Discuss Bloodtrail 36 - Civil War Ed.

Dear lord please nobody debate (or get wrong) the first question. I will lose all faith....
Good luck, and let's go NJ!!!!
- Jack
Massachusetts is tied for first, but not for long. Why am I living in the bluest of states? I often ask myself that question.
Great new twist! Love it.
Pat, related to the civil war aspect. You have South Dakota as a "red" state being affiliated with the confederacy. Dakota Territory during the war raised troops for the Union even if they were used only for security in the territory. Now if you broke the states/territories out based solely for competition purposes then carry on sir. Just trying to figure out if I need to trade in Battle Hymn of the Republic for Dixie for the next 8 days. Ha!
Hey Pat. I see you are not only creating the questions, but also answering them. Trying to give Connecticut an advantage? :)
I guess I'm doing it wrong. It seems to be too much shoulder! But I guess it's another site where I read all the "help, where did I hit him"? Aren't we suppose to avoid the shoulder area on any animal that has some age to it? 0 for me on question 1. But I never do well on these. Good thing the field is much, much kinder to me.
my money's on Kansas or Iowa - those guys just seem to know it all when it comes to deer hunting :). Indiana already in a hole, thanks to Simple... Don't rule out NJ though - some guys got a lot of experience blood trailing them under the swingsets, pool fences, etc... Right Chip ??? LOL
You Yanks don't stand a chance. The southern boys have tracking spiders.
Is it really "fair" that Pat, the writer of the questions is counting towards the CT score :-)
The Red State/Blue State is an election thingy...
Ohio and Indiana are lagging...Whazzup?
In the big blue state of CT, all of the bowsiters here are true red blooded americans.
Hey Simple,
"D" is no where near the shoulder. Not unless you have 8" groups.
Just remember gents that this is not only red vs blue. There are other horses in this race. We Canadians, Ontario, New Brunswick etc., didn't make it on to the Map Pat(no offense taken whatsoever). I can see some states may want to draft us as mercenaries as they are in trouble already :).
Bou, for instance has already defective to New Brunswick, or was kicked on the Island by his home state!!! Grant, thanks for joining us! Canuck.
Anyone who got that one wrong, should have looked at the picture posted in Pat's first post. The same picture is posted at the top of question 1. It was a gimme question to begin with, but that made it an extra gimme.
NJ is 44th...goodness, how could you get that one wrong...lol
For Question 2, what does the L1 and R2 and R3 stand for? Am I missing something?
Its where the deer was hit by the broadhead.
Stan sorry i didn't help with clue 2... If I just went with my original instinct I would have got it right, then I did over-think it and freeze framed the video a dozen times and changed my answer... Dammit Pat! Your body was blocking most of the shot - next time get out of the way so I can see better!
What, no hamblaster shot option for the south...LOL
Stop crying CT is asmall state Pat are your sons playing ? lol
"What, no hamblaster shot option for the south".
I hope Pat is considering a "hamblaster edition". I hope it's something we can see in the future... I might know of someone in the deep south that may have some footage...
No problem Jack...I'll need you to carry me in the 'hamblaster edition'!
I wonder where the "civil war" inference comes from? I can't wait to see how the SLAVES fit into this revisionist blood trail? LOL, Mike
Sorry Maine. I let you down.
Florida Mike, that comes with dragging out the deer..LOL
Love the fact that you only get to watch the video once. You better be paying attention.
had it right, changed at last minute! sorry folks! did the same as j. harris.
What's broadhead was used for this hunt?
Did anyone notice that the shooter torqued the bow. If you look at the the frame at the 21 second mark you see the string coming off the upper wheel at an angle. That may attribute to some of the noise at the time of the shot.
This thing want let me play...this buddy roe played his own this am and won. Im doing the backstrap boogie...HDYLMK.
TBM - gonna need a Yankee translation on that. I'm getting better at decipherin' but somebody please help?
best I can figger - the video won't play for you. "this buddy roe" - not sure who roe is. I do know you shot a doe today head on and are trying to get us to guess how far and how long on a diff thread.
Are you by any chance jealous of Pat's technical acumen in how he pulls off these BTC's? Trying to steal some of the thunder? LOL ...
