We are in Sedan for 10 days. We will leave today when the boy gets out of school. First hunt will be friday pm or sat. Am.
Tons of deer down that way..you guys will be hitting it right on..keep us posted Forest..good luck and best wishes..
Hope there is some "gold" in the midwest. Good luck guys.
So did Jake get off Kodiak and get headed to Kansas?
Have a great hunt down there. I will be headed out at lunch to a spot about 120 miles NW of your location. Am currently 75 miles from you and clouds are rolling in hard. Should be good out with the front coming in.
NEW TO BOWSITE, WOULD LIKE TO SAY HELLO FROM YES PENNSYLVANIA AND WILL BE YUNIN IN TO SEE WHATS UP, AND DOWN ON THE GROUND. GOOD LUCK!!
Pins and needles here. Dreaming of the Kansas prarie and rut crazed bucks. Good luck Pat!
Good luck Pat, looks like you guys hit the weather and rut right this year! I hunted about 10-15 mi east of where you are last week, it was still pretty warm and the bucks were just starting to nose a few of the does around.
Have a great hunt, I can't wait for the updates, pics, and video's!
Dang Pat it seems there was something I was suppose to give you a hard time about?? Hmmm?? what was that...?? It`ll come to me. he he he...once this weather breaks it`s going to be a great week weather wise..can`t really ask for better
Pat, Oakie would NEVER leave us with a cliffhanger like that. Shame on you! j/k hope you had a successful day 1 hunt
You bunch of losers need to learn from Oakie, hahaha! Mike
You guys are gonna get me burned! =)
Good luck Pat. I think your timing is PERFECT!
I've been driving around Northwest Oklahoma all week with my job and think that with the rain that started today and the cool temps that are in the forcast make for a great week to be Buck hunting in northwest Oklahoma/southwest Kansas this weekend and next week. Good luck Pat.
Looks like things are off to a good start!! Good luck Pat!!!!!
its 408am and I am leaving for the airport in 30 mins, will be in SE KS for 10 glorious days, good luck Pat.
I saw 7 different bucks last night..noses to the ground running all over the place...5 days off starting tomorrow..I think this rain is already past where Pat is hunting..could be snow working his way..shoot`m up
CRO is in the process of redoing their website. Its not back up yet.
My bowcase made it to Kansas, but none of my hunting gear has. Waiting for baggage claim in Alaska to open before I decide what to do. Sure do not want to miss the evening hunt...regardless of the weather. Currently caught between a rock and a hard place.
Medicineman---wear Pat`s clothes for Gawd`s sake...ya got your bow and release?? What else ya need brutha..
Travis, Pat and I are somewhat different in morphology. Worst case scenario is a trip to Gander Mt. I need safety harness, license, and other stuff too. I can even hunt in street clothes as long as I sit still... but the raingear sure would be nice, although getting cold or wet is a non-issue for me.
Jake--yea I know Pat is a little bit bigger than you..he he he...What a mess. I hope you can get it cleared up quick...
ERA airlines is a local flight service for AlAska. None of the airlines that service Witchita have a contract with ERA. Therefore getting the bag delivered is probably not an option. I may have to buy gear, and pick up the bag on my way home. Honestly, I can't complain. This is my first or second baggage snafu ever
Medicine Man. Steve wanted me to tell you to buy a couple of sticks of camo face paint and paint your body and hunt in your underwear. Best of luck to you and Pat and whoever else is hunting with you. Cassman
Pat, The bag is not in Anchorage and it is not in Seattle. So there is a 50 percent chance that the bag is in Houston, and about a 50 percent chance that the bag may arrive on the 4:07 flight to witchita. I am going to wait for the 4 PM flight...if it is there, I'll be on my way as soon as I can get my hands on the bag. If it is not there, I'll buy some cheap stuff at Gander Mt and hit the road. The local carriers have no contract with ERA, so there is no obligation for them to deliver it when it DOES arrive. I wonder what that would cost?
Jake, use that &200 gift card and go get some clothes or do you want me to send you that 1-800 again---- it's on--make us proud men
Got my gear, made it to camp, and have the alarm set for 0445. Saturday will NOT be a good day to be buck in SW Kansas!!!!!
