My trophy room/man cave
Whitetail Deer

With Hawk in the hospital, work and life in general it's been tough to find much time to work on my first home I bought last fall. With the help of many friends and especially my girl Tasha, we built my dream trophy room/man cave! I have never been able to have all my mounts in the same room/location on display the way I wanted until now. They've been in storage units for a period of time, 5 of them survived a fire in a house I was renting, some were at my parents etc. The previous owner of my home cut hair out of the one side of the garage so when my offer was accepted I knew what I wanted to turn the salon into..
Lots of pallets for the pallet barn wall look I had in mind free off craigslist
Hanging/mounting stuff!

Looks good, great job and awesome bucks!
I envy you all with cathedral ceilings! haha This whole project only cost me probably around $200-$250 in wood glue, screws, tape, paint, brushes/rollers, a few small tools and other odds and ends but lots of blood and sweat! I can't wait to make room for Hakons first buck! #HakonStrong
Looks great Matt! The wood turned out great and the bucks are top notch. Very nice
Wow that looks nice, and those are some great bucks!
Nice job and that is some collection of bucks!
Very nice and I hope Hawk gets to come home soon and see it.
Hell Yeh!!
Dang nice
How's the lil guy doing?
Thanks for sharing
Good luck, Robb
Excellent work and nice bucks!
Hope the little guy is getting stronger and bigger every day!
Thanks for sharing and God Bless!
Well done in all regards!
Looks great!!! And all the best with everything else
About out of room ? Add on ! You have some great bucks and y'all did a great job on the walls. Maybe Trump could use your help ! :-)
I'm with those above, how's the little feller doing ?
Very nicely done. Looks like the misses helped also.
Looking good in the neighborhood great job Lewis
Looks great, nice deer!! Hope all is well with your son.
Very nice... a guy around here literally built a nice shed with a porch, all with wooden pallets.
Great job and a bunch of nice bucks! Love that idea on the pallets for the walls.
Although you may need to rearrange for the elk, moose and caribou that I hope you get someday:-)
Still sending prayers for your little one and hope he is able to go home soon!
Nicely done. Looks great!
Thanks so much guys! We are very happy with how it turned out. And yes the Mrs helped out a ton! She stayed up all night while I was working on night shift the night before Valentines day putting the finishing touches and a final clean up on the cave for me. We feel so lucky and blessed lately. Our son Hakon is doing extremely well. Currently he is 3lbs 15 oz! His oxygen is much lower which is a good thing and they have nothing to report but good things lately and we hope it stays that way!
Love what you did with the old pallet wood! Very cool!
Looks great Matt! I know you’ve had a challenging year....it sounds like things are turning in your favor. Enjoy it.
Looks great and amazing collection of whitetails. Well done on all counts:)
Looks great, Matt. Curious, how did you fasten the planks? I was thinking of doing something similar in my family room, but running the planks vertically presents a challenge fastening to the dry wall.
Bowbender........Could you run furring strips and fasten to those?
Always admired people who could build. Nice job but you better not take up elk hunting.
Prayers for your son.
T-roy,
You could, but I currently have fourteen receptacles that would need moved out. Could run them horizontal and only go up up chair rail height or so
Bowbender we simply used wood glue and then screwed them into the drywall. The easy part for me was that I was going for an old, beat up, weathered looking barn wall. The perfect part was how imperfect the planks/wall are. Good thing cause I'm actually not a great builder or at least finish carpenter lol Thanks again for all the compliments!
Laziness and poverty go hand in hand, that boy will be fine with you two for parents! Nice work! Awesome deer!
Looks good. It'd have an even warmer feel if you put hardwood floors down. I'd even prefer sealed cement over tile. It'd look great with a bear rug in the center.
Thanks so much guys! Idyllwildarcher those tiles were there already..one thing at a time for us lol I thought a bear skin rug would look great there too.
Great thing about a man cave is, it can also serve as a "dog house". Nicely done. my best, Paul

Just don't let the wimmins know we don't mind being sent to the doghouse.
lol that is the truth regarding the "doghouse" haha thanks again guys!
Really a nice job, Matt! Great to hear about the little one. He's the most important trophy.....
Nice job. Just a thought I would change out the outlets and switches to brown and they wont stand out so much. Just my opinion.
Strong work. Love the look!!
I had that thought actually wackmaster but Tasha suggested painting them white to "pop" and I don't think they look bad white..Thanks Huntman!
Great work on the mancave - cool that the missus helped out too. Good luck with the lil one!
For the covers - do the best of both worlds... make them out of pallet wood, but paint them white - then they'll still "pop"
Great work. I really like the wood. Looks like a fine place to sip on some bourbon. Glad to here Hawk is gaining some weight.
Matt Nice job and help from your GF. You better put a ring on her finger there's not very many that would help you make and design the man cave :) I am one of the lucky ones that let me fill up our family room
Thank you all for the replies! Glad you guys like it. Lately I just peak in there and gander/smile for a moment..soon we will be able to enjoy it more when Hakon is home and things settle down some. You better believe I'll spend a lot of time with Hawk in there!