You are hot stuff man- Merry Christmas from the bottom of my heart.
Points on the board for the CT team! I'm still hunting, so I hope to do some REAL blood trailing in the snow soon.
I had a hard time seeing in the video, then I noticed the still shot on the feature main page. (thanks for that Pat) ;)
I hate the camera angle looking through the bow blocking most of what to see. .
Sorry WI, I had to guess because the video wouldn't play on my computer.
Both 1 and 2 can be answered by the freeze frame of the shot at the top of the page
Not sure why others could only watch it once. I watched it several times and stopped/started/ rewind, etc to see better.
Treefarm - That's all right - I nailed it so we can split the points! :^)
I was going to answer based on the still-shot, but then I was convinced it was a trick...maybe photoshopped or something? Anyway, I should have answered the question without ever watching the video. The video deceived me!
Jack he said..."This buddy role-played his own this morning and won..."
congrats TBM on the backstraps, we would all love to see a video of the "boogie".
So far I am disappointed in Nebraska...C'mon guys let's storm the nation!
" TBM is going to be saying "how do you like me know" to you after he gets a higher score than you do. "
Looking fwd to it Dave - I will deserve it!
When are they gonna update the points? I have 27 by myself and it shows AZ has 10.
Needed more info on #3: Time of day, weather, etc.
4 Points, I believe it's average state score.
The Map above in SANDMAN's post shows total electorial college votes possible from each of the states during a Presidential election. The total electorial votes given each state is based on population.
It has nothing to do with total or state average score.
I can see how Bou'bound goes - so does New Brunswick. The only state with a perfect score average, and he is the only participant. Bou- that's a lot of pressure to have to carry a state all by yourself! (ok PROVINCE not STATE)
I feel fortunate to have StanNJ, KJC, and Trophy8 carrying the mail for NJ all with perfect scores!
Now Pat, - I realize CT is struggling right now and ranked 42, and can really use your perfect score of "27" (the only perfect CT score btw), but one would have thought you had recused yourself????
LOL - that's priceless right there!
Jack he said..."This buddy role-played his own this morning and won..." congrats TBM on the backstraps, we would all love to see a video of the "boogie".
So far I am disappointed in Nebraska...C'mon guys let's storm the nation!"
Andy, we have an influx of crossbow shooters that think they are now bowhunters and are skewing our efforts... Just kidding!!
Rancid: the arrow in the ground is an advertisement for that brand of arrow...
#2 The video was deceiving, I looked over the still shot and it made the answer stupid easy in hindsight.
#3 I would have to disagree with, #1 because watching the video I would swear the shot was further back then it shows on the still. #2 because I go with what I see and not what I hear. And without watching the deer fall I will wait the 1hr.
Oh well, Sorry WI
I can't view the videos at work so I'm behind. Hopefully you can do multiple days at once.
You dont want to see the video. Look at the still picture:)
klmagussen #1 I agree with you, but I'm not sure why because I only understood 10% of the words you used :)
#2 I missed the still frame as well and thought the arrow hit behind the leg, therefore it couldn't have broken it.
I think what the guy said was if you hit him in the guts he'll die. you hit him in the leg he won't.
All answers have Bern self splanatory so far so quit your crying. Just admit you wrong and move on.
Ooops. Didn't realize I was giving away answers either. Sorry. Edited
Bake
Dang!... now that I have calmed down a little bit, that was a little of an embarrassing rant I went on. What's worse I kind of gave away a few answers. Please accept my apologies. I will try to edit or remove it! SORRY!
Pat is there anyway to put the ranks at the top of this thread
Noticed two NYers had a zero,COME ON MAN!
Yer bein' rancid again, Rancid. This reb has the same as you, for now. I may fall off the log and get wet tomorrow.
BTW , TBM wasn't " role-playing ". Ya'll need a little eddication in southern-speak. LOL
I think sombody with 0 might of just answerd the first ? wrong and didnt do 2 and 3 yet .I hope ! STEVE
I can't see 6 more questions without some tricks...this ones pretty cut n dry...I'm already pealing out tenderloins.
I'm calling BS on question #3.......
Dammmmmmmit! On question 4. I had it right and then changed my mind.