I need to see a pic of Jake wearin' Pat's clothes.
Lil Abner... Incredible Hulk.... Medicineman
0615 and we are in the tree.Ten MPH wind FM the NW and high 30s. A great day to be hunting!
It is only 0715 and I have had three tens and an eight within range! Fingers are not working well, so I will explain later why I passed.
go get em jake! Awesome for you that your stuff arrived.......that could have gone in a totally different direction!
By 0915 I had seen eight bucks and two does. The smallest buck has been a seven point with good mass.Action has slowed over the last hour. One of the tens that I passed on was really heavy, with good brow tines....but it was narrow and the G-4s seemed a little on the small side.....but man, it sure had good mass. It must be a 240 pound buck....good sized body. The other ten point that had me wondering was actually the dominant buck. It is much smaller in body than the 10 point previously mentioned, but the other 10 pt. is submissive when this guy is around. He is actually an 11 point with a 20 inch spread, but the G-5 on the left antler is only about 1 inch long. His left G-2 is broken off at the base or I would have tried for him.
Sorry about the multiple posts. I did not think that the post had been sent, so I kept resending.
Tranny Doe, now that's funny, don't care who you are!
Pat any shooters? all day sit?
Way to go, Jake! That didn't take long.
great job jake we'll be anxious to see the pictures.
the golden horseshoe strikes again....
i need to get some sleep. think you could go ahead and upload the pics? 8-)
Congratulations Jake! Looking forward to the pictures and reading of the story. I'm glad you were able to get that trigger finger to work.
Congratulations Jake!
That's awesome!
Don.
Nice, congrats Jake...To dark for pictures? Phoooie, never to dark! LoL!!!
I am hoping that the local library is open on Sunday. It will be easier to type the details with a keyboard rather than my thumbs...LOL
U made us proud Jake--congrats
cool beans Jake.....seems like the golden horse shoe lives on!!
I had to rewire myself to hunt Kansas. I took a 21 inch 8 point in NY earlier this Fall and was really pleased. In Kansas, I would have passed on that same buck. There is such a difference in size AND numbers of bucks.
What is this with all the suspense Pat, you think your writing a damn thriller or what. Give up the details!!
Way to go Jake
Oh great. Don't tell me Pat found a bag of C'mere Deer...
I can promise you this....Pat's "secret weapon" is worth revisiting the feature hunt for....You're gonna laugh your butt off....but it came at a price.
I took some photos of my buck this morning. Pat will probably post a photo when he concludes his evening hunt. I would guess that the buck will gross around 150 inches. It was the same buck that I passed on earlier in the day. I just really liked his mass....width of rack be damned. Sometimes I seem to favor tine length, other times it is rack width, and today it was antler mass.....maybe someday I will find a buck that has all three and I don't try to talk myself out of shooting him. The downfall of being fickle.....
Nick,
I only hunted for one day, but I posted a few times during the day. I think that the mobile feature has "spoiled" some guys....LOL.
I THINK THE SECRET WEAPON IS hunting in Kansas in the peak of the rut each year. That sounds like a key strategy!
Ok, it's been daylight for hours, where's the pictures? ;-)
ummm...they guys are out hunting??!!!
way to go Jake--been looking forward to your post. need to see that pic!
Jake, you didn't waste anytime letting the string go! Congrats!
Pat, did you shoot that buck you called in with your secret weapon?
I think it was an Elknuts bugle with a grunt call stuck in the end. Call it a gruntle tube. Paul will be proud.
Ok Pat, you drew on him but did you drop the string????
MORE details! pics? Something?
Good stuff Pat life is short gotta have fun.I would love to be around you sipping on some of Tennessee's finest.Take care
Guys this is going to go down into the Bowsite hall of fame for live hunts!
We Have Girlfights, Tranny Does and a Barruck!! What next.
Hey Pat if you have a doe tag you could use the Barruck to pull in the Tranny Doe!! They would be a perfect couple.
Be sure to keep him on your left though. lol keep it up.
Awesome buck Jake!
