North American Archery Deer Slam

Just wondering how many guys have archery deer slams of North America (Blacktail, Sitka, Whitetail, Coues' and Mule)...I know Columbian whitetail are out there, but I'm not including them on this.
There are roughly 20 guys who have completed the archery Super Slam. Just wondering how many other guys have taken all 5 deer species with a bow.
Feel free to list anyone you know has completed it that is not one of the 20 Super Slammers...including yourself. Congrats to anyone who has!
Zackman: I have recently researched the P&Y Club Record Book (CD) and there are currently only 9 guys that have all five species, have them larger than P&Y minimum and have them all entered in the P&Y Book.
I am sure there are many more guys that have all five species but some under minimum and some never entered.
The one guy that I personally know that has all six (including the Columbian Whitetail), all (5) of which are well over P&Y Club mimnimum but not entered (YET) is "Oregoncritter" Jody Cyr! C
I have plans to hunt the three I have remaining next season. I can't wait! I'm sure there are not too many that have done it but whomever has, it's quite the accomplishment!
Good luck on your quest!
Charlie,
Thanks for the info! That's not very many guys. Goes to show the difficulty with the task.
I finished my slam in 2010, but have only 3 of the species that qualify for P&Y.
From my experience, Whitetail and Mule deer are the most difficult.
Blacktail Bob is one of the 9 that has all five, over P&Y minimum and entered!
I have arrowed all 5 species (finished in 1992 if I remember right)although only 4 species that are in P&Y. Still need to try to get a P&Y Blacktail. Good thing to work on when I retire again! We have them in BC but not where I live. Too much work, too little time!
Bill Krenz wrote a good story or two on bowhunting for a deer slam. He was one of the first to accomplish it as I remember.
I did it in one year. But only one of them made the book. I only have three of them that makes P&Y. Need a bigger Blacktail and a Mule deer.
I just complted mine this year, only two made P&Y but all mine were still in velvet.
I've done it twice with at least one of each entered into book.
I finished mine back in 2006. The only deer I haven't got that makes P&Y minimum is my sitka blacktail. I'm going back this year and see if I can get one that will make book. Now if they ever add the Columbia Whitetail from Oregon I'll be one short.
Here is mine........I will admit though, they are not all archery kills. I have the Columbian Blacktail left to complete the 2nd Deer Slam.
OFFHNTN
Charlie,
Are there any women who have all five in the book? My wife has P&Y Whitetail, Mule deer and Coues. I think I have a place she can go and kill a Columbia blacktail in California. I just need to find someone to help her kill a Sitka Blacktail.
I have all five with four entered in P&Y. I have the points to hunt the Columbian some day... just have to find the time. Ed F
Blacktail Bob: No women "YET" in the book with all five species over P&Y minimum and entered. I also have the Whitetail, Mule Deer and Coues but have the same problem as your wife with the Sitka Blacktail :)
Off: Nice picture. Someday I hope to have the same display of all five together. Any one else have a picture of ALL five on display??
It doesn't surprise me that what takes most guys about ten years to accomplish, BigDan did in one year. Way to go Dan!!!
..still need the coues and the sitka and my columbian won't make P&Y, so I guess I need 3 more.
Charlie,
Per your request....all five deer qualify for P&Y.....
Jake: Brings back fond memories as I had the pleasure of measuring those 5 bucks! At this stage of my bow hunting years that is the picture I want in my trophy room more than anything else! Thanks for posting! C
Need the Coues but at 66 years old that may not happen . I spent so many years chasing Mulies and ignoring everything else and ran out of time .
Quick story , I got my Blacktail in northern CA on a 2 day hunt . On the way home I bought a Blacktail mount at a estate sale . it was shot by a guy 50 years earlier in the Yellow Bollies ? . Scored 176 on that small head .
I have the Sitka and Whitetail, both making P&Y minimums pretty easily. Both are also in full velvet.
I want to get the slam of deer in velvet. Should get a crack at all 3 remaining in 3 years from now. Graduate school simply doesn't give me the schedule to hunt much.
Jody,
Where you at:) Time to post up...
Nice guys! Love the trophy rooms of all 5 together. Someday...Need a bigger house first
Zackman I also have all 5 but to date have not had the best of them officially measured. (only one coues so far but I hope to change that in jan.)
However after the P&Y thread I am inclined to start getting some animals entered.
Is the columbian whitetail now pretty much included in the deer slam and if so what is the range?
Blacktail Bob, interesting you say that whitetail and Mulie are the most difficult. What is your reasoning for saying that? I was wondering if it was the region you live and hunt or just different species more difficult? I live in an area where I have had both of those come by my stand in the same sit. From what I've read on here I thought the Coues would of been the hardest to tag.
Its probably just a personal thing. I have a hard time sitting long enough to kill a good whitetail. My hunting style is pretty active, so I don’t do well with Whitetails. Likewise, I don’t shoot particularly well past about 30 yards either. From my experience, shots at mule deer are generally longer than what I have to shoot at Sitka Blacktails. Most of my Sitka’s have been 20 yards or less.
Coues deer, I guess, can be difficult. I hunted them last year in Old Mexico at water holes and didn’t kill one. But I think that was just plain bad luck. I have had some better luck with them in New Mexico and Arizona. My shots have been relatively close because where I've hunted them its been very remote and I don’t think the deer get much, if any, hunting pressure. Where I can get well off the road and away from where most other hunters tend to turn around, I seem to be able to kill things. Otherwise, I have little or no success.
I have been lucky with Columbia Blacktails too. I’ve hunted them twice and killed nice bucks spot and stalk both times. I think they’re pretty similar to Sitka Blacktails and wouldn’t place them in the same league with Einstein or a mature Whitetail by any means. I have a jinx when it comes to mule deer. I’ve shot several brown bears at point blank range and felt like I held my composure pretty well under those circumstances. I fall apart when it comes to shooting mule deer. Must be their size I guess.
Medicinemann....that is an impressive display. That mulie is the perfect centerpiece
Hey Jake, you see we have the deer in the exact same order from right to left?! Hahaha........ Congrats to you!