Now wait a minute, how can you tout the benefits of seeing exactly where you hit with those fabulous nocks, then still have your panties so wadded up you have to wait a half an hour to look for the deer you heard crash to the ground?
Truth be told that's the politically correct answer, but not one I'd subscribe to facts being what were given.
Wow on Q4... awfully hard to answer what is the least important thing without more information here... The answer I thought was least important got 0 points... I'd like to discuss more but don't want to give clues to the answer...
Question 4 is going to incite a bigger rebellion than slavery.
Yep, got #4 wrong :)
These bloodtrail challenges just reinforce one of my personality weaknesses. . . . I don't spend too much time thinking :)
If I got down and found my arrow broke, I would have thought "Damn!!! My arrow broke." End of thought. Then I would have walked over to find the deer dead
:)
Still fun though
Bake
@ Deebz, totally agree, I got the big goose egg as well.
Damn, didn't read the question through. I guess I should have noticed LEAST in capitals!
What's with question #4?? If it snapped off CLOSE to the broad head it sounds like a shoulder shot (or other bone) with little penetration and therefore D whould have been the least correct - It has done all of the damage it needs to do. I assume this means it's a killing shot.
Someone who got it right straighten me out please.
sorry Flahduh
zeroed on Q#4
This games easy, all you have to do is wait and read the posts from the guys whining about why they got it wrong.
I would hope no one is cheating on this game.
If you are using the discuss thread to answer the questions than get help please, you have some issues to resolve.
There is no way to know the correct answer to #4 without additional critical information as to the location of the BH after it separated from the arrow, but you can logically narrow it down to two answers. Then at best you can guess. Sorry NJ - I guessed wrong.
Man up Rancid and do the clue before you read the discussion! LOL!
I over thought this one and got the big "0"! oh well
I'll join the whining on question #4 club. And then tell the question to kiss my @ss. lol 0 for iowa....Sorry fellas.
Cause you got this one wrong pat...I clearly went with the only false answer which made it the least true because it was false...got a 0...I can't wait for a explanation.
Cause you got this one wrong pat...I clearly went with the only false answer which made it the least true because it was false...got a 0...I can't wait for a explanation.
Even though I got it ight the way the question is worded is confusing. Kind of like a double negative to me. I usually don't hear people say least true. . O well I'll play on.
Well, there goes the avg. Overthunk it. (This is for you Rancid) :) BIG FAT 0. Sorry GA boys!
We should know that people from CT can't sniff out the real least true statement. If they could they wouldn't have voted for Obama. Twice. :-)
Ooooh that's a kick in the nuts. OK It looks like I will have to break out the crayons and draw you all who couldn't figure out the only right answer a picture.
Well me to. I thought I had it wright I guess I looked to hard. A big 0 for me. J.C.
Pat you really ought to check and make sure you didn't get twisted because once you navigate the double negative there in a clear answer and it is yielding a fat 0. Or maybe you did it on purpose kind of like when Bill France called Richard Petty 2nd when he won the race by 5 feet...controversy gets traffic all day long...
"Folks from the deep south should even be getting these questions right (thats how easy this one has been) ;-)"
Keep in mind they (Alabama) consider it a major victory if they outwit a turkey
Dar: If I read the instructions I would be at 100% now I am not:(
"However, I will concede that a few might have been absent since they were doing a mobile live hunt that day."
Now that's funny. And probably true.
The problem with Ct is they do all those live hunts and never shoot any damn deer! How are they supposed to know how to bloodtrail? ;)
Pat, you know I like you man, but Question 4 is a poorly-worded nightmare of a question. And I'm a schoolteacher. :)
This test and the problems the questions are causing are a good reason why Bowsite should have a Board of Directors:)
I highly disagree with the answer to #4.
But you said the challenge wouldn't be "fair".
TBB
I consider a false answer go be the less true answer and there is only one false answer. Up north they obviously don't consider false as the less true and go with an answer that could be true but highly unlikely. What we have here is a failure to communicate....buy who said Yankees would fight fair. Pat can make it up to me when cherry trees are in full bloom. Like I said yesterday, I can't see how you can get so many questions out of a perfect hit...nothing important to ask...climb down and go get the deer. I'm prowd if my 0 on question 4... A 9 indicated the wrong answer. Period.
