Just finished this and hung it up, so thankful for his amazing creations. Hope all you Dads have a great weekend! John
Nice! Have a great Father's Day.
Great looking wall hanger. Let’s see more pics of the trophy room.
Very nice, Jasper! Also very thankful to still have my dad here to celebrate Father’s Day with! Truly a blessing.
I second that Randy! More pictures of that trophy room?
Here ya go Randy and Tavis -
Very very nice lots of memories!!!!!!
Yes, very cool indeed. I like how you not only have mounts but some vintage stuff as well. Also like the photos with the mounts too. I'm sure you have some shit in the outhouse that you're not showing us too.....pun intended :) Very well done!!!
Wow. Must be nice to be rich
Love it!
Thanks for the tour, John!
Great historical display - beautiful mounts, great pictures, cool stuff... Memories of a life well lived!
That outboard motor took me back to my misbegotten youth fishing for bass in the river with Papa’s v-bottom john boat and old Johnson outboard... She only made me row back if I ran out of gas!
Awesomely trophy room! That definitely qualifies as a man cave.
Looks more like a Museum than a trophy room. Very nicely done!
Very nice, Jasper! Looks like you’ve killed a few ton’s worth of eland, amongst other stuff!
Very nice. Looks fantastic!
Thanks for the nice comments guys! Tavis, I hear ya buddy. That’s a 1953 Johnson Seahorse that my Dad bought brand new for I believe $90! Lots of great memories fishing with that little jewel on the back of the jon boat!
It really is more about the me memories to me. I’ve dreamed of having a place like that since I was a little kid. I took lots of pics and saved lots of stuff for many years to make that happen. I love to walk down there on a Friday evening with a beer and cigar and walk around and reminisce. The pics and trinkets and memories of those I’ve hunted with get much more of my attention than the mounts. And if the good Lord is willing I ain’t done :)
Oh and foamkilr, I’m not rich though there’s not a dang thing wrong with it. I admire those who are! I did all the room work myself, cut as many corners as I could and did some of the taxidermy as well. A couple of the hunts I was fortunate enough to win and the others I worked my tail off to make happen. I’ve got 6 months until I retire and I’m gonna hit the bucket list pretty hard. That doesn’t make me rich IMO, it makes me blessed and dedicated. Have a great day my friend...
VERY NICE Jasper! Love the unique and personal touch to it all! Some great memories in that room! Well done!
Now THAT Is a great room! Very nice work!
Wow! That’s awesome, Jasper! Really, really cool! Can I come over and hang out? :)
Well heck yea Rick! I got plenty of beer and cigars and we’ll throw something dead on the grill!
Work hard on that bucket list. Not everyone gets the chance to grow old. Thanks for posting the pictures.
Man-o-man, that is very, very nice.
Congrats on a great room,
Robb
Love the Ole Johnson motor. Blessed for sure
Well done and very classy!
That is great Jasper. Thanks for sharing. You are truly Blessed.
Simply incredible!!!! A guy could spend hours in there and not see everything. Love it.
Jasper, my friend, yes sir you are very, very rich. Money does not, a person make rich, friends, memories, and a strong faith in God ...... yes ..... you are rich indeed!
A room and a life full of incredible memories!!! Congrats on the past and best of luck in the future.
Totally agree with Inshart! And you are also a very talented man. Doing the woodwork and the taxidermy plus being able to take many very nice animals - wow! Well done and thank you for sharing!!!
Jasper- is that one room or several? How high are the ceilings? Great work!
Cam, two rooms, both 9 feet. One I did a drop ceiling but I like the other one better. I spray painted the ceiling, ducts and all like some restaurants do. Built some light fixtures for can lights that I can focus on mounts. I really like it and it’s cheap
Thank you for the pictures and insights of your life and achievements! A lot of passion certainly went into everything shown in the pictures..
Pretty sure I could get lost in there for days... Longer if I was able to listen to the background and stories.
Wonderful work!
A diverse, beautiful and memory evoking display, Jasper!!
It’s funny how different animals draw in different people. Although not the most imposing, for me that bushbuck just a really stands out.
You are indeed rich and all the more blessed for being able to become immersed anew whenever you wander there!
Jasper - very cool! One that caught my eye is the big shoulder blade on the plaque next to your goat? If I may ask what is the story on it?
Thanks!
Lee
Thank you again Tavis! And for all the time you could spend getting lost I’d be right there telling you all the details! Lol
Thanks Rod! That bush buck is actually my sons, but I was with him when he killed it. I’ll take that over me doing the honors any day. They are small and amazing beautiful!
Lee, that’s the scapula from the bull I killed in BC, my dream hunt. Talk about being in the zone...I killed a moose, mountain goat and elk on the same 13 day hunt. I had dreamed of killing a moose with my bow since I was a kid. A friend of my Dad’s had Outdoor Life magazines laying around his house and I saw one with a bull moose on the cover and knew I wanted to kill one one day. My Mom knew I wanted to go on that hunt and would ask when I was going often. She passed away in 2009. I used some of my inheritance from her to go on that hunt and killed that bull 2 years later ON HER BIRTHDAY. There were things that happened on the hunt that shouldn’t have....my Mom was there in spirit I have zero doubt. Oh, the scapula! Lol I thought about wanting one as I watched my guide Monty use it to rake trees with. He left it hanging in a juniper where my bull fell as that was his tradition. I thought that was cool. So at the end of the hunt I told the outfitter to send one with my capes and antlers. He said “you are the only hunter in my 40 years of doing this that has asked for a scapula” LOL, just strange I guess. I did it just like you’d do a skull mount and thought it was a cool memento of the trip
Great story for sure. Thanks!
Yup. Was right. Days!
Hey foamkilr post some pics of the economy priced targets you shot lately.
I sat behind the key board for a few minutes trying to come up with something to say. I guess WOW and IMPRESSIVE, is all I got. Nicely done. my best, Paul
So Daryl messaged me about how I displayed the turkey beards so I thought I’d put it here in case anyone else was interested. ————— So this is pretty simple. I cut a couple of forks out of saplings to hold the beard stick and screwed them into the wall. I cut another limb and cleaned it up for the hanging stick. I bought some imitation leather and cord from Hobby Lobby. Cut the leather 1/8" or 3/16" wider than the beard base in a rectangular piece that folds back over around the beard. I secure it with a couple of little drops of super glue. Then I took an ice pick and poked a hole for the cored to go through. Just figure how far you want it to hang down and tie it off. Makes it real easy to add beards.
Well done Jasper! Love it.
Very cool story on the scapula! Thanks for sharing.
Lee
Most people never get the opportunity to experience a lifetime so filled with the outdoors and memories. A life well lived, but not over. Well done!
Being “In the zone” would be an understatement! Holy smokes, Jasper! Did you happen to do a thread on here, about that hunt?
If not.....we’re waiting!!! ;-)
John, was that room an add- on, or took over the kid's room, or did you convert the garage to a man den?
Troy, I did a short recap with some pics. I had an agreement with Bowhunter magazine for a feature article so didn’t go overboard. Well to me, anyway. The editor saw it and wouldn’t run the article, a big overreaction IMO. I’ll write about it here one day when my arm heals, had surgery yesterday and am typing left thumbed right now.
Paul, 2 rooms in an unfinished basement
Awesome rooms, thanks for sharing!
Great display of a life spent outdoors! Blessed it is. Also my definition of rich.