WOW, nice buck, Jake! Congrats!
Pat- LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Drew on a 190"?! I'd be shaking too................right out of that tree! ;-)
Awesome buck Jake, Congratulations! The mass on that guy is incredible.
Pat when I read you drew on a 190", I started to shake too! When's the afternoon hunt start?
Jake, pull that thing out of is hiding place and distribute it amongst the others.
Jakes pic is up on the Live hunt at the end of 11/13.
Great buck Jake, congrats!
Great buck Jake, congrats!
Congrats Jake! Great buck.
Very nice buck Jake! Congrats.
Now that's a nice buck Jake. Congrats!!
Nice buck Jake. The heavy gnarly bases give him character. Congrats
Great buck Jake. What does it score? bill
Great looking buck Jake--congrats
LMAO at Barruck the Blacktail decoy.
he he he he he he he he he.
Big Bucks are hard to come by! Patience and persistence will lead you to a "big un" making a mistake. Good luck Pat and Congrats to Jake! C
Pat- Just curious if you wear scent loc or scent blocker clothing. With that and scent killer soap and storing everything in scent tight containers I havent been winded in years. Good luck on your hunt, i know it can be frustrating.
Pat, your hunt reports will have CRO booked for the next 5 years. :)
Jake, that was a heck of a buck. Congratulations.
Well, last day....how's the hunt goin? We need updates??
Unusally quiet today Pat! Hmmmm!
Jake---Congrats on the awesome buck man..I haven`t been on the bowsite since friday. Been living in the tree stand..That`s a dandy!!!!!!!!!
hmmm... gettin' kinda late, ain't it. Pat must have filled the Obama mask full of "secret weapon" today and set it in front of his stand after all.
Hope he got that monster he saw!
Geez, Jake, nothing like getting it done quickly!
Great buck, my friend!
the monster 12 falls on an extra day. he is expecting you to be flying out and when he comes by your stand he'll be unpleasantly surprised your travel plans changed good luck pat
and if it does not happen..........there is always a december return...............
Did the Big 12 come to bait?
GG
GG - My understanding was that the big 12's bait was a hot doe? The story seemed to imply that a doe led the big 12 and another good buck past the stand.
Pat, I'm proud of you for letting that deer go. You can't shoot a 190 if you are on your way home with a 150!
So you stayed an extra day?? Atta boy! Get a good one!! C
Congratulations!!! Look forward to the pics and/or video.
Good Job. Can't wait to see the video.
Jake congrats on a beautiful Buck now waiting to see Pats! Great job guys!
The beat goes on! Congrats now to both of you!!
Way to go Pat, cant wait to hear the story and see the pics.

Pat you're a Bum but a good one. Congratulations on another fine hunting adventure and to letting us come along on the hunt. Mike
Congrats on getting the job done. Looking forward to the pics.
Congrats. Hope he is the "beeg" one.
Congratulations, Pat. You're having a great year!
glad you stayed an extra day!
I thinks that's 100% kill--congrats Pat
Congratulations on that nice buck...I'm stuck out here on a drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico and the RUT is on in Kansas.. I nearly quit this job over missing the RUT....LOL Your live hunt is helping me make it thru..
Jake and Pat,
Congratulations! Beautiful specimens.
Pat, you stayed an extra day and passed on some animals I could not have. You earned him fair and square. Good job and thanks for spending some of your bucks on our bucks. Both are hard earned, eh?
Best wishes.
Good looking deer, Pat. Thanks for taking us along~GQ
What a great hunt to follow...Thanks.....You are so spoiled to be able to pass on bucks that would make most grown men cr**m their jeans over!!
you say he's not a book buck but it sure looks like one to me
i think he means boone and crocket book not pope and young
Congrats on your hunt! All that mass and tine length is impressive. You got a monster plus the classic story of letting one bigger get away. :^)
Great buck Pat. Thanks for recounting another Kansas classic.
I enjoy reading all of your hunts. Congrats great buck. JPS
So, is this still Cimmaron River Outfitters?
Congrats on a great buck. That place looks awesome. Look forward to hunting Kansas one of these years.