HOLY CRAP ARCHERY95, that's almost as bad as Pat's perfect score for CT!!! LOL... Now I'm sure it's just coincidence. Nobody would take Pat's BTC's so seriously that they would register extra characters on BS just to go back and get a better score second time around - would they?
This is already the best BTC ever - especially if Rancid's head explodes when his ego goes into expansion overload!
Pat, is Snookie going to be on this one? That last question made my head hurt
4 makes no sense
you do not KNOW what happened with the other part of the shaft, based on the previous guessing it broke the off shoulder, THAT would be where anybody would guess the broadhead to be, still in the deer, right ?
If its in the deer, its cutting, doesn't need leverage and we've already established its still in the deer.
The only least likely is the other one - that its NOT in the deer.
stealth
"4 makes no sense" would have sufficed
It makes a lot of sense. The correct answer is the only logical one, given the clues.
The only question that was easier than 4 was the first one.
Wonder about it rancid crapapple...until those expansion joints reach maximum capacity.
Ok number 4 wasn't cool, how do we know where the broad head portion of your arrow is, you are basing that question on your knowledge after the fact....
I hate these :).
XMan that's why I said the best you can do with number 4 is eliminate two answers. There is another piece of information required - like "where IS the BH?" In due time after we are near end of the quiz, perhaps it can be better explained by the Sadistic Overlord with the initials "PL".... :)
Feel free to make fun of me for this, but in the broken arrow picture from question four, I can't help but notice the beautiful beech tree. That is a gorgeous tree. I appreciate nice old trees like that. I don't see that many large beech in my neck of the woods.
I agree #4 is based on a fact that is not known, you only learn of this important fact when the answer is revealed.
Nope. I got 4 wrong as well, but now that I really take the time to read it it's the "will" that I missed. That word makes all the differance.
4 was rough, but 5 was definitely a gimme.. thanks Pat!
RC - do you and Pat attend your MENSA meetings together to?
GO CT !!!!!!!!! Pat your good at this stuff lucky you live in ct .LOL
Its not over till the fat lady sings lets see if there is someone from any state with a perfict score at the end .LOL
I have to disagree with Pat on number 5. All of the pictures look like they have blood spots or red leaf color. My eyes can't discern the difference. I got it wrong by choosing the one with the largest red spot. The correct one looked like it had a tiny spec to me. Please don't tell me to go to the eye doc cuz there is no cure for color blindness.
I think some dang yankee has intentionally sabotaged Florida :)
Really sucking hind tit on this one. 3 for 5 at the moment but since Colorado is unfortunately colored Blue on the map, I am still fully expecting my orange slice and ribbon at the end, Thank You!!
Hey 3 for 5, yeahhhh I'll take it! Thats a damn good batting average.
Pat,
These threads just remind me how poor my reading comprehension is sometimes.....you ask for the LEAST appropriate answer, and I fell right into your trap....
To quote you from a previous thread.....You bastard.
Pat: It is all in good fun. I kicked myself for reading comprehension on question 4. My fault and I know it. I read five correctly but outsmarted myself. I saw a tiny blood spot that was not there one of the photos. I have a real tough time with blood in photos. In real life I have to touch the spots to be sure.
Great shot Pat, nice buck!
I didn't get #4 wrong, I just scored a zero on it ;-)
Hey Pat....is Santa showing up on this challenge?...lol
Back on question 4, one problem is that, with that much penetration and the location of the break on the arrow, the BH could have lodged in bone on the far shoulder and the moving shoulder broken the arrow where this arrow was broken, erroneously leading you to believe that the BH is still in the animal.
Exactly right. The head could be stuck in the shoulder with blades on the inside where they could continue cutting like crazy. The key word is NO proof...10 inches of blood is proof. Maybe not overwelning proove but proof that it more than likely is in the animal. It might not be, but the proof indicates that it is and until more proof is given then that is the likely false which is less true than any of the other questions. You just have to remember that African trackers would not pass this and they are pretty good...they would be even better if I trained them on how to look for feeding ants and spiders. HDYLMK
more often than not the broadhead that breaks a shoulder WILL still be in the animal - still cutting, without need of an arrow .... the least likely thing was that is wasn't still in the deer
if you don't have the arrow in your hand - ALWAYS assume its still in the deer.