Looks like a wall full of memories Jake...congrats Bob, Guess someday I'll have to get out of Kansas and experience another part of the country. The spot and stalk would be pretty difficult this year around here. No rain means no cover and a lot of CRP was grazed or baled for hay to feed cattle all over the country.
I just need one more deer to complete it , I never set out for this it just happened ,, I leave Aug 10 ,, all my critters should make the book
Good luck Lou, save a few for Jim and I!
I bet none of you have ever done the single season double north American deer slam(SSDNADS)
Next year can't come fast enough! I'm so jealous!!! Good luck to you guys! Looking forward to the stories & pics!

Greetings ! I never even gave it a thought to pursue the the deer slam, but in 2017 I managed to harvest a Columbian Blacktail that green scored 80” plus and that put me in the “club “. The wt, md,Coues and Sitka all hover over P&Y minimums but I really have no desire to enter them, but it looks like this is a very accomplished feat considering I did it with a longbow I built… Thanks , and stay focused! Ray Seelbinder
No doubt that’s a helluva feat with homemade long bow
I’ve been lucky enough to take all 5 and all are entered into P and Y…
Nice work mundo
A resurrected thread.
I wonder how many mor guys have achieved this feat since Charlie posted that 9 had.
Im still working on it myself. Its definitely a huge accomplishment. A homemade longbow would definitely up the difficulty level.
Zack must be up to 9-10 by now! Good work man!
I finished mine a few years back. As soon as I invite myself to willieboat’s place, maybe I’ll get my second one. Ha
Sitting on 4/5 with a Coues to go. So far, not even Shug’s lucky leopard shirt has helped me!
Jason, if that shirt won’t help you, nothing will! Haha
I told you Jason you were supposed to die I a fiery car crash that day… the shirt kept it from happening
Just finished my second deer slam.....one lucky MF er!!!
Mark
There’s several “on here” that have completed 5-7 deer slams! And they’re first name isn’t Chuck!
Nice work fellas!!!
Congrats Gents!!!!
Mark
Three for me... I'm missing a Columbia Blacktail for my 4th. No plans to hunt them again.... 3 is a good number. Ed F
Coues in 2021

Oh wow, I have a “Slam” a couple actually and didn’t realize it.
My columbian blacktail isn’t P&Y…the rest are. Funny, I had a P&Y blacktail under the apple tree in my driveway this year….I could have easily rounded up!
My favorite is the smallest one
Nick, I can only count to 10. Otherwise I have to take off my boots and socks!
My Columbia Blacktail finished mine.
That is an interesting thought on having one of each in the book. May consider entering some of the deer I just never scored.
My how far we’ve come. Zack was an adolescent when he started this thread!
Some things never change Cory :)
I finished mine last year with a mule deer in MX. All of mine except the Sitka would qualify if I chose to enter them in P&y.

I finished last year with a spike Columbia Blacktail. Missed a couple opportunities at some forkies.
I need a second Columbia Blacktail for my second deer slam, but that big whitetail came calling instead. I put my son on a good one!
Four for me with the Sitka on the hit list sometime in the future.
I finished mine in 2017 cous in mx
Working on the elk and moose now only 11 more for the 29
I got the 5th one in 2021. 4 with a bow. Need to go back and get redemption on the Sitka with my bow.
