Hi there. After 25 yrs I have drawn Unit 10 Archery elk in Colorado. Looking for connections for any recent experience or knowledge of the unit. Thanks so much!

Hunted there twice. Killed a 318 and a 349 bull. Both were on Roundtop Mtn. Another good place is from Hell’s Canyon to Tanks Peak. Hang out right along the Monument fence. There is a small pond on Tanks Peak right on the fence, elk come out of the Monument and hop the fence to drink. If you’re young and in good shape, try Jack Springs and Gunsight Gap. Access is tricky there and it would be hard to get one out of there.

I’m putting my blind on the tanks peak pond tomorrow. That way the elk will get used to it before the season starts.

I hunted unit 10 in 2001, one of my favorite elk hunts ever. I drew the tag with 8 preference points and at the time it felt like a eternity to wait. With new GPS and private land chips navigating the unit should be a breeze. Bowshot is spot on with his recommended areas. Have fun.

Gee, competing with 13 fellow archery hunters in a huge unit loaded with elk. What a glorious problem to have. I've seen more hunters than that waiting to use the port-a-john at some OTC trailheads.

Gunsight Gap is a pretty cool phenomena to see. But I dont think many die-hard archers wouldn’t 'get it'