TBM, what does the "K" stand for? Second 2nd time I have seen it. Kill or Kilt?
Know!!! Know that I've been so busy killing and tracking and processing all the deer I've been killing, I don't have time to read these trick questions. Getting 0 s tick me off but a rising level in the freezer makes it all better.
If all you find is a shaft and you child is dressing the deer, you will always warn him that the broadhead is still in the deer. You mighteven take over in tovkeep him from cutting hisself. I will say I might be interpreting proof as evidence.
We're in a thread that talks about blood trails and broadheads.....and fearless leader finishes with quotes like "Stay sharp people"......the man is simply "pun"ishing!!
If the broad head is stuck in the bone, it's not doing any more cutting!!!
To many read what they want to read...not what is written.
Yeah, bb, been thinking that all along. Might cut a little muscle is all.
I would like to know whats up with our Michigan hunters getting so many wrong? I thought Michigan was one of the top states for numbers of bowhunters.
Pat, Need to make it more than 8 questions so I can bring my average up,LOL Got me on #4, but where's the hard ones
Even if it was cutting it would only be cutting muscle anyway. The damage it did getting to that point is the only thing that would lead to the deer's demise.
I've killed my share of game ... don't remember but one actually literally STICKING in bone ... wedged around bone yes, but unable to wiggle and move and cut ?
only one that I remember
I have found many broad heads stuck in bone and healed up in deer I have killed.
Even if it wiggled and cut, it would still be cutting outside of the chest cavity and would be very unlikely to cut anything that would lead to the deer's death.
TBM / TurkeyBowMaster / Steve
Just to be clear with a little reverence to English and Grammar.
Know rhymes with "no".
"Now" rhymes with "cow". You getting it yet?
HDYLMK would sound like "how do you like me no"...
HDYLMN would actually be correct way of saying "how do you like me now"...
After 9 months, I think it's time we addressed that :}
Know mabe one of the problems with these tracking scenarios is the person developing the questions already knows the answers so makes the questions and correct answers based on this knowledge and hindsight. His correct answer is different from the correct answer one would give without such knowledge. It's kind of like reading instructions written by someone who has put an item together a thousand times and assumes you have too. Monday mourning quarterbacks give one set of answers, when your in the fire...another.
Just admit you didnt now the answer and got it wrong. No one will think any less of you as a hunter.
That's my point...I did know the answer and got it wrong...got it know!!!!
Pat, thanks for the Christmas present!
Man, that blood on the leaves was tough, that's why I usually have my wife along on any hard tracking job. She has a lot better eye for spotting contrast/detail.
Well that bites for me, put my selection in from my IPhone and it gave me a zero on a cake answer. Arrrggghhh!
Pat, you could have at least wrapped that present.
I'm just saying in my hunting world, if I have a broken arrow in my hand, shot looked like I broke off shoulder ( like this scenario) that its logical to assume the arrow is still in the deer.
It is NOT logical or reasonable to assume its fallen out because you haven't found it.
TBM - "Know" maybe one of the problems with these tracking scenarios........
followed by "...got it know!!!! "
LOL - I love you man!
Bromance that is... lets not get crazy...
Horsehocky Horseshoe...and I will prove there is a false answer in front of all the world to see. False is least true in Alabama...I got proof.
sorry, gave away too much back there, i had to delete the previous post. i didn't even consider folks might still be in the beginning of this track!
TBM, keep up the good werk!
I was playing at work now I am home if I play will it start the game all over I don't want to cheat .
Steve only way you can cheat is register under a different handle... Or play if you are the creator :)...It knows your sign-on..
Different handle is the way to go
Just kidding...sitting here waiting on answers to the question I had about the deer I just shot. Going to begin a soft push in 15 minutes unless I get answers that suggest it's a mistake.
Pat, will consideration of the number of people participating in each state have any bearing on the winning team?
Some here think this challenge is harder than the real thing. I think it's easier. I can see the blood better on my IPad than I can on the ground. Also, I have no vested interest in this track. Makes me more objective. I don't know if I would be doing this well if it were my backstraps on the line !
