I just got back from my first trip to South Africa. My girlfriend and I went for a ten day hunt and some sight seeing for a couple days at the end. We had a great time.
We hunted with African Arrow Safaris. I started communicating to Harry in early 2017 about my interest in going to African. He went over the costs for everything(which were quite reasonable) and we locked the dates.
This will mainly be pictures with a little info on each one. I will just say that African Arrow Safaris runs a great operation. I have a report in the outfitter section that covered how satisfied I was with everything.

At African Arrow, they only want mature animals shot. So, although I was not interested in inches and would gladly shoot an animal on the bottom of their scale(still a nice, mature animal) most of animals I shot ended up being on the upper end of the scale. Of course the only reason I know this is because the PH was there to judge the animals, something an inexperienced eye with African animals(such as myself) would have a very hard time doing. They were all very nice animals that I was quite happy with.

When I shot this Impala, there were several large kudu a couple hundred yards from the blind. But we didn't know if they would end up coming in. I choose the bird in the hand over two in the bush philosophy,especially after my guide Johan said I should probably try for the Impala because of it's size.

At last light on day 3, Becky got a shot a black wildebeest. The shot was back and it was decided to wait till morning to track it. Easy decision considering that some Cape buffalo were also hanging out in the area.
Thanks to some good tracking by Harry and Garry. They were able to get back on it the next day and she got a finishing arrow into it.

On day 8, a lone Blue Wildebeest came in. After a 20 yard shot and a short tracking job, we were standing over him. He was a very old bull, is teeth were worn almost to the gum line. I bet he only had another year or two left, a great animal to take.

Harry drove us down to the Limpopo river one afternoon. It was a little cool for the crocs and hippos to be up. But still cool to see. South Africa on one side and Botswana on the other.

We also took a couple days and stayed down at the Palance in Suncity and did some game drives in Pilanesberg National Park. Both very cool experiences.

We had a great time in South Africa and at African Arrow Safaris. The little, personal touches really make a big difference. We are already looking forward to our next trip!

T-roy. They are very cool looking animals. A black wildebeest wasn't even on her mind. But from what I understand, they rarely come into the blinds/stands(at least on Harry's place) so not a lot of folks get shots at them. Her guide told her this when that one came in, so she decided to take the shot.
