and pushed out in favor of hyperpartisan systems and replacements - that would not be legal)
It prohibits voting machines that do NOT have a paper record.
The JLVRA has a few other issues. It was voted in - often by R's and D's still in the senate/house today - for decades. In the 20teens the SCOTUS decided a formula used to ID states which needed to have any voting access rule changed assessed by the DOJ was no longer calibrated correctly, thus the law was gutted. It's update would basically adjust that so the formula was calibrated to today, and that any state which had issues requiring DOJ review of voter access changes could see that mandated review eliminated after 10years without issue (breaking of laws by the state).
And....WHO will enforce that, the FBI? The FEC? The DNC? Oh wait...the CDC? LMAO!!!
That one was spot on.
"IMO elections for Federal Offices should be abolished." - I do not agree.
During the Confederation Period, before there was a Federal Government, the country was in trouble because states had issues with each other and within their own borders that needed an agreement between all the states to compromise and work together. Therefore the states delegated a constitutional convention to hammer out a form of government agreeable to all states. What came out of that convention was todays Constitution. The document contained promise for the future and stability in their own time. The ratification of the Constitution produced the "Federalist Papers", which you may have heard of, as the people endorsing the Constitution wrote to the common citizens of all the states in an attempt to make clear the meaning of the document to all. Not all writings were Federalist, some were Anti-Federalist and pointed out what they thought were faults in the document. One fault most often stated was a lack of enumerated rights of the people, later to become known as a "Bill of Rights". The Federalists admitted that as a valid point and there were promises to include such a bill as amendments once the Constitution was ratified. One year after the formation of the Federal Government under the Constitution, ten of the twelve "Bill of Rights" passed by the Congress were ratified.
The corruption you complain of is a result of a slow turning away from the original intent of the Constitution. In incremental steps politicians , not statesmen, have manipulated their office for personal enrichment rather than the business of the people. "We The People" have allowed this to happen because of our choices in who we elect to office even at the local levels. The morality of people today has degraded and it is reflected in the leadership in politics. The constraints of the Constitution have been eroded over time to the point where the Federal Government is in the position of a tyrant.
'No people that have lost their character, kept their liberty."- Lawrence W. Reed
This was foreseen by the writers of the Constitution. In fact, it was pointed out to them at the moment they thought they were finished and about to sign the document. It was at that instant that George Mason of Virginia stood and asked if they were all so naive to believe that a tryanical government would right itself to favor the people? They were all dumbstruck and silent after months of debating every word they had cobbled together. They had made no provision for the people to amend the Constitution, only the Federal legislators. Statesman Elbridge Gerry stood and proposed that wording be added to Article V that would allow the people to muster their state legislatures to pass a resolution calling for a convention of states. Once two thirds of the states passed a commonly worded resolution, under the Constitution, a convention of states would be held for the purpose of producing proposed amentments based on the items of business in the resolution. Today that would require 34 states. When the amendments are passed by the convention they are then sent to all the states for ratification. Those amendments would only become law when three quarters of the states accepted them. Today that would be 38 states.
Today there is a Convention of States Project underway. Fifteen states have already passed a commonly worded resolution and last year twenty six states have considered the same resolution before both or one remaining house of their state legislatures. There are five million supporters and they can be found in all fifty states. For the last two years covid has hindered the message of the organization, but once the crisis is past, there are many American patriots hungry for a means to right the country.
The resolution being offered by the Convention of States Project calls for term limits for Federal employees, not just elected offices, a reduction of excessive Federal spending and perhaps a balanced budget and a constraint on the overreach of Federal authority, which has been accomplished by agreements between two or all three of the branches of government, despite the plain language of the Constitution.
I am a volunteer. I believe I can do much more than simply vote and grumble. Since I learned that the founders provided a means for WE/me the people to turn the direction of our country from chaos/socialism to a restoration of Contitutional order, I am getting busy about doing what I can. What you can do at the VERY LEAST is to visit the Convention of States website and sign the petition. And should you go there, be sure to go to the bottom of the page and you will find a menu item is small print that says "COS University", click on it and view the free videos there.

How do you intend to operate a republic without representatives?
The existing choice of candidate procedure is a principle from the scriptures. That is the people choosing their leaders with a knowledge of them, not a lottery. Deuteronomy 1: 13-18
"All must first swear and sign allegiance to the US Constitution. " That is already done per Article VI of the Constitution. Why didn't you know that?
"And that's how you get the stench of money out of the Federal Gov't." Hardly. Winning the office by lottery will be like winning a monetary prize, and all the spenders will come to you.
Party politics are ideas on the directions government should take. Should a Federal office holder take on policy and positions which any party agrees with, the accusation of collusion is inevitable. If parties exist on a state level, all people will fall somewhere in the spectrum and then hold a Federal office without bias? I think not. Little Israel has a coalition of parties in a seventy seat assembly. Votes come to those parties from all over the country and are not regional in nature. The seats are assigned to the parties by percentages of votes they recieve from the general population.
The Senate should return to office holders being selected by the state legislators as it was in the original Constitution. Repeal Amendment XVII.
Aside from your ideas of restructuring the government and some yada, yada, yada about your personal matters, I could be persuaded to vote for you. Maybe a bottle of water for me as I stand in the hot sun waiting to vote and the label is actually a gospel tract. :)
The current US system in the last election opens the door to corruption. We literally have become a 3rd world country.
The folks getting propaganda from CNN are not hearing the facts.
Look at audits in Georgia and Arizona- its criminal. Heres some facts from Voterga.org
The U.S. District Court found on Oct 11th, 2020 the Dominion Voting System that was used in the November 2020 election is unverifiable to the voter and in violation of two Georgia statues
There are six sworn affidavits of counterfeit mail-in ballots in Fulton Co. election results scaling into the tens of thousands
State Farm Arena video shows at least four violations of Georgia election law Approximately 43,000 DeKalb Co. drop box ballots have no chain of custody forms to authenticate them
Tru-Vote Geo tracking showed evidence of ballot harvesting teams driving repeatedly to drop boxes in Fulton and Dekalb
All 350,000+ original in-person ballot images in Fulton are missing in violation of federal, state retention law
All 393,000+ original ballot images in Cobb are missing in violation of federal, state retention law
At least 17,720 certified in person recount votes have no ballot images in Fulton 18,325 voters had vacant residential addresses according to U.S. Post Office
904 voters were registered at a P.O. Box address which is illegal
All or large parts of 2,000,000 original ballot images from 70+ Georgia counties are missing
Failure to make mandatory check of ballot envelope signature to signature on file resulted in absentee ballot rejection rate drop from 3.47% to .34% allowing about 4,400 extra dubious ballots to be counted
The U.S. District Court found Secretary of State’s office “not credible” on August 16th, 2019 [pg70]
A report compiled by Matt Braynard and his team at Look Ahead America provided specific, verifiable evidence that likely illegal ballots exceed the margin of victory in the Presidential race
Statistical abnormalities identified in many GA counties by former Army Intelligence Captain, Seth Keschel show that it is implausible that the election results are correct
THEN, go read the affidavits detailing corruption….the system the Democrats are pushing makes it easier to cheat.
.
Talleys from different precincts that have zero for Trump and every single vote for Biden. Thousands of ballots disappeared. Nothing suspicious there, eh.
Heres a simple concept; Make the voting a buying a gun rules the same.
( That common sense comment would have been cancelled on the woke moderated Rokslide)
Sidney Powell is tenacious and still America's best person to present to the courts the facts on voter fraud and election corruption.