Just started. Mixed up the letters on first question. Meant to enter "C" and somehow fat finger "D"! Zero points....Sorry team. I have gotten all the rest correct.
There should be an option to wet your finger to sort blood spatter from just red spots on leaves.
I got them correct, but that is the only way to be certain unless the trail is paved with blood.
Pat - evil... Pure evil... that's all I'm gonna say...
That was low ! Good job though, ha!
That # 7was evil. I had a feeling there was some trickery in there :) I must admit I am cheating a bit. My almost 6 year boy is helping me find blood since I am red/green color blind. Looks like he is going to have to help me find my deer if I don't have a buddy hunting with me. Fortunately for me he is rocking these blood questions. Can't wait till he is old enough to sit more than an hour with me.
Foul, Foul! Flag on the field!
The question says "lying" not "laying" That could be interpreted as Santa.
"There is something special lying in this photo." Find it then choose the correct quadrant in Question 7.
Dang it! I caught the clue, but couldn't see it! I saw something else and thought it was a trick!
Interesting. If you enlarge photos, Santa Clause is in frame B. Nice trick question- wrong diction when using "lying"
Merry Christmas, #7 was a gimme, who couldn't see that color! Too easy!
I'm calling bs on 7. Using language interpretation has notjing to do with tracking ability. When Santa appeared when you enlarge it just catches your eye .
There is a huge difference between meanings of the words"laying" and "lying"!
I must be blind, because I don't see anything special except Santa Claus!
Number 4 now makes more sense to me.
Number 7 was too easy. Ho ho ho
Ahhh... now I finally see it.
Your a funny guy Pat..Hmmmm!
Man, I hit the "submit" button by accident on the first question, so I got it wrong. DAGNABBIT!!!! The best I can possibly do now is a 63. Sorry team New Mexico. At least I got perfect scores on the other 6 that I answered! Still waiting for question 8. GO TEAM NEW MEXICO!!!!!!!!!!
Aaarrrggggg !!! Did ya'll see me put my fat foot in my mouth??? Never, ever let your head get swelled, 'cause this is what happens ! Easy my ass. I saw something not right next to the rock, but talked myself into thinking I saw blood on the leaves in D. Good fun !!!
I don't see anything special about half an old rack either. Not to impressed I guess.
This blood trail is 100% real. All pictures and steps as it happened on the Connecticut hunt...I call bs. Everybody knows Santa Claws lives in the south poll.
Was that a fair chase pic of Santa, or did you have to bait him up with cookies and milk...the proof indicates bait.
Well.....you got me on that one......damn it
And to think I mentioned Santa to Pat....
Pat, your such a Little Sh*T...LMAO
Egg is on my face!!!!
I think Rowdy Dowdy was in on clue #7.
I thought an egg was coming out of Santa. That means I should get it right, no?
It's odd to me that nobody mentioned the 50 pounds of Come Mere deer the buck was eating at the time of the shot. Or was that dehydrated molasses...just this side of the deer and behind the log.
Just figured baiting must be legal where this was taken.
That Santa is bringing coal for Pat's stocking.
I got the part about Santa standing vs laying, but could not find anything on the ground. There is a rock that almost looks like it has an "eye" in quadrant D.
RC - we got our big stud KJC in NJ killing it too, but I don't seem to see him bloviating over his perfect score...
KJC - thanks for carrying us bro!
Last question was a tough one because it depends upon where in the lungs the broadhead slices. Thanks and Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Too-shay RC... And thanks for #8 Pat, that was a gift...
7 out of 8...Oh Santa...lol
I should have known better than to choose what I would have done (and what Pat obviously did) for #3, rather than the "by the book" answer, which I admit is the right one. Oh well. 7 out of 8 ain't bad. Fun challenge. Merry Christmas to all!
Thanks Pat, fun challenge! Merry Christmas to all.
I'm toast! I thought one question was a trick question and guessed wrong. And two times I tried to do things on my mobile and hit the wrong button to see my choices....which selected the wrong one which was in the view at the time. HAHAHAHA! I'm a much better shot with my bow, than I am with my thumb!
