Do you guys get preference points on these LE hunts, or is it a pure lottery draw each year?

Pure lottery. They throw a little twist in by allowing you to apply for each species up to six times, with a few exceptions on certain hunts. Can shoot for 6 different hunt codes or put all 6 choices in one hat. Each choice is $5 or $10 depending on species.

Draw day is anti climatic for me as a resident. Fun way to donate my money but I usually plan my entire fall out assuming no draw before results even post. Wonderful that all species but bison and musk ox are easily hunted OTC.
That said, I won’t complain about a bison tag to end my week!

Want to know the secret to drawing an Alaska bison tag? Just ask me....
After 37 years of applying unsuccessfully, I went to MT and shot a bison on the Crow Reservation. 3 months after I paid a small fortune to air freight the meat back to AK, I drew a Delta Bull tag!
Pretty simple actually..........!