Just remembered that I had to do a presentation on the tenses of lie and lay back in high school. I completely screwed the whole thing up and to this day I don't get it right. However, I'm quite lucky that my wife has a masters in literacy and my bother teaches English. I always welcome my redneck grammar being corrected, NOT!!
That was quite tricky Pat!
Wow, This must have been the easiest challenge ever, because I finally got them all right! Merry Christmas to all!
I thought this was a blood trail...if I wanted to work a puzzel, I would have bought a pubic cube.
not touching that one ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
Or that one v v v v v
I thought this was a blood trail...if I wanted a puzzel I would have worked a pubic cube.
As a colored blind person, I always have trouble finding blood, even if I am standing in it. He has eyes for blood, he can see a pin drop in or on anything. I started good but finished weak. It was fun though. I saw both of the deer I shot this year go down 40 yards or a tad closer, shot placement is everything.
Holly cow got the last 2 right 1 I saw the horns 1 I guested ended with 51 .Good thing Pat maxed it .
"As a colored blind person"....
I think you meant "color-blind" ?
Huge difference in semantics there....
If you are the former - you could not read this or shoot a bow, so will assume the latter....
Wow, only 19.7% got question 7 right.
I guess I should have read this thread first before I played.
I might have had a chance on ? 7.
As a ND resident, I also have an issue with being on the same side as TBM.
Not whining, just a game and thanks for hosting Pat!
HA!! I'm color blind and had the wife helping me a little.. Seen the rack but we were focused on blood trailing. The last question,, I don't know anyone that ranges how far their deer went or tells how far it went to the nearest 1/2 yard so I thought it was a generic answer. Also, my Leupold range finder doesn't range in 1/2 yards, it was fun anyway and I'll be set for more "trick" questions from now on.
wwag- I am color blind also. I used my zoom screen option to find it. I always struggle with blood specks.
Question 7 was awesome... you must not have done one of these before ;-)
Whoops, sorry team. I double out-thunk myself. Thanks Pat and Merry Christmas to all.
Who measures a 1/2 yard? Good Grief
These things are entertaining to see us all come unglued when we miss question. This one seems more entertaining than informative. I still look forward to the next one.
Pat, is that your deer stand over the top of your left ear in the last picture? Maybe I'm making things up?
I got #7 wrong even though I got the hint about laying in the picture. Spent quite a bit of time looking but never could see the antler even after I answered and got the correct quadrant.
Great fun. Sorry about your reindeer Santa! Probably shouldn't let them run loose during deer season.
That would be one hairy ice cube!
The rack was so small I couldn't find it...
Perplexed with last question as to how you can range how far a deer went from your stand? Mr. Trebec, your question is flawed!
Two ways that I measure a blood trail is with a GPS or use Google Earth.
I could have used a 25 foot tape measure once but I thought my hunting buddies would have me committed if I told then he ran 18 feet 7 3/4 inches...
I liked this BT Challenge the best of them all. I liked competing as a state. Any chance we can do the rest of them this way from now on?
Oh, and I had 7/8. I say clue 4 blows as well.
Whaaaa Whaaaaa Whaaaaa
I learned and relearned that these challenges have more to do with understanding the author than your abilities in the real world. Since they are real situations, however, we can learn from them. Why does a heart shot deer typically run so far? I know they do but have not yet explained it to myself?
I believe you are spot on greenmountain. Thats why I dont get the incessant bragging by some on here. These GAMES are fun, but hardly an accurate caliber of an individuals abilities.
The bragging is just a game also.
I got all the important ones right .
I must protest the method of scoring/ranking. Nova scotia ranks #1 with only one entry? How about adding one point for each contestant in each state more than one. In other words Nova Scotia scores 63 + 0. Hawaii scores 54 + 4. Etc.
Otherwise, we should just noniminate a "captain" for our state and only let him go for a score.
As if the score/ranking actually matters..........LOL
So if this was the Civil War edition, who won, the Yanks or Rebs?
Pat, if you tweak the scoring, maybe the winning state is the one that has the highest average score per question answered, not just the highest average score? That way, if someone doesn't answer all the questions, their state wouldn't be penalized as their questions would just add to the average.
